I want a star trek rpg that combines mass effect and assassin's creed: black flag. you know custom character design, ship to ship battles, and multiple story lines based on your decisions.
Almost like Star Trek Online? It's free to play (with the obvious option to buy extras if you want), you can customise your character and ship, the storyline is pretty decent, it's not a bad 3rd person shooter, the AI isn't moronic and there are ship-to-ship battles that rely on tactics equally to combat. Not only that, I feel that it captures the Star Trek feel and lore wonderfully, and even has hints to the pre-Abrams movies (such as some customisable uniforms and ships).
kecu0 um no, I mean with the exact same epic feel of mass effect and the real ship to ship combat of ac4, I don't want to play the battle on a grid and use point and click strategy
I was mostly just joking, guys. Star Trek had great tv shows, but..the video game adaptation does nothing that Mass Effect doesn't do better. (A whole lot better)
Schwarzer Ritter As far as i recall that probably was the first color to be used. The blue screen method was developed in the 1930s at RKO Radio Pictures. Source wikipedia.
If this had some Mass Effect elements to it, it could have been great. It didn't have to go overboard with Mass Effect elements, but this could have let you explore the galaxy and let you decide whether or not you should shoot your way out of the situation. Or talk your way out of it.
Dear lord, they actually choreographed that fight to be exactly like the episode! You guys put such great effort into that that probably went completely unnoticed by most people who watched this... You guys are awesome!
Oh god Joe's Gorn suit is as adorable as a Sackboy dressed in a Dino suit with that cute little Dino Hand puppet on his hand. Not to mention the Head has an Amazing Cloaking ability where it's the same color as the green screen or it's a close enough shade of green to the Green screen so the GS effect happens to the Head.
Personally I think Star Trek Online is far better. I mean, you can be your own captain of your own starship. You can install custom weapons, shields, and as you rank up higher you can get better weapons, shields, even deflectors. You can do episodes, or you can just explorer! And here's a big thing: You don't even have to be a Federation officer! you can be the Klingon warrior, or you can be a Romulan survivor! and there are even have your own bridge officers! There are just so many things in Star Trek Online. I can tell there has been a lot of hard work put into it. I recommend you all check it out if you want a good experience. Besides, its FREE.
Since No Man Sky gave me a $60 concussion and destiny's lies , I can no longer trust developers and producers regarding any "space" game hence forth I will have to watch Joe and others before buying any space game..... reality is sad
Compared to other reviews, i appreciate how he at least noted the good sides. I enjoyed this game a lot. At some points it's terribly boring, but the fundamentals for a good game was there... but it never capitalized on that. It seems as if they devs were making it up as they go. But for the 14 hours it took for me to finish the game (100% all achievments) it was pretty fun. Launch day glitches were bad, many bugs, but it was still pretty fun.
5:55 gotta love the hollywood monster/alien fighting style. Has long teeth and claws yet instead of gutting you or biting your face off,it throws you instead and starts a brawl.
Pew! Pew! Pew! Star Trek IS basically the reboot Star Trek in a nutshell with little emphasis on depth, characters, and consequences. I think it rather fitting that this video game based on the reboot series misses the quintessential elements of Star Trek when the reboot films do as well. Now I admit to enjoying the first one when it came out but after Into Darkness I see the fatal flaws of the new series. One thing that continues to bug me is "Captain" Kirk. He went directly from cadet brought up on disciplinary charges who hadn't graduated from Star Fleet to be made directly a Starship captain! Seriously, wtf!
To follow up on that, unlike the old Captain Kirk, the new one has no respect for the rules. Old Kirk only strayed from his orders after careful consideration when it was his only choice.
***** People say this, but did TOS really need rebooting? TNG was a disaster on the big screen, but that's explained quite neatly by Plinkett. I liked the first Abrams Star Trek pretty well, but the 2nd one just made no sense.
Capcom is a great company in my view. My real problem with them is that they ade a remake of a game that got remade from 2002 on the gamecube and made a sequeal to that shit game called revlations. They should be doing RE7 and make it a follow up to a RE6. I guess this is what happens when you listen to the people when they want slow paced horror which is not my taste. I want more fast paced action and exposlions like in RE5 and RE6.
i can imagine a space game where one race start war and join with other races and you go through with choices of where to head of with your fleet to join allies while the enemy does another move and also sending a part of your fleet to get piece or to destroy allowing for a good strategy shooting game where you choose to get allies to get bigger fleet and monthly deposit or jsut ravage their entire solar system for better gear and upgrades. If you go to a planet and make piece then during that time the enemy may have sended a fleet to attack one of your allies home so you can choose to either send a part of your fleet to help "if they got time" or to take down the enemy while their weak and get what's left.
I'd like to see Bethesda do a Star Trek "Galaxy Sandbox" type of game. With both free roaming for your all-original character. Upgrades for your ship, being able to play different races and factions...have it take place post-Nemesis/Dominion War for fuck's sake! Let us make a Defiant-Class or Enterprise-E or even F-type ship. Plus the new Klingon/Romulan/Federation alliance, upcoming Borg invasions. Species 8172, the new peace with The Dominion and Cardassians, getting to meet Admiral Janeway and Cpt. Picard, maybe even Sisko, somehow. Who knows? I really think those guys could get it right if they put the time they did into Skyrim or the Fallout series.
I think they should take the best aspects of all of those games and even look at older games like Fallout 1 and 2 (maybe a turn-based/real-time for battles in which you are commanding multiple troops or ships, or both. Throw a little Starcraft in there :D)
I just hope Xbox or Sony or Nintendo will realize that if you make a decent Star Trek game then you WILL make money! There are still a lot of Trekkies out there who have been waiting almost 20 years for a good Star Trek game.
@5:56 I do love how, in this sequence, this creature with a mouth big enough to bite through Kirk's ENTIRE HEAD, grabs him, throws him down, and then laboriously walks over, to grab him once again, and then roar at him. It sure is nice when your enemies show mercy to you in a cutscene (take pity on you, really), though possibly Joe would have preferred the game be shortened by this scene playing out properly.
The best video game after a movie is still to this day "Riddick:Escape from Butcher Bay". If you have not played it yet Mr Angry Joe I seriously recommend it. I think you could in fact go back and make a hilarious review for it since that game really dated well and many have not played it and should. Anyway, Mass Effect did space sci-fi better than any star wars or star trek game ever could so far anyway.
YES I always saw Shepard as a mix-up of Picard, Duke Nukem, Lara Croft and Ripley from 'Aliens' (yeah, mine was female. I'm sorry!) I'm not trying to justify Digital Extremes' bad job with this game but at that time they were on the verge of bankruptcy, literally. They had to lay off many employees and Warframe was their last try to survive (Warframe was released some weeks after this game).
YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME...all this time I the intro was a cleverly scripted joke, and then I only just found out that that IS THE ACTUAL DIALOGUE? XD...
Tony Sandoval warframe was made a long time before this like a very very long time ago you can see one of its original trailers from years ago before it was forced to turn into dark sector because of Microsoft or some shit
BioWare could probably make a Star Trek Game like you described it. I mean, they made Mass Effect, which basically has all the Features you wish for a decent Star Trek Game.
+Barrel Portrait They originally wanted Mass Effect to be a Star Trek game, but the deals with Paramount fell through and they couldn't acquire the license.
AValveFanboy i will agree that the gameplay was better, but in my opinion the 1st is top then 2 then 3, 3 woud be my 2nd fav but i am a butt hurt fan boy and didnt care for the ending. however i respect your opinion. so other than gameplay why do you favour 2? intreasted is all
CommanderShepardXII I just thought it played better. I enjoyed the exploration minigame, and having an ammo-based combat system instead of a overheat-based one made the gunfights a lot less random. Plus, it was awesome seeing all the characters from the first one reprise their roles.
This would have been good as a mass effect type game, or if it had gone the more....old school way of games like Star Trek Academy and Klingon Academy.
May not be the best game, but I think this is the most hilarious AngryJoe review I've seen in a while - and I'm only six minutes in watching it. That Spirk line had me cracking up :)
Oh? You want an awesome game with Star Trek-themes, that has diplomacy as well as pew-pew?? .. well.. basically, the Mass Effect-series were the real Star Trek-games. They have everything that should be in Star Trek. You have away-team action, exploration, diplomacy, personal plots as well as knitting together a strong galactic society. I remember thinking "this is just like Star Trek" multiple times when I played the first couple of playthroughs.
I've found that often, bad levels or bad design decisions were just placeholders until the devs could implement good stuff, but then the execs roll up and don't give a shit and say "Push it out!" even while every developer is saying "but it's not finished yet." And that's the world we live in.
The reason the shields keep getting lowered and raised is because Godzilla is approaching the generator.

And the delivery was perfect Kirk. "Is the...parking brake on?"

I'm not trying to justify Digital Extremes' bad job with this game but at that time they were on the verge of bankruptcy, literally.
XD...
The cutscenes look more like they came from Garry's mod.
Spock: "im afraid not sir"
Joe: "yes I am"
Rofl
6:34 Wow, Gorns have mastered the art of almost invisible heads.
and so warframe was born
Tony Sandoval warframe was made a long time before this like a very very long time ago you can see one of its original trailers from years ago before it was forced to turn into dark sector because of Microsoft or some shit
Tony Sandoval warframe is decent...
decent! its fucking great!!!
Joe's friendship with [DE]Steve started
6:31 Oh my god! That monster's head is almost invicible!
They should make a star trek game that is like mass effect 1.
Jake Lake so.. shit?
in the 6:40 fight scene, why is the head of the creature see-though?
It was meant a joke, sorry for not making that more clear.
+John Gunny mass effect 1 shepard is essentially kirk
6:35 the gorn have cloaking abilities aparrently.....
I was starting to wonder if I was the only one who noticed.
TellTale games could make a good Star Trek game. Think about it...
Bioware already made the best Star Trek game. It was called Mass Effect 2.
AValveFanboy mass effect one was the best XD
CommanderShepardXII No, I think the second was better.
So pretty much it's Uncharted with a Star Trek paint job,but with a LOT of problems.
This would have been good as a mass effect type game, or if it had gone the more....old school way of games like Star Trek Academy and Klingon Academy.
im new to this guy and he seems a cool and funny dude keep it up
Corporate commander sounds like lil wayne talking into a mug with a sore throat
"Starfleet records indicate Corporate Enerprises."
"Oh my God....."
6:35 XD The mask didn't show on the Greenscreen. Greenscreen fails are priceless.
*GENESIS... GENESIS WHATS THAT - DON'T INSULT MY INTELLIGENCE JOE*!!! 5:21 LOL xD
Now I just wanna play Warframe... or give Dark Sector another shot.
May not be the best game, but I think this is the most hilarious AngryJoe review I've seen in a while - and I'm only six minutes in watching it. That Spirk line had me cracking up :)
Haha I just realized this came out on my birthday....damn you corporate
That sucks, man. I had Spec Ops The Line on mine. Better luck this year?
Yeah hopefully
Me when i see this game in the store: *Set Phasers to Lethal*
How many times did joe say "ok"
Count.
The intro was well acted and that Spock impression was good and I am late
"Is the parking break on?" Lol.
The ship was made by Corporate Enterprises??? I thought it was manufactured by Playskool.
whats the music called at 6:25?
I wonder who plays as corporate.. Angry joe or other joe...
BakuTex im not certain but i think its jacob
I think it’s AngryJoe
Has he played Star Trek Online?
The closest game for a diplomatic Star Trek-ish kind of thing... is Mass Effect. :P
good job Joe! you're acting in the beginning was actually pretty good. I was surprised by how good you were.
One of the reasons I like Star Trek Online.....
just reminder the people who made warframe also made this
30:34 "No! No caressing!"
I died.
It's actually said that the creator of Star Trek actually based the universe and alien species on the real aliens in our universe.
"heh...elastic man"
I dont like JJ abrams. I dont like him at all.
Fuck?
Too bad.
Force Awakens is going to suck
I agree with you. I hate him with passion.
JJ is pretty shit
We have good Star Trek games. They're called Mass Effect! XD
I've found that often, bad levels or bad design decisions were just placeholders until the devs could implement good stuff, but then the execs roll up and don't give a shit and say "Push it out!" even while every developer is saying "but it's not finished yet."
And that's the world we live in.
