Thank you. Helped a lot.
Screwdriver size required:
Philips 1 - PH1 , Bottom four screws
Torx 5 - T5 , Top two screws
Philips 0 - PH0 , Inside two screws
Very helpful video. Saved me from buying the MX Master 3 which I was about to do before watching this video.
To those wondering what the size of the torx screw is, it's 5.
A UA-camr finally plays background music at a reasonable volume and it's actually a song I want to hear 😔
Bought a second one of these last year thinking the first mouse had broken. The same issue returned just yesterday on the replacement and I thought it was too much of a coincidence so thought I'd Google it. After finding this, I can't thank you enough, I now have two working mice! Spot on, perfect guide :)
Helped me, thanks. You can skip the part with the double sided tape: by scraping of the lablemake sure you are under both layers of stickers
Thanks, man! It brought my mouse back to life! I could not see the cursor, and after this tutorial, it is now fixed.
Thank you for the video! I had this mouse for six years and it now had this issue but the video helped to fix it!
I followed this and man thank you so much for this tutorial! It saved me from buying another mouse! 😄😄
Great job. It fixed my mouse which is just two years old. This is not exceptable for such an expensive mouse and Logitech should improve that. Thank you
Thanks A LOT for that marvelous HowTo ! I repaired my mouse, saved money, and the environement is happy with this !
Thank you so much, I used a hair fan to help peel the sides just enough to take out the screws out. worked like a charm.
The greatest power in life is gratitude. Many thanks
Great video - it helped me a lot. Thank you for saving so many mice from certain death with your video 🙂
Thank you very much. Easy to solve but impossible to find without your help.
This is a piece of great advice. I followed it, but it again worked. Many thanks.
Fantastic! You saved my day, I love the mouse and just didn't want to downgrade ;)
Just clicked the thumbs up with my now-working MX. Awesome!
Thanks, it works for me. I don't even know this button exists.
Great Video for me it was a 10 Minute action to bring my mouse back into operation✌
Thanks man, I was panicking, but you saved my day 🙂
The way you re-apply adhesive back on 😍
Thank you for a very useful video. I repaired my mx2 mouse with the aid of your video. God bless you
Works great. If you don't happen to have the right torx screwdriver for the two screws at the front you can just remove the 4 phillips head screws and slightly crack open the mouse (as far as needed to see where the thumb switch is located). Then you can poke through one of the screw holes at the bottom to reach to one of the screws of the switch. Loosen it. Done. Apparently loosening one of the two screws is enough, at least in my case.
Thank you for the tutorial! My mouse is working again, I thought I need to buy a new one 😭
My mx2s had the exact same problem and this fixed it. Thank you so much for sharing this!
Fantastic, you just saved me sending back the mouse to Amazon ... Thank you!

never thought that pressed gesture button can make the mouse cursor freezing.
Thank you very much! You have just saved me 2000 for a new mouse!
Perfecto, Muchas gracias por el video. Me ha solucionado el problema.
Me parece una autentioca chapuza de un mouse que si no llevara eso, seria perfecto, por ergonomia y precision.
Incredibly good solution. I was about to throw mi 2 mice to the waste basket, but this saved the day 👍
Thank you so much for sharing this. This fixed my mouse!

Fucking ridiculous that this is even a thing that you need to do on a 120 euro mouse thats only 2 years old..

Thank you sir. you're the BEST.
Spot on, worked a teat, thanks.
You saved my mx master ,thank you
Thank you so much, my mouse is working again.
If the problem persists, you can try setting the thumb button mapping to 'None' in the Logitech Options. This would disable the default desktop switching feature which freezes up your mouse when the button is held down.
Thank you! you save my day!
thank you sooooo much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you for this tutorial
I repair my MX Master !! Thank you !!

Now I just disabled the side button via logitech options
it fixed my old mx master
That's because that thumb button rubber broke and does not have the resistance of "new" and is just stuck pressing the mechanical button on the board, ugh.
Thanks...it work!!
;)
grazie funziona!
Dobrý prizvuk, co za pasku si pouzil na prilepenie tych klznych ploch. Inak fajn navod, myska zacala fungovat.
Nice
This is bad design that could be fixed with a little V shaped plastic piece that would act as a spring, resetting the gesture button's position. And notice how much free space you have inside the body, but the mouse still has no slot to store a usb dongle. I also personally hate that it doesn't have a pinky rest on the right side. Overall, the mouse is way overpriced for what it is.
Exact same problem after 3.5y. Never used that button. The mouse cursor stopped moving suddenly. I dont hear the click , probably material fatique or slight change in thickness due to sweat. I dont like the rubbery material myself. MX Master 2S
Yes. The rubber perishes and ceases to be elastic - that's why the microswitch is permanently depressed. I never used it either, so I just completely unscrewed it and stuck the board to the top of the battery with some double sided foam tape inside the body. But the rubber was disintegrating and now there's a hole. Oh well.
Is there any other way to fix this problem??
This kind of under skin button design is just bad engineering because you will have to fix this problem. From now on i will buy things with buttons visible on the exterior.
Ok so i finally did it and i just want to share this:
1. Carefully remove the bottom pads, make sure to FULLY remove it.
2. This won't actually fix the whole problem as the button wont work anymore but other than that, the mouse functions well.
The thumb button still works on mine even after doing this trick, try going to logi options and make sure you set the thumb button with the right function.
What screwdriver did you use at 2:32 to loosen the screws?
@Dolute The screwdriver used for lossening the inside screws are PH0 , Philips size 0
I have a question, was this mouse permanently stuck because of that button, or was the lagging happening only about 5% of the time (like for me)? I want to find put whether this is a connection issue or the button.
It lagged occasionally for abt 2 mths then became frequently until it got stuck. Then this helped me fix it.
Also, initially when i bought the mouse it was lagging often ... Then i read online that having the usb dongle at the back of the computer often has such issue. The i used an extender and tried plugging in in the top i/o port and it resolved it.
And now i`m back here because my actual gesture button got stuck lmao. I resolved the lagging issue probably the same way you did, Ahamed. Or maybe it was my external wi-fi receiver at the time.
still not working...
Another fix is to disable the function of the Thumb Button in the Logitech Options software :D Without opening the mouse.
not a solution but a great tip for troubleshooting. My issue is that there is power but nothing works including clicks or anything. it will fix itself after few seconds or turn off and on the mouse. but again a great tip.
skaters cost me about 15 cents from china.
just had this issue, with 1 month warranty spare. Just going to send it up hopefulyl get my money back and get a MX master 3. But if not ill do this. Its stupid i cant just disable the button in the software... were there is a option to select "none" as its function. especially when they know its an issue. theres a little plastic tab/protrusion that gets stuck if you dont use the geture button in a while and start using it. Its a well known issue. People remove the little nub, disconnect the gesture button or remove it all together.
Thank you man, you solved my problem
Thank you!
thank you
Thanks a lot
I am an Indian where this mouse is over priced to begin with. I still got this mouse thinking logitech will provide atleast 2 years warranty. This issue came within 18 months and logitech refused service. I offer to pay money and still they refused. Got so upset. Then googled the issue. found your video and fucking fixed my mice. Thanks man. Appreciate your hardwork.
What a bad service, even they know, that this is their fault. This is ridiculous.
I am sorry for you.
