I'm not sure if I exactly agree with Day9 about brood war feeling good. I bought remastered for nostalgia, and had a lot of fun. Until I sent two groups over a ramp and they decided the better course of action would be to run directly into the enemy base.
More along the lines of even workers need to be assigned to different mineral patches and whatnot. Its a big shift from playing sc2 for seven years. I already have replayed the whole campaign again for original and brood war. It's strange that me as a child might have been better than me now.
I think it feels good because there's always something to do, but too many things for even the best player to actually do. So you're constantly making decisions about what to focus on.
You don't actually need to assign every worker different mineral patches. Early game you do it because it does help them mine faster and you're not doing anything else. Later game only the most optimized of players need to be on top of assigning workers to individual mineral patches. The reason why I really like Brood War over Starcraft 2 is because I know the enemy has to struggle just as much as I am with all the controls, that and it's not as big of a deal of 'whoever has the bigger army wins' due to how difficult it is to actually throw your army into a meat grinder. It still happens, but it's not as apparent. But I'd understand why some people don't like trying to work past that, and to be honest I don't even play starcraft 1 a *lot,* but I play SC1 melee a lot more than SC2 melee. I mostly only play SC2 for P A R A S I T E and sometimes other custom games.

Didn't he have a pretty small chance to win the last game by playing volcano, and maybe having to play both. It could have killed the tar creeper and left both his minions alive which would allow him to have lethal.
