Franco, your technique for mixing the two-part epoxy for the wire slot in a tiny plastic parts bag, massaging it to combine, and then nipping the bottom corner and using it like a pastry bag is BRILLIANT. So simple, yet so effective and mess-free. THANK YOU.
I am really surprised about the chosen body material and the shrink-to-fit skin. Last year I reveived a promotion skin from my lure parts supplier and i never tried it. Beautiful crankbait! Thanks for posting and hosting Franco!🤝
That's a very realistic looking finish. Just like a real mullet in the photo. I needed bulletproof lures when I lived in Costa Rica. The fish destroyed lots of lures, some X Raps had holes and water inside and still caught fish until the hooks were ruined. Trolling lures need to be hardcore tough down there for the mackerel, jacks, and snapper teeth.
Hello from Spain, Europe. Just discovered your channel... Great video, that lure looks awesome. Great and nice explanations, great job. Thanks for sharing!
They're called Jigskinz...it's best to do a search for the best price but, here's a link barlowstackle.com/lure-paint-lure-eyes-and-lure-adhesive-tape/jigskinz-proskinz/
Nice video. Didn't notice the original date...Your shop reminds me of my own. Question: I clicked on the vid hoping to see how you "bullet proofed" your lure. The toothy guys on the pacific coast shred even some decent paint on lures... Did you try covering the skinz with epoxy, Imron clear etc? Wanted to know before experimenting with the skinz... Granted, pacific barracuda, bonito and others will likely "catch" on softer clear coats but usually not destroy the lure. Did you experiment with any clear? I'm sure pike and musky will do the same damage...Drop me a note if you can.- Mark
Well the idea is that when the skinz get trashed, you just cut it off and apply a new one. Takes two minutes, no painting no fuss, and the lure looks good as new.
since this is older video you may not see this. where do you get the shrink wrap material and do you think it would work on mag wart lures? I buy old original mag warts and repaint for chinook and steelhead on the upper Columbia river. can you paint over the shrink wrap and then clear coat with UV resin? Idea would be to get chrome shrink wrap and then paint back/belly or highlights. I apologize if this has been covered in other tutorials.
@@EngineeredAngler jigskinz has a proskinz that looks like will work on my mag warts. Looking forward to trying them out. Will have to experiment with airbrush paint for highlights I want then UV clear coat. Love catching fish on lures I paint myself. Thanks again for input, much appreciated 👍.
That is actually to "little"...the higher the wavelength the more it is in the visible light part of the spectrum, so less uv energy. It will take a long time for the resin to set...if it sets at all. Of course if you already have the lights give it a shot otherwise look for lights in the 365 to 395nm range. Best of luck.
How are you, I would like as much as possible if you could replicate the 18 cm magnum countdown lure of the rapala brand, since this lure is used a lot with payara fishing (vampire fish), I have not been able to achieve the perfect balance and the lures that I manufacture always swim to the side and end up getting up and leaving the water ... thanks in advance greetings ... congratulations on your channel, this is very good ... .

My next build is going to use this technique, thanks for sharing
I really enjoyed watching your videos!! Always something new. Thank you.
Appreciate you watching!
The weighting (balancing) tips is very useful. I am going to try to apply it in my wooden lures. Thank you. 👍👍👍
Glad it was helpful!
Great to see a new video online! ❤ thanks for your work! It's a great inspiration!
Glad you enjoy it!

Nice build with new technology with the Jig shrink wrap. Never seen this type of cover. Wonder if it could be coated for more protection from teeth/
Those skins look really good, nice looking lure 👌👍
Thanks 👍

Love Costa....only did a little fishing while there.

I have to know, how has it held up? Im a little on the fence about the jigskinz, they are an awesome idea but crazy over priced for what they are.
I agree...too expensive! They seem to hold up ok...about as good as a paint and clear coat finish.

Great video. I learned a lot. I would like to find that shrink wrap. What would I search for to find it? Thanks
@kentuckyken Thank you.
Franco, what do you normally make your dive bills out of and about how thick is that material? Thanks Alex
Normally I buy them but when I make them I use 3/32 lexan or 1/16 aluminum
Did you clear coat the bait after shrink wrapping? If not, are you able to use UV resin over the top without affecting the quality of the cellulose?
My intention was to make the simplest finish possible, so no clear coat. I have not tried clear coat over the the skin.

Not sure they make a chrome shrink wrap. I think I put a link to the jig skins in the description but if not, look u "jig skins" on line.
@@EngineeredAngler Think I will just tinker with your foil wrap technique. Thanks for getting back to me so fast. Have an awesome Thanksgiving!

I watched your videos about UV lights and I was wondering I just bought UV lights that are 405nm is that too much?
