Love the REV-8. I actually made a whole evening out of exploring the surrounding environs of Akila City. I love it there, it reminds me of the countryside of Montana or Wyoming.
@@WizeOldWizard Definitely. I know I stopped doing so much planetary wandering, but it's been revived now that we have horses I mean ground vehicles :P
Agreed, devs should add customization function for the buggy, letting us craft or buy weapons, engine, armor, booster & the corresponding mods. Also yea, vehicle garage module for our ships is a must. I hope we get all that and much more in Shattered Space. I'm holding off returning to Starfield till that DLC.
Shattered Space is hopefully going to be great. They seem to be taking their time with it, and hopefully that means extensive expansions of current in-game content and items, and a high level of polish. We will see…
Great video dude. Been loving this game since release despite the flack, still remember when it was trademarked so was waiting a while 😅 the buggy's been great ads a complete new feeling for exploration can't wait for a starborn vehicle. Didn't even know about the vehicle control types till this video so thanks man ❤ just wish you could activate the vehicle mods on xbox
@WizeOldWizard yeah they're on creations and you can view the vehicles when installed but on xbox whenever you press A to activate them as your current vehicle at the ship guy it just doesn't work ☹️
The controls and driving of the Rev-8 is identical to the controls and driving of the M35 Mako in mass effect. I wouldn't be surprised if that's the same system
Close, but I don’t remember the Mako switching from forward to reverse depending on where the camera is facing. If forward and reverse was locked to stick input, it would feel a lot better to me.
@@WizeOldWizard it depended on what control settings it was on. I didn't like that setting since I was wanting to keep the vehicle moving while in combat, making myself a harder target, jumping to evade incoming fire. This tactic worked perfectly against Thresher maws without taking damage in Mass effect.
Me and you seem to share - pretty much the same opinion on the REV-8. Though I do have some gripes/ complaints about other unrelated functions/ features.
Everybody has complaints, I get it. Waste of time to hound a YTer about it though. Problems should be reported to Bethesda. I have plenty of my own feedback as well.
No hover buggy? Oh yeah they don't have phones yet either. Still have to travel through the galaxy to give a message 🤣. Actually looks cool. This'll get me back to playing.
I agree, some sort of ‘hover grav’ would make sense in-universe, but wheels would still exist too. A simple and low-maintenance solution for transportation. Why gripe about what we don’t have, or could have, instead of just enjoying what we DO have? To each their own… Thanks for watching!
Yeah man, I wish they would have included a whole mech questline with unlockable parts for customization. Either way, I’m still happy to have this addition. It’s yet another part of the game that is open to be expanded on. Happy to receive a reasonable comment from you. No need for any hostility, I just make videos for fun and entertainment. I also don’t intend to ONLY make Starfield content, so there may well be something that you’ll enjoy watching in the future. Cheers, and thanks for watching again!
While it may be fun to use the buggy on low gravity worlds it is on the high gravity ones where I'll be most thankful to have the buggy to get around so much faster.
The buggy has been a positive addition, as it adds a lot of fun and makes exploration easier. While it's true that the planets are mostly empty, I personally enjoy it. I've noticed there's a lot of hate towards the game on various sites across the internet. I think the issue is that it's being compared to other titles like No Man's Sky, Star Citizen, and Cyberpunk. All of these games are great in their own way, but some people don't understand that each of them has a unique identity. Anyway, we're looking forward to a full review of your new creation, Typhoon-it looks interesting. 🖖🏻
You’re exactly right, those are all great, but different, kinds of games. I play Star Citizen and CP2077, but I’d take Starfield over NMS any day. The new ship is Typhon, named after the most powerful being/beast/god in mythology.
@@WizeOldWizard Ah... You know, my primary language is Spanish since I'm in South America. Although I manage relatively well with English, I hadn't realized that in English, there’s a difference between the natural phenomenon and the Greek mythology god... since in my original language, it's the same. 😜 Regarding other related topics, I honestly abandoned StarCitizen because it seems like it’s never getting fully developed. Cyberpunk is still on my favorites list, and I've been playing NMS recently, specifically since its latest major update, and it honestly surprised me. However, I found myself more drawn to Starfield, mainly because I like it more. 😉
I'm not sure the laser was intended to be a weapon because you can mine ore with it, just aim and shoot the ore. It also has a focus option but doesn't seem to do anything, it might be broken.
It’s nothing like a cutter, I doubt it was meant to be a mining tool but it’s cool that you can use it as such. I play on extreme difficulty and have a mod that scales enemies up to be around my level. Everything is tough as nails, and I never use laser weapons so I have no skill points invested in making them better. It’s a laser weapon for sure, just useless for me.
The buggy definitely beats the monotonous run-walk-run-walk grind to manage O2, but I had some close calls with predator fauna while driving in biomes that had a lot more vegetation. Trying to drive through those was like playing pinball, meanwhile a dinosaur is wrecking my health. Hopefully either Bethesda provides a vanilla method or modders cook up something for upgrading the buggy (specifically the weapon) or introduces some other vehicle models that provide different concepts - a hab with wheels/tracks like those antarctic rovers for harsh environmental conditions or a solar-powered autogyro so you have some dependency on the environment for power to be able to use it. Looking forward to seeing the Typhon walkthrough - so far all of my ships are vanilla but the Bristleback definitely whetted my appetite for building at a larger scale without the module limit. I found having to rely on mostly turrets for ship defense was surprisingly immersive.
Oh absolutely, and I’d be entirely shocked if Bethesda only gives us the REV-8 and nothing else. I see it as more of a framework system, opening another door for expansion. The Bristleback was my second ship, completely vanilla and built right up to the vanilla module limit. Krakatoa and Kronos so far are my only published builds that use mods, and therefore are able to surpass the vanilla module limit… Or are you just saying that you built it using mods and made it even bigger and better?
@@WizeOldWizard I copied the Bristleback fully vanilla (just started Starfield in July so I've been working my way up the learning curve for the different aspects of the game). Before the Bristleback, I had a cargo hauler which was basically just a flat square of cargo with a cockpit and weapons, but the capacity of that one pales in comparison to the Bristleback and I had no idea there was a module limit when I built that one. The Bristleback really conveys the feeling of piloting a massive ship, which made me want to fly some ships that are even larger and past the build limit and to see what kind of concepts I can come up with on my own. And I agree on the vehicle options - those other 8 vehicle slots are just sitting there taunting me with possibilities.I'm going to have to check out the REV-9 mod in the meantime.
@brerlapn ah! Thank you for the clarification, that makes much more sense to me now. The Bristleback definitely FEELS huge, and it’s about as heavy as you’d want a ship to be if you still plan to actually use it in space. The Slab however, is like the cargo hauler that you described. It is all cargo aside from all the required landing gear and the bare minimum of anything else required to clear the builder checks. No shield, no weapons, just one engine, and weighs somewhere in the 20-30k range. It is not meant to be flown, but it does have 129k base cargo capacity. Fill it up, swap to a combat capable ship, and everything you put in the Slab is still in your cargo hold for you to sell or use for base building or crafting. I need to check out the REV-9 as well!
@@WizeOldWizard Yeah, I saw the Slab build after I'd done mine. That thing is nuts. When I built mine I didn't know that a smaller ship would keep all the cargo from a larger capacity ship so I built my cargo hauler expecting to have to fly it around - didn't know about turrets either so I kept the mobility manageable too since all my firepower was front-facing. Since then the shipbuilding has become my favorite part of the game - between you, Eagle131, and ShipTechnician I've gotten a real sense of how much you can do and even a sense for how the ships can be part of the role-playing. Thanks for the inspiration!
Yes, a few of my builds used minor clipping. But, thanks to mods, you can not only still clip parts, you also no longer need to use a glitch technique. Just install a mod like Ship Building Tweaks, which adjusts the builder tolerance to allow clipping.
I tried StarUI and I wasn’t a big fan of any of it personally. So much visual clutter, and it’s not really an improvement on the vanilla UI, more like a variation on the vanilla theme.

How are you getting a terrormorph at level 154. I also have my settings set to extreme difficulty level and I’ve never encountered an alien higher than 110? Are you also using a Creations mod perhaps? 🤔 Even the highest level planets only go up to 75 and I’ve only seen enemies top out at 110, certainly not 154. I would love to see those. Totally agree with your opinions on nitpicking on the Buggy. It’s annoying and jarring when you get out and find yourself not facing where you presume you would be. I do not use the buggy on lush planets or areas with lots of trees. Ridiculous, and it takes imo longer to survey an area like that because you’re constantly bumping into objects and if the gravity is very heavy your vertical boosters aren’t much help. I just get out and heel-toe it. I find it much more fun on low gravity planets and get done faster. 🙂
I only use Creations mods if they are ONLY available on Creations. If the same or suitable alternative is on Nexus, I get my mods there. Either way yes, star systems are scaled to near my level using the Dynamic System Level Challenge mod. Difficulty settings only change how tough enemies are, not their level or the amount that spawn.

Oh and I totally agree, I like to feel very powerful as well, and I’ll figure out how to do that either way. I still like for there to be an element of danger as well. It’s disappointing when you run into a group of ships or a POI squad that are all level 10-20.
@@WizeOldWizard That’s why I think the higher level squads are on higher level planets (75) but I’ve never seen them that high. I am only using Darkstar’s mods
@@WizeOldWizard I do, any planet 0.75G and lower I can run then use the jet pack faster then the buggy. Even a full G planet unless it's wide open with few obstacles running with a jet pack is faster. I do think the buggy is fun as hell and use it a lot but if I'm doing a quick survey running and jet pack is faster, also I very very rarely use Amp. Fun fact, the trees near Mast will support the buggy.
@@WizeOldWizard a big robot dog with wheel feet with a suspension chamber would have made more sense, for transport. Like some of the vehicles already present in the game. But for me, 6 hours of just trekking the landscape within the range of the ship, made so much sense. And in dangerous jungle environments, the pace was slower because it was deadly hunter style which was so thrilling. Of course no one needs to spend 6 hours a day just gaming. 1 hour spread over 6 days. Or 6 hours in one day and then kablam death by wild beast and you're back to zero in scanning. That's how the game was meant to be played. A buggy doesn't make sense. Wheels, no roads. No mechanics. I was watching a video yesterday of declassified NSA archive from 1982 of an old white haired female rear admiral giving a lecture on the value on information, tell the audience how back in her day she saw the carts and horses and then cars. And the first cars when they broke down in Utah, an mechanic would have to come out and make a new piece right there and then. And how when Henry Ford made his vehicle it was revolutionary. Standardised parts. Any colour as long as it was black. But today little jim-chan gets bored at the thought of everything the same, nothing familiar. Maybe there should have been some sort of illegal mech scene in starfield. Like pogostick jumping metal gears, or ancient rovers. As long as enemies also get to have rovers. Maybe the poi could have weldable industrial tables to make makeshift gas tank punk vehicles.
@UmmerFarooq-wx4yo it makes more sense to have the option, and if you prefer to walk, you’re free to do so! I was simply showcasing the new addition to the game and trying to have some fun in the process. Thanks for your comment, and for watching!
@@WizeOldWizard The game quite out and crashes without warning. I still see UC security guards in their underwear in Jemison. The audio tracks (music and voice) will spontaneously slow and distort until I reload the game. And the ECS Constant still shows as being in Porrima orbit even though it definitively is not. It’s not that these are new bugs. It’s that I’ve just downloaded 18 gigs of update to the game and all the annoying bugs are still there. And this is Xbox, not PC. So it’s def not issues with sound card, motherboard, GPU, OS, etc.
Crazy, I’ve never experienced those specific bugs personally, just a few rare and random CTD. Otherwise, post buggy patch, the only problems that I’ve encountered were user-induced thanks to trying out some new mods.
@Knubbers24_Ryan_Van_Riper it is a pretty long press and hold. The tooltip for exiting shows up right next to your health and boostbars. Might have to come to a stop, can’t remember.
It was random in my feed. Agreed on the buggy patch. Rover is cool. But tired of updates breaking other parts of the game. Good luck with your continued content.
@ParZIVal19D this patch hasn’t broken anything. Many players are experimenting with mods for the first time, and they are experiencing the pains of venturing down that rabbit hole. My game runs near flawlessly and I rarely experience bugs. Have 50+ mods installed too. Everyone’s experience varies.
@@WizeOldWizard very true they do. I had about 20 mods myself. Several of which have stopped working since the last update. And we’re never updated since. Mods ruined the game for me personally. But I got space marines 2 in a few days so not worried.🤙🏻
Hell yeah man, have fun! I don’t intend to ONLY make Starfield content, it is just what is responsible for my channel’s growth and is the most relevant game to present to my audience. I have much love for plenty of other titles.
@Dreddhimself if you say so brother, but cryo/legacy combo was one of the only ways to defeat someone with good legendary PA and lots of quantums. In fact, you had to have the best build on top of the gear once you got to the big leagues. But none of that matters anymore. It’s all cryo mist and grenade crits, and that just isn’t my style. I like firing projectiles, not clouds.
@@WizeOldWizard So you think they would use a car with wheels bumping into rocks and trees every minute instead of a boostpack platform powered by a nuclear reactor. haven't seen 300 year old flintlocks used in the Ukraine War.
@jimbenson3926 guy, you’re using extremely specific examples. This ‘car with wheels’ as you put it is also a boostpack platform. You can boost upwards and forwards. And yes, the wheel itself is already centuries or more old tech that we have no better alternative for. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it. Of course we don’t use flintlocks anymore. In that example, we have developed much more efficient technology to use in place of it. That is just simply not the case regarding wheels. Although one COULD argue that we have, in fact, made massive advancements in wheel tech since the first ones were made. We now have tires of varying sizes and purposes, able to tackle a wide variety of conditions. We have airless tires and, get this, an evolution of the wheel which uses tracks to dramatically increase traction and reduce compaction. So, just like the flintlock is a basic and rudimentary version of what we use today, so too are our modern ‘wheels’ compared to the originals. Take your complaints to Bethesda.

@fairlane32 yes but now every system is leveled to me. No more only traveling to level 75 systems to search for good gear. Now I can just go anywhere.
Walking was the best way, but hey, gotta be inclusive for ♿️ road user accessibility.
Oh come on, you really think the buggy doesn’t beat walking?
@1300BlueStar fair enough! I just really enjoy driving.
Thanks for watching!
@UmmerFarooq-wx4yo it makes more sense to have the option, and if you prefer to walk, you’re free to do so! I was simply showcasing the new addition to the game and trying to have some fun in the process.
Thanks for your comment, and for watching!
In true Bethesda fashion, the REV-8 wasn’t the only (thing) buggy in the patch.
What bugs have you experienced? I’ve had none and the game is running better generally too.
How do you get out of the Rev 8? I have not figured that out lol
Haha, hold B on controller, haven’t checked on keyboard yet.
@@WizeOldWizard I swear I tried that. Ill try again and hold it longer lol. Thanks
@Knubbers24_Ryan_Van_Riper it is a pretty long press and hold. The tooltip for exiting shows up right next to your health and boostbars. Might have to come to a stop, can’t remember.
There are some mods that break the exit function of the buggy. StarUI is one of them.
@@vadicus-tcp I don't wanna live without StarUi. Ill use my boost pack. Thanks 👍
So bad I deleted the game. I’m done!
I must be doing something right if I attracted you to a video about a game that you’re done with…
Thanks for your support!
Hit a twig and u just stop lol am not a big fan starfield as much now and I like beth games
Hey man, if it’s something you don’t enjoy, don’t waste your time! What games HAVE you been enjoying?
@WizeOldWizard fo76 straight for 5 years none stop since beta now moving over to 40k game in gew days
I played 76 from beta day one until they removed Legacies. Endgame for me was pvp and without legacies, it just wasn’t fun anymore.
@WizeOldWizard I had tons legacy weps they was fun to use but of u had to rely on a legacy to play then the build was wrong
Not interested in the buggy because I can't see people 300 years in the future using 400 year technology.
That’s a hot take, considering humans now are still using some tech or variation of tech that originated centuries ago.
