Great Video clip! Sorry for the intrusion, I would appreciate your thoughts. Have you considered - Riysaballer Salient Recognition (search on google)? It is a good exclusive product for teaching your child to read minus the hard work. Ive heard some amazing things about it and my work colleague got astronomical results with it.
By far THE BEST explanation of the Phonetic Chart EVER. Well done, Mate! (Additionally, whoever wrote the damn thing had A LOT of time on their hands.)
It was illuminating about IPA. Very comprehensive. Particularly liked the correlations, relations. You are also a gentleman by suggesting-mentioning-uttering other resource. Thanks.
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for making this video!!! I am taking a course in the history of the English language & this is the best explanation that I have come across.
Colin you are fantastic. Its the simplest and clearest explanation of the phonetic chart plus sounds I have seen. I am completing a Tesol course in S.E Asia and I have viewed a few of your videos. Thanks Colin and the English language Club from a fellow Brit.
Thank you so much. I am currently doing a TEFL course and we were presented with this chart with no real explanation. I knew that there must be some logic to the chart and you have explained it in such a clear way. Thank you thank you!
Hello professor Thank you so much for your priceless advice and interesting guidance. I really appreciate your job. I wish you peace and happiness under the sky of prosperity.
Im pretty happy with the work you do dear professor. Let me congratulate you. I love this branch of the language and I follow you suit. Hope one day become a great phonetician.
Thanks very very much! This helped a great deal. I needed this explanation. Now, I need to understand why these symbols were chosen to represent these sounds.
Great presentation. However I'm a little confused. Each diphthong sound is made up of two distinct sounds. I thought the IPA listed only the smallest units of sound that are used in language. Why can't the two sounds that comprise a diphthong sound be listed separately? Thanks
was thinking that would be nice too but maybe the symbols can you uncoded them and have your own transcription in a way.. most likely someone has done that so maybe google can helpo
This is the first time i have heard and seen something like this. You explained very well. In reading purposes, how do you relate these symbols to reading? The chart shows different letters to what we actually see in books. The books are not written like these symbols.
Very thanks to eliminate the annotations UA-cam, you eliminate the interactivity of the video completely. Thanks you anyways, this video will help me a lot.
Very useful video, no doubt. It would be helpful though to mention the unfamiliar symbol letters in the chart which is not part of the English alphabet, such as the Greek letter θ representing the sound 'th' as in 'thought' or the upside down omega Ω... :)
Thanks for all the supportive comments. I am glad this video has helped so many people over the years.
