I didn't even notice the howling at all until Dark age where it's literally written in text "awooooo" once. It doesn't even compare to the "beep beep Richie" from IT or "m o o n that spells [blank]" from the stand, those I got sick off by the 3rd time, by the 100th time I wanted to throw these books across the room.
First-person-perspective plays a key role in every aspect of the mind of Darrow and keeping the reader in suspense. The same way Darrow is hiding himself from The Golds and his mission, the narrative is being revealed to the reader the same way. It’s unexpected and at the same time we can completely understand that it all makes sense because we are only in Darrow’s head and his inner thoughts.
That's the great / terrible thing about being a reader. We'll never get to read everything that we want to read, but we'll never run out of books. I'm glad we have similar tastes. Maybe we can give each other recommendations. Thanks for the comment.
Personally I think the series is just a step up in quality the further in your go. Red Rising is okay, Golden Son is good, Morning Star is great and so on. Although I have had friends tell me golden son is their favorite in the original trilogy but I liked Morning Star the best.
I'm halfway through Dark age and morning star is still peak. The final 70 pages is a core memory, I planned to leave it for the next day because it was getting late but then Pierce was like "nuh uh"
Do you take recommendations? May i, recommend Robert Musil's : The Man Without Qualities...It belongs next to the towering classics of the 20th century...but seems to be often overlooked...if you are particularly courageous...read it in the original German "Der Mann Ohne Eigenschaften"..hehe!!
Yeah that's a good shout. I need to dive into that series. There's just so many series that I'm excited to read now. I still haven't started with Robin Hobb yet.
Nicely done as always, question tho, what’s happened to the June TBR? Forgoing till July after the chaotic recent month? Just curious, look forward to the next one.
Oooh you caught me. Yes you're right everything got so crazy and I didn't think I should release a June TBR half way through June. We'll be back to regular programming next month haha.

Been waiting a while for this one! Was sorry to hear you weren’t a fan of Morning Star. Will you be reading/reviewing The Sun Eater series?

My wife just bought me this trilogy. I can't wait to start diving into it within the next few months!
That's awesome Danny! I hope you enjoy it mate. Thanks so much for commenting.
I so love this series! I'm very much anticipating Red God! 🐺
I'm so glad. I'm going to continue to read the series but I'm just taking a little break after Morning Star.
@@PaperbackJourneys good idea! Because... it gets a bit darker as Darrow gets older. 🫣🐺📖🥰
