Do you ever wonder why you can UNDERSTAND a lot of English but not COMMUNICATE FLUENTLY?
Well, I recently got this comment on a UA-cam video from someone named Yahyo.
I don't understand why I can't speak or write like you, but I can understand almost every person who speaks like you in English. When I try to speak or write in English, my words disappear in my mind. What's the problem with my mind, Teacher? I look for words during conversations.
If you have this problem, it’s NOT your fault. I truly believe that ANYONE can become a fluent speaker of English, but that traditional schools make communication very difficult.
The REAL problem is that traditional lessons put EXTRA STEPS between you and the English you want to learn. Steps like rule memorization, confusing explanations and translations. So when you try to speak, you must REVERSE these steps, making you lose your words, think and translate in conversations.
Now, there IS actually a very simple solution to this common problem, but before I share it, here’s a quick quiz:
Question 1. Can you name 10 Will Smith movies? I’ll give you a few seconds.
Question 2. Which of these 10 Will Smith movies do you like?
The second question was a LOT easier than the first, right?
    Try two more questions:
Question 1. Will Smith’s latest movie is Aladdin. What movie did he appear in right before Aladdin?
Question 2. Do you think the visual effects in the new Aladdin movie look real or fake?
Again, the second question was MUCH easier than the first.
So what movie did Will Smith appear in before Aladdin? An Indian movie called Student of the Year 2.
Now, you likely didn’t know that, even if you’re a Will Smith fan, but can you remember what YOU had for lunch two days ago?
Even recent things in our OWN lives are difficult to RECALL.
But we can very easily RECOGNIZE things when we have options to choose from.
This is why shopping websites show you your search history, and why a cooking site might show you some meals to CHOOSE, rather than ask you to REMEMBER your favorite foods.
So what does all this mean for English learners like you?
When you listen or read, you’re RECOGNIZING information. But when you SPEAK, you must RECALL information instantly to communicate without hesitation.
See why so many people can UNDERSTAND what I’m saying right now but not SPEAK like I do?
You already know how hard it is to RECALL information, even with things in YOUR language in YOUR life. But do you now understand why fluent communication becomes EVEN MORE DIFFICULT when you add the extra steps of traditional English lessons?
    So what’s the solution?
With time, you can become an automatic speaker by learning conversational, spoken English - all in English - in simple, easy steps.
But because I know you want something that will help you improve your speaking RIGHT NOW, let me share a secret I discovered about remembering words that helped me become a fluent speaker of Japanese.
It’s a simple trick taken from the world of BUSINESS, not language learning, and it can help you express yourself more quickly and naturally, like natives do, TODAY.
To discover this secret for yourself, click here: bit.ly/2YKI5Dq
If you struggle to express yourself because your words disappear in conversations, TAKE ACTION and solve this frustrating problem by clicking here: bit.ly/2YKI5Dq
You CAN transform the way you speak if you let me show you how.

We basically have two vocabularies in our mind, an active and a passiv one. The passive one is pretty much always larger than the active one and allows you to understand stuff. The active one allows you to produce stuff. This holds true even in your native language, but its even more pronounced in a foreign one.

The simple answer is you are not English and its not your first language, there is absolutely nothing wrong with you. This is also vice versa to an English person when it comes to your language. Yes, English is recognized globally but not being able to speak it is not a psychological problem. Like any other foreign language you just need to learn it from elementary. Its like learning any other subject, you have to be willing and desiring to. You don't have to learn the accent, you can speak English in your own language and once others get used to it, they will understand. However, accents cab be acted, if you are good at imitating, the easier, but why strain yourself. Go for an English Tutor and start from there to learn the conversational phrases and sentences. Algebra is hard but can be learned and so is English. Accent is nothing to worry about, its what differentiate every nation from another.

Because 99.99% of English teachers are dumb. There are three main principles to learn speak English: Repeating, Graduated Interval Recall, and the most important is Principle of Anticipation and actively answering questions. Only two teachers from the whole universe implemented these principles in their materials Pimsleur and Rosen Sherman. All other teacher who claim that they teach to speak English should be fined for lying and wasting student's time, because they teach listing skills but falsely claimed that they tech speaking.

I am a native English speaker. I know German and Spanish which I have self taught myself slowly over the past 10+ years. I am not fluent by any means still, because I haven't immersed myself in those cultures. But I can recognize and understand at least hundreds or possibly over 1000 words in both languages. Spanish ones can be easy at times because English incorporated a lot of Latin words normally, but also due to the Norman invasion of England. So French derived words make up a lot of English. But then on the other side of the coin I can understand a LOT of words from other Germanic languages, which English is a part of with German, Dutch, and the 3 main Scandinavian languages as well as other less significant ones.
I think that being a native English speaker we already have the keys to learn any Western European language very easily. But I think complex grammar in German with the genders and word order being very different in many cases can make things overly difficult. But overall I may not be fluent in those 2 languages, but it helps me to read and understand closely related languages pretty sufficiently. Portuguese and Dutch can be fun to read for me since they are kind of similar to Spanish and English respectively. I find myself understanding a lot more than I should be able to just becasue I hop around from one language to the other without mastering any one. But I would say I know more German and Spanish so I can kind of get by in them.

It's not just happened when it comes to using foreign languages, When speaking your own native language, it's almost the same situation. You can easily understand poems, novels in your native language, but it's hard for you to write down poems, novels or sentences as the same level or same quality in your native language.
Why can't you write those fantastic words by yourself? Why listening is much easier than speaking or writing?
Because, listening is input, What you need to do is just understanding some key words of the sentences, then you will grab the whole meaning. You don't have to care about how to organize the structures of the sentences, the rhythm, the grammar... But when you want to write or speak something, it's output. you have to think about how to organize the structures, the grammar, how to choose words from a lot of synonyms, a much more things you have to do compare to listening.
So don't panic, listening skill is always way ahead speaking skill, that's normal. and what you should do is like me, trying to write something as much as you can and don't be afraid of mistakes. As you output more and more, you will find how to organize the sentences, how to use the words properly, how to use the grammar correctly.

The problem is the schools. Kids who barely knows english or doesn't understand english at all are forced to learn the rules of english rather than english in general. Let the kids be comfortable with english. Talking in english. Listening in english by constantly practicing them to speak hear, write thw language. Then if they're comfortable with it. Thats when you correct them with the rules. Its like teaching a kid who doesn't know how to play basketball all the rules first rather than letting him be comfortable dribbling and shooting the ball. You're gonna end up stressing the kid and probably bore him to death and eventually quits. Same with english

Theres a point where you know enough of the language to understand someone or something, yet forming a logical and grammatically correct sentence in response is more difficult. For instance I leaned spanish in school. I know enough to understand when something is said to me in spanish, but I dont remember how to speak and I forgot all the important grammar rules.

I express my feelings according the vocabulary I rule of. But understanding by listening is not all up to me. It is possible that I don't know the words that uses the speaker. That I don't recognise the sounds. And if he speaks to fast, it will be for me impossible to understand.

Find a native English-speaking friend online and talk with them on Skype. You will increase your vocabulary and your English speaking friend can help you with pronunciation. I don't recommend that you talk to yourself.

Vocabulary is the most important part of learning ANY language. Play with words - learn different wordforms and PRACTICE. Grammar will come with practice. Don't focus on grammar in the beginning.

Makes perfect sense. I speak 5 languages and understand about 10 in total.
I used to wonder why it was easier to understand and not speak those other languages.

Exposure, thats the key. And of course, practice. Learning english by studying conscioussly leads us to be able to understand meanings, but somehow fail in speaking fluently. We need to learn to think in english instead of translating before speaking. Picking up the language should help in improving your speaking skills. Just like a native speaker learn his/her first language, by acuisition, not by studying. So, if you want to improve your speaking skills heres what you can do.
    1. Learn pronunciation. You will be more confident if you know you can pronounce the words correctly.
    2. Listen to native speakers speaking naturally. It is tuning your ears as to get familiar with the sounds. You can also pick up patterns subconsciously in this process.
    3. Practice. If you think you cannot find a partner, theres always yourself. The one partner whom you can talk to anytime. 😁

I think that this problem have its roots in the fact that our brain saves energy by recognising words by patterns; like when we read. We don’t need to recognise every letters in the words. When it comes to speak our brain have to make extra effort to remember the words in their complete form.

This is kind of a thing with every language out there. Idk exactly why it happens, but I think it’s because when we listen or read something, we understand it because of context clues and specific words. We’re able to pinpoint what it means due to the fact that we have a very specific set of words. Yet when it comes down to forming our own sentences, there are so many options to choose from that it takes awhile to comb through all of them. Think of it as a multiple choice question vs a written question; that’s the best way I can put it.

I often think of what's going on during a conversation. What if I find some new words that I don't understand while I'm talking with someone, what should I do, should I tell them that I don't understand those words and start opening my dictionary and look for those words. That must be very awkward moment 😭😭

To Be honest , i try using a lot of applications about English language but no one helped me , I think the only solution to speak fluently is to create real conversation in the real life with someone has same English level , so by this way you can't feel shy or compare yourself

The real secret to fluency - the same way you got fluent in your native language - is to UNDERSTAND English like a native. Read this: ua-cam.com/video/Y2itvxcn1ao/v-deo.html :)
