Great video. I was just about to mention the missing partition between the dinette and the bed. I have a 2006 model, and thinking of removing the partition. I like those years like yours of having the A/C in the closet instead of on top. Less room in the closet, but allows you to put an extra solar panel on top, if need be. I had an ‘87 that had neither the A/C, nor the fantastic fan, but just the hatch. I know the battery can be upgraded to a group 31, but not sure what year that started. Good job.
You mentioned you bought yours used can I ask you how much you paid for it? The modifications are amazing and well thought out. Very thorough. Looking forward to watching your other videos.
Hi, I just found out that the deceptive ad practices by the Casita Enterprises, Inc. of Rice, Texas are against the law in Texas. So for anyone who went to Casita with an ad from RVTraders or someplace else; and Casita didn’t honor their ad discounts of extras like awnings, large water tanks or high rise packages. You may file a complaint with Texas Attorney General Office and collect your refund. Here is what to ask for Texas guides consumer protection from deceptive ads. Make sure you have a copy of that ad. I have copies of the March to May 2020 and the August to the September 2020 ad. You can reach me at Ronny Noll - FB
Whats the weight? I have a 2016 Jeep Cherokee and called the dealer and he said it can only tow up to 2000 pound trailer. I also have two ebikes so thats about 200 pounds.
Hi there. Great video. Lots and lots of details that are really appreciated. In a week or so, I have an appointment to see a 1998 Casita which, hopefully, will become my first camper. Many thanks to you for a great tour. Love your ideas and love the "walk around". I did subscribe and will be following you throughout your adventures. Be well and happy travels.
OK, of all the Casita vids I've been watching, yours is the most useful to me as it shows how one can actually be organized and used. Seeing your older shower area, I can say I think i like the older style sink setup in yours over the newer style. Thanks for the great video.
Haha, it's fine. Most people who give tours of their rigs pretty them all up ahead of time so they look better on camera. Not me. When you live full-time in a trailer and camp in the desert everything's going to get dusty. I showed mine exactly how it was - just keeping it real. :)
You're welcome Debbie! Yes, there are so many options that it can get overwhelming. Just take your time, and see as many rigs in person as you can. Videos are great but still don't give a sense of scale that only an in-person visit does. :)
My camper is 17 feet, but to be honest, I have a lot more space. It is different, but has an oven and a bathtub/shower.Refrig. And separate freezer. But it seems t be perfect for this young Lady.
I really want one of them but they are so expensive. I been doing the vanlife for 4 years now but i upgrading to a travel trailer this year.safe travels
I have a1999 Scamp with an almost identical layout. I think the components (shelves etc,) are either built off the same molds or purchased from the same source. Scamp does build their own shells however. The two "brands" are very similar. So there are at least a couple of options for this type of rig. However, Scamps are probably as expensive as Casitas. Mine is worth about what I paid for it in 2007 so there's not much depreciation over time.
Looks like a fun little space. They really figured out how to fit everything in there, even a shower! Very cool. I'd love something like this to travel the country with. :) Thank you for sharing your adventures with everyone. It's really fun to watch your videos and dream about the day I will also do this.
Love your setup. Great tour. I've been planning on getting a small Airstream for years but never really checked out the other options. This looks like a remarkable alternative. Thanks for sharing. Very impressive. I found one locally and I just might have to go take a look at it. I'm still about two years away from retirement (when I'll actually need it for traveling). I love these small ones. Just got to get a fancier hitch for my Jeep. One more expenditure/investment while I still have a job.
I love your Casita!!! It is very pretty and you are so organized. I’m enjoying your videos so keep them coming. I especially love the ones where you give advice that is actually useful. Interested in Solar and Workamping videos.
One of the most interesting things I noticed inside was the homemade stove vent! You didn't mention it at all. It's definitely not stock, and an neat piece of engineering.
I live fulltime in a 21' Starcraft. Am going to check out Casitas this week. They seem to be so much better built than the rest. As I've aged (69) Ive really trended to minimalism and I love it. Thank you so much for an excellent video! I will continue to watch. Calvin retired Geezer Firefighter. Check out my channel, its low key!😄
Boondocking is camping for for free, on public land, without designated sites (dispersed camping), and without hookups. It's mostly found out west, Bureau of Land Management and Forest Service land. This video was filmed on such a piece of land, I was camped right there with that view for free for seven days, relying on my solar panel to generate electricity and conserving my water tank to make it last. :) If you'd like to know more about boondocking you can read my article here: interstellarorchard.com/2016/05/24/boondocking-answers/
Thanks for the detailed tour. U said u can’t use ac while boondocking. How do u use the microwave? I like how you have a truck for storage and u had it before. I have a 10 year old SUV and am “researching” for a good year while I downsize so I can travel for months at a time. I keep going between vandwelling at first, then tow light trailer if I really like the traveling, or sell van n get a truck camper, or even a cargo van like Nissan NV250. Right now I’ve been “practicing” living in my SUV for a week at a time urban stealth camping, going to gym to shower, eating raw, healthy foods, sleeping in various locations undetected so I know I can live in small quarters but I have trouble getting into back of SUV to sleep hence the need for something lower.. I am retired and not as flexible as in my youth so I need to think ahead to be comfortable for the next 10 years. I’m gonna look at your older vids to try to learn what I need to survive. Be safe, Mo from NJ and...
Thanks for subscribing and I hope you continue to find my channel helpful and inspiring! I don't use the A/C or microwave while boondocking, 100 watts of solar is not enough to power either. But both are great to have when I have hookups. Practicing and getting a feel for what you need and want in an RV is a great idea! It's hard to narrow down the choices to find the perfect rig, but I'm sure the right choice will make itself known to you in time. Take care!
Thanks for the tour. It is fun to compare yours with mine. I love all of the little modifications the original owner made to yours. You mentioned possibly replacing your microwave with a convection one. Have you found one that fits? What about one of those toaster ovens that are convection? Do you think they would get too hot for the space?
Great tour! I really appreciated how you went through every space in detail, showing everything. So many tours are so heavily focused on people talking about themselves that they hardly touch on the vehicle or trailer or whatever that they're talking about. I mean, they can tell me more about how they feel about a space than they do actually show me the space! So again, good job and thanks for showing us the specifics!
Not really anything for the work-camping jobs, my resume etc. is all electronic and stored on my computer. The paperwork I keep in that box is stuff for the IRS, maintenance records on my rig, insurance paperwork, etc.
My passport counts as proof for I9 docs (before I had that I used my driver's license + a certified copy of my birth certificate) and I cary my college and highschool diplomas, yes.
I'm late, but, what the hell.....for the rust on the stabilizer jacks, grabs some WD-40 and other rust repellent at your local Auto Zone. That will get it going.
Fridge and stove. Run time can very wildly even for people who use the same appliances: Temperature you camp in (how often the fridge needs to run), how often and how long you cook, etc.
Great job! I also wondered about the shower issue. Thanks for clarifying. Given your background in vet tech work, i wonder if you have considered a furry companion? Thank you for what you do.
I have Laura and I fostered/transported a dog for a rescue in California last year. But as long as I'm doing work-camping jobs that require full-time hours part of the year it doesn't seem fair to keep a pet cooped up in a rig as small as mine for that long without attention.
Great video. I was just about to mention the missing partition between the dinette and the bed. I have a 2006 model, and thinking of removing the partition. Awesome tour! Thanks for sharing! I am ordering mine tomorrow!
Love the casitas,, lovely set up
Thanks for the detailed tour!
Thanks for the tour of your Casita. We bought a used 2002 Casita Spirit Deluxe 4 months ago. We are having so much fun!
Found you on Bobs channel
You mentioned you bought yours used can I ask you how much you paid for it? The modifications are amazing and well thought out. Very thorough. Looking forward to watching your other videos.
Very nice
Great video! Helped me, even if it came out 3 years ago
Thanks for the tour. Sorry if I missed it but where do you get electricity when you're boondocking? do you have solar? Thanks.
Use the jacks you will be so happy , there is a very big difference it takes a minute to set up it will feel like you're at home :)

Great tour! I'm currently doing research on the Casita and love seeing Cas in action.
Great tour. Thanks. Newer Casias come with ready to use solar panel hookup.
Becky, thanks for this thorough tour of your Casita. Haven't seen these before but it looks like a good option for boondocking.
Great tour and Casita,i got myself a Coachmen freelander 19foot class C,never been happier
Sorry for comment I thought it was newer
Not bad at all for its ag3

I'm surprised how much storage you have! Now I know what a friend of mine had to go through to check her batteries.
Yeah, reaching the battery in a Casita is a pain! And yes, these little guys have a surprising amount of storage.
Thanks so much! Good info, so much to learn! Trying to decide whether I want a tiny house, skoolie or RV....

Good job Becky, enjoyed the tour. I admire your ability to live in a casita. I have a 20 ft. TT (19ft. Living space) and it seems small.
Cheryl
Glad you liked this Cheryl. Yep, 17' has worked quite well for me.
Thanks for the tour, Becky. Casita’s are a terrific travel trailer & you have done a great job at organizing yours. Have safe travels!

Awesome set up! We’re full time too. Any concerns with pulling a single axle? That’s the age old question: full time with double or single axle?
In the six years I full-timed in the Casita, I never had any issue with it being single axle. :)
Thanks for the tour!
You're welcome!
Yes! Apparently not the last owners, but the owner before them did that. Much more compact than the stock vent.

Love this Casita model. These are the best little campers out there!
OMG I love your home !!
Has anyone separated the bed area with some type of removable curtain assembly?
Probably? I suggest visiting one of the Casita Travel Trailer forum communities or Facebook groups, you'll find all sorts of info about modifications.
Thanks for the info I've heard you talk about boondocking what are you meaning

Home improvement stores have spray paint for plastics, maybe you would want to tape off your bathroom and sink fixtures and spray the sink.

Alas, the microwave is still kicking and I won't look into a replacement while it's still in working condition.
Hey that is a good thing. People are too quick to throw perfectly working things away.
@@PidasianHippie If it isn't broke, don't fix it....

she's got a very old model - they've changed a lot in addition to her mods
Great tour. Thanks for sharing. 😎
Nice tour!
Wait - what did you do with the range hood!?
A previous owner took out the factory one and made their own, lower-profile one I really like it. :)
Very interesting!!! Thanks for the tour! The sound was a little challenging in parts, you may want to consider a lavalier in future videos!!
Lauri
Thx for the tour. What paperwork do you have to keep with you to secure the jobs that you do?
Not really anything for the work-camping jobs, my resume etc. is all electronic and stored on my computer. The paperwork I keep in that box is stuff for the IRS, maintenance records on my rig, insurance paperwork, etc.
Thx Becky. I was thinking in terms of social security card, I9 docs, diplomas, etc.

Gorgeous :)
Is this a 16'?
17'.
Do you have a printer?
Printer? As in for printing things from a computer? Nope. On the rare occasion I need one I go to an office store.
Really neat :)
I hope this is not too personal, however, if you don't use the shower: 10:36, how do you stay clean on the road? Thanks for another great vid:)
I shower at other places: campgrounds, parks, truck stops... even some laundromats have showers. Between showers I sponge bathe.
I'll have to admit that I've always used the bathing issue as an excuse for not hitting the road... thanks for ruining that for me:) haha
Thank I get much longer propane run time. I am just using 2 burners. Are you running a water heater or some other propane device? =Cosmo
Fridge and stove. Run time can very wildly even for people who use the same appliances: Temperature you camp in (how often the fridge needs to run), how often and how long you cook, etc.

Great tour but looks bad for a few years old
