  • December 21, 2005 - The "Big Wednesday" swell of 2005 wasn't the biggest or best day ever, yet it was special because it was 4 days before Christmas, which meant most of the student population in the area had gone home for the holidays, and many locals who might otherwise be on the road were now home. Those locals included Tom Curren, Chris Brown, Bobby Martinez, Dane Reynolds, Tarik Khashoggi, Josh Bradbury, Lauran Yater, Adam Lambert, Chris Keet, Aaron Ernst, Kilian Garland and many others. It was a special time in Santa Barbara surf history, a second "Halcyon Days", and this day in surfing is one of the most memorable chapters from The Sandspit Files.
