The way that Brian has grown as a Christian is a testimony to God's power in his life in itself. The calm repose with which he speaks, speaks of a man who is GREATLY in touch with, and being guided by the Holy Spirit.

Head is my favorite. I love all the guys in Korn but head has always been so humble it seems. His voice is so calming. He is such a rad guy and I always love to see how he is doing. It bummed me out when he left, but after watching like the 12th one of these interviews he has done the past 5 years I am so glad he did. I know I will never meet him, but if I did I would give him a hug.

16 When the teachers of the law who were Pharisees saw him eating with the sinners and tax collectors, they asked his disciples: “Why does he eat with tax collectors and sinners?” 17 On hearing this, Jesus said to them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. Korn was a massive inspiration to me growing up. I was really into Marylin Manson in high school. A class mate brought their self title album and Life is Peachy to school for me to take home. Instantly fell in love with them. Then he introduced me to Tool. The mid to late 90's really had something special.
Now it's just one band trying to sound like another band. Don't get me wrong. There are some very talented musicians out there. But no one is trying to do anything different anymore. It's all shredding and sweeping and/or djent and it's all just starting to sound the same.
It's why I can't listen to bands like Metallica, Megadeth or Pantera anymore. Zakk Wylde for example, again don't get me wrong. The man is a phenomenal all around musician. When I listened to his bands Black Label and Pride and Glory, he plays the majority of his solos so fast they all just sound the same.
It's why when I was learning guitar I gave up on learning those types of play styles. Even when I was just doing exercises I could hear the same old same old guitar solos played by every big metal band out there. It was boring.
I was in a band in my early 20's. This was around the time where drop C open note break downs were becoming a thing. They did it in every single song. The only reason I stuck around was because my writing was valued and used. But then the classic guitar styles (sweep picking, shredding, tapping and legato) were starting to make a come back. So that's what was next for them.
That was it for me. I hated chasing trends just to fit in with a scene. It was impossible to find others who shared a similar vision. It was always trend chasing or clinging on to a passed trend. I'm not saying that my writing was super unique or anything. I just never go into writing something with sounding like another band nor writing something because it's what everyone is into at that time in mind.
So now I'm just a bedroom musician. Look it at it now, I don't think I'd want it any other way. Didn't mean for this to turn into an epic. But there it is.

He went back to Korn - spreading anger, rage, and horror. What do you make of that?
      THE CREEPY SIDE OF KORN
Inspired by his brief career as a coroner and an eerily-accurate psychic reading, Korn's Jonathan Davis reveals the band's deep, dark secrets.
      By Jaan Uhelszki
ATN: What about the logo for Korn, it looks like the cover of a Stephen King book. How did it come about?
Jonathan: With the backwards R, I did it in about two seconds, the whole gross story about our name had a very kid vibe about it (Korn got it's name from an urban myth that was made the rounds in Bakersfield's underage set. It had something to do with a homosexual encounter that went awry when one of the participants came down with a virulent case of diarrhea, during the act of passion. What transpired was the "catcher" was left with a mouthful of, how-you-say, feces, and one shining, pristine kernel of corn glistening on his tongue). The whole basis for that album was growing up and being a kid, so I took a big black crayon and did that in two seconds left-handed, when they told us that they needed a logo.

      The Upper Room
Hey there, I’m not sure whether I fully understood your comment, but after a couple of Head interviews in a row with probably hundreds of religious replies to them you’re the first one I really just ‘had’ to answer.
To me personally religion has no specific meaning either than that I’ve had a catholic upgrowing until I convinced my parents I simply couldn’t follow them in their beliefs.
It was at this time between my 12th and 14th that I also discovered KoRn and I’ve followed them between 1995 and 2003 or so.
Since this band has been so important in this period to me, I tried to follow them as much as I could in the past 15 years.
So the ‘Head thing’ was something that triggered my interest during those years and this is actually the first time I stopped blaming Head for ‘escaping into Christianity’ (or insert any religion).
I’m not religious because I choose to live without,
But I’m definitely no atheist as well...I’m not against religions and have no problem living aside people of any beliefs because they should also be able to choose themselves.
I think religion is beautiful, useful to many and undeniably important to provide followers a direction, a life guide, a purpose for and perhaps most important...hope that all has a reason.
I’ve studied history, and since then truly believe that religion still is one of the most important aspects of life (to many). And however all the pros and cons seem to favor the benefit for billions...it also caused countless deaths and endless suffering.
I hope we as humanity can find a way to (respectfully) update some of the problematic imperfections that remained over the past millennia (guess in any of the big religions), so everyone is able to profess their beliefs freely, without oppression or judgement, and without ancient rules in scriptures forcing anyone to subdue or even eradicate people with other convictions or beliefs.
As for Head, I’m absolutely happy he found a way to rescue himself. It doesn’t really matter in what way he was saved, I’m just happy he made it and he’s back!
A shorted way to reply would’ve been: hey! Let’s just ignore the religious differences and recognize we both grew up with KoRn and that connects us! We both wish Head the best with his recovery...
Well, that’s just my two cents ☺️
      Salaam Aleikum!

Korn was a huge influence in my life as teenager although listening to their music as a Church going youth actually pulled me to the dark, and anger, and addiction. Then when i heard Brian came to Jesus it rocked my world view and I got born again and got free. Saw him at cornerstone, met him at a book signing, bought his Christian album, supported and praised God what him. so then when I heard he went back to Korn which played Into my childhood dark dysfunction it was very confusing. I feel like there are dozens of verses that would support the idea of coming out from among them, that light has no fellowship with darkness. David said God put a new song in his mouth. But Brian's approach seems to be the approach many in liberal camp take, its all justified because of love, and anyone that questions it is just religious. I honestly struggle with it just because Brian's story so much intersects with mine. But thank God Jesus is still be embraced. Trying not to judge you Brian, just really doesn't make sense to me brother.

Read Brian’s book ‘eyes wide open’. He talks extensively about this in his book. He labored and prayed over the return to KoRn for about a year. It was definitely not a quick easy decision. One time, as Brian was laboring over the decision, he was at a concert and God spoke to Brian and said, “these are my people and I want them!” God is doing a new thing with Brian. He sent him to people who would never darken the door of a church. He has led a lot of metal head types to find Jesus! Gods ways do not always make sense but he knows exactly what he is doing.

Just like KISS sang "God Gave Rock 'n Roll To You"! People who want to think that Rock/Metal is evil just want to hear the evil. If people really sit down, listen to the songs, and read the lyrics you can see God speaking. I have never been a fan of Praise/Worship music, it didn't/doesn't speak to my heart. I put a Rock/Metal album on and I hear something that speaks to me or something I've been struggling with and I am lifted. I don't feel anger, spite, or anything negative towards a person or situation. I have actually prayed that if God didn't want to me listen to bands like Korn, Megadeth, Metallica, Slayer, Iron Maiden, and many other then take the need or desire out of my heart. I have listened to a band and felt in my heart that it wasn't in my heart or wasn't the message I needed to hear. I tried and tried in my teenage years to like Black Metal, but I heard God speak to my heart. After about a month, Megadeth's Youthenasia album came out and I heard "I Thought I Knew It All" and I heard God speaking in that song.

Yeah not all Metal music is bad but many bands have bad lyrics even the ones you mentioned. I listen to metal music but I limit myself. I used to be a HUGE Iron Maiden fan, I still do like Maiden but they have some songs that are NO GOOD. lord of light (Song about giving your self to the devil), Heaven can wait ( God says we need to always be ready for him, this song is against that)Hallowed be thy name (a song about doubting God before taking your last breaths)
Other bands like Korn and Slipknot have some not so good meanings too, I still listen to Korn but you have to limit yourself on the meaning.
You have to let God lead you in life, God has lead me to be aware of what I listen too and to not be of the world and to follow him.
Metal music doesnt speak to me anymore, I love the sounds still but It's worship music that brings me closer to God because its about God and worshiping him not about "is there a God'' or "is God really here" type of songs. I have passed that doubt stage and now I just live my life for Christ.

i love this so much ... no one NO ONE ever understands when i try to explain how freeing metal is .. i feel myself fly when sway to it i feel weights being lifted and hurt melting away from my soul.... in my 25 years of life no one ive spoken to has understood that... its so lonely to explain how incredibly this music touches your heart and have no one understand what your saying...

I know all you will ask before you ask it''.?......I said yes...i have but i have hard time comprehending this......it said well let me ask YOU.....do you think for a moment that YOU are seperate from what created you..?...I said well...hmmm...NO I suppose not ...... that WOULD be totally illogical...........it said....do not you think all creation IS logical..?....I said wow......hmmm YES.... it said OK.....well now stop asking for things and just focus on ...'''be perfect as your father in heaven IS perfect......and LIVE every moment KNOWING you are surrounded with the presence of ''god'' ...much love [[[[[[[[[Teesus]]]]]]]]]]]

Ko(backwards R)n is united again??? omg! this is the most greatest thing I have heard! i was a fan back in the day and went to 3 concerts and I am looking forward to listening to you all again. I will admit that music in America went on a downward spiral and I stopped listening to everything including Korn. I am pleading if you are still working together to save the metal music in America... metal is awesome in Europe right now and for the past 20 years its been. We metalheads need to represent this side of the world in music, bring it back! Demonhunter is doing great and I have enjoyed listening to them also but don't let them stand alone. Lets show the Europeans & Scandinavians we can rock with them. Wonderful interview by the way, God Bless Ko(backwards R)n!

      Korn:
"I want you crying with your dirty ass in front of me
Thumbing through the pages of my fantasies
I'm above you, smiling at you, drown, drown, drown
I wanna kill and rape you the way you raped me
      And I'll pull the trigger
      And you're down, down, down"
      THE CREEPY SIDE OF KORN

I like how he says Jesus apposes religion, because its absolutely true! Not what the churches are teaching... Obviously they are going to show the scriptures that are in support of their cause... but if you read the bible all the way through, then you know its true story... for god to fix all the crap that we have done, and return the world to its natural state (Gods kingdom vs Satan's empire) ... Not the church message which is the bible is a book of rules, a guide for how to get to heaven if you will.
