ASMR stands for Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response it is described as a pleasurable tingling sensation that can be felt most commonly in the back of the scalp and down the spine but not limited to these area's.
I try to describe ASMR experience to people using something common like visiting a hairdresser, do you find the experience of someone focusing on you, the gentle touching of your hair, the sound of the scissors moving around you relaxing?
That would be a relaxing experience, watching ASMR video is like recreating that type of experience.
I believe most people can experience ASMR, to experience ASMR you need to find you trigger, common triggers will often be related to one person focusing on you or another person and watching this person focus or give them attention will trigger it.

Almost anything can be a "trigger' for a persons ASMR everybody is different, you just have to find yours.

This is one of my favorites, been coming back to it for years :)
So I’m not particularly prone to insomnia but today it’s 5 am and I’ve slept three hours, so started to watch asmr videos and I ended up back here years after I watched this for the first time. Man, this video is so soothing. Dmitri does asmr like no one else, even after all these years.

I will occasionally dabble in ASMR pieces and I've come across various prominent ASMRtists. I have to tip my hat to the subtle, extra quality that this man comes up with. His attention to stereo, his commitment to acting/form, and his overall caricature brings me back to elementary school. This is essential to me, being someone who is very tense and damaged as a human being.
Today, I really needed this video because I inadvertently triggered one of my social phobias. I am very contrite towards authority. I am a Marine Poole who will be leaving for basic in a week, from this day. I crossed paths with an actual Marine on leave and mistakenly called him by the title "sir". That is the designation for an officer, and enlisted men hate that term because they feel as though officers don't "work for a living". It is proper to refer to a Marine by rank. D'oy!!! I'm reeling right now!!!!

I have to say, your videos help me sleep even when my medication wears off at night if stay up too late. I remember as a child getting weird sensations watching Bob Ross at my grandmother's house and until a year I had no idea there was a name for that sensation.

jeeziss Maybe, but I've always found that the richest asmr experience is had when sight is completely restricted. Since sight aids in your spatial awareness it sort of takes some of the work off of the hearing department and muddies the experience. When I close my eyes and listen to the videos it takes it to a whole 'nother level.
