His footwork wasn't about elaborate tricks or stepovers, he relied on subtle touches, changes of pace, and well-timed turns to manipulate the ball and defenders, seemingly having eyes on the back. What a master, a true master of the 90's.

Like he played on a playground he seemed effortless and he did it against the best. In 1991 Savicevic was the best footballer in Europe, he should have won the Ballon d'Or. I still remember his one man show against Man United in the European Super Cup final. He made the manchunians look ridiculous. But he missed all of his chances. He was more of an artist than a sportsman.

Been watching a lot of italian soccer from the 90s, Savicevic was a fantastic player. His skill level was truly awesome, possibly milan's best player in the mid 90s.
Even if he didn't play his best seasons in Italy (but it was Capello's fault) I rank Savicevic top 5 in AC Milan's history, along with Nordahl, Schiaffino, Rivera and Baresi. I don't consider Meazza and R9, as they played there at the end of their career for a little time.
He was a wonderful, incredible dribbling player who solved matches by himself. He was often injured, but when he was fit, he was always the magic point of the team that would decide the match.

Even while he played in Red Star it was known, this dude doesn't show up most of the time and you have a player less on the field because he was not interested in working when not having the ball. But...when he does show up, he could decide the game with couple of moves and was looking like the best player on the planet no matter who was against him. Charlene Gatt non era riferito al milan ..... comunque le squadre di allora erano forti ma sacchi e successivamente capello seppero improntare un gioco piu' diabolico ( sacchi ) e piu concreto capello.....certo!! Il real attuale non era come quello dell 1988 che era ugualmente competitivo ma non come oggi, stessa cosa per barcellona e bayern non c' erano le inglesi pero' c' erano squadre diffiicili come steaua, stella rossa, benfica, malines, psv eindhoven, werder brema, marsiglia, paris saint germain..... comunque il mio commento era per la nazionale dell' ex yougoslavia che sfornava tanti giocatori tecnici e con talento due su tutti stoyckovic e savicevic

Even while he played in Red Star it was known, this dude doesn't show up most of the time and you have a player less on the field because he was not interested in working when not having the ball. But...when he does show up, he could decide the game with couple of moves and was looking like the best player on the planet no matter who was against him. Always inspired when playing against Brazilians or English teams because he admired them.
