Great video… I purchased this and was wondering after 4hrs if I could move the product into the trunk and leave there for another 4hrs since the truck also smells of smoke? Will it still work or would I need a second treatment?
Just came across your channel! I am looking to buy a vehicle but it has a strong smoke smell… did this completely get rid of the smell? I guess I’m asking if I bought the car is it possible to completely get rid of the smell so myself and others would never know someone smoke in it?
Hi! Great video! I would love to get some advice if you have the time. I just recently picked up a used 12 Ford Superduty. It was heavily smoked in from day one. The interior is in amazing shape, however, it’s a lariat trim that include perforated leather seats all around. I spent the money and had a professional interior detail done at the cost of about $400. He said he used a chlorine treatment and ozone treatment along with the thorough interior cleaning…but, The smoking odor seems to be stuck in the seats. My question is what do you do when you come across a leather interior vehicle with heavy smoke odor. Thanks!!
That's a hard situation because you can't necessarily get a cleaner deep down into the perforated leather seats. You may need to do additional chlorine treatments or ozone treatments or longer treatments it always based on how long his treatment was but you can leave the chlorine dioxide in for up to 24 hours so even if you purchased one and left it in overnight and then aired it out that may help but multiple treatments may be required for heavy smoke odor. I've had a couple Vehicles where I've had to do multiple treatments before I was able to remove the smell. Did he use an enzyme carpet shampoo? And did you change the cabin filter?
@@attention2detailswchelsea Thanks for the reply! Believe it or not the headliner and carpets smell brand new! Not sure if it was an enzyme shampoo. Also, unfortunately, this model year of Superduty didn’t have cabin air filters 👎. I’ve ordered the auto shocker and will give that a try. I’m hoping over some time the odour will dissipate.
ah, came here as a DIYer and really wanted to buy the Bonnet Pro Omegazyme after watching this video. However, their price almost made me decide to send my car to pro auto detailing shops. Don't know how effective they can remove the cigarette smell in the used Prius I just bought though...but...price is a major matter for decision making for typical consumers...
@@attention2detailswchelsea Chelsea thank you. So spray the enzyme cleaner on the headliner and use waxer/polisher to go through all headliner area? Smell is my car's main issue. Its interior is relatively spotless.
I'm so glad I found your channel.. I unfortunately forgot a bag of house garbage in the trunk of my Hyundai Santa fe for like 3 weeks.. I'm so mad at myself. The truck is not currently being used in case u were wondering why it took me so long to realize this.. But anyway, my only question.. Will this chemical affect the material on the seats?? Will it cause discoloration of anything in the car???
I use steam to blow them out as best as I can but realistically the chlorine dioxide will circulate through them when you put the ac in recirculate mode to kill odor in them
H Chelsea, I realize you specialize in autos, but wonder if you have used this in rooms? I'm wondering if we are going to need to remove anything, especially computer equipment. Bought a house where the seller used a lot of air fresheners. Now that the smells from those have weakened a good bit, we understand why he used them Ugh! Need to get rid of the bad odors and the air freshener odors. Haven't found anything that would explain the odors so hoping this product will help out. Great video, by the way. Again, any idea if anything needs to be removed? Thanks!
Excellent video/info! Question- do these methods REMOVE the smoke or only COVER the smell of smoke? How does cleaner smell? My Daughter's used car still smells smoky after 4 years... am worried if it smells smoky (or chemically) it's got to be unhealthy for my Granddaughter? I am also about to buy a used car & very sensitive to nicotine/chemicals myself. Am worried about long lasting chemical smell - followed by stale smoke being apparent- weeks or months later? Any insights helpful. Thanks!
The carpet cleaner is a safe hydrogen peroxide citrus based chemical that has a mild citrus smell. The chlorine dioxide is strong initially and smells like chlorine but dissipates over a few days. Thats why its recommended to air it out for at least a few hours before driving.
Chelsea, I have watched a few of your videos now and continuing to watch more, I am a fellow detailer o have been in business for a year now and I’m always learning anyway ive heard you talk about surround a couple times I had yet until now looked into their products, holy crap they seem awesome I just went through there site super affordable too I’m pumped to buy their stuff and try it out, any tips on which products to buy for detailing obviously surround enzymatic whatever it’s name is I’m deff getting that but is there a specific system you use with these products for deep cleanings on carpets and upholstery, like say a pre spray then the surround enzyme and maybe a rinse after that or do you just use a pre spray as the enzyme cleaner then put a rinse in the extractor? Anyway any tips welcomed! Much love! Thanks Alex Love’s Auto Care Mobile Detailing
Check out Rocket Revive it, Surround Omegazyme and their oxy spotter is great too for really bad stains. Their urine and red dye products work well too. Their business sample kit lets you try several products out. Oh and the radical rinse is great too
The chlorine gas will oxidate and destroy any organic compounds (containing carbon atoms). This is the same gas used during the WWI only at a higher concentration. ;) Exposure to the sun light will break down the chlorine gas so drive the car with your goggles on and windows down when you’re done removing the odor.
Hi there, so I used an Ozone Generator in my car and I had the circulating air running and now my car just smells like burnt wire, a smell that the generator left. I've had the car interior detailed and extracted twice. How can I get the smell out of the vents, too? Can this product get rid of that smell as well? If not, what could I do to get rid of that smell?
It shouldn’t smell like burnt wire it should smell strongly of ozone which has its own distinct odor. It’s possible the generator isn’t working properly and may have an electrical issue. This should help remove that smell but you may need to leave it overnight but I’d recommend replacing your cabin filter first and also letting the vehicle air out a few days before doing this.
@attention2detailswchelsea Thank you so much for replying back. I've replaced my filter twice and the smell is still there but I will give this a try. When can I turn on my a/c to let it go through the vents because that's where the smell is coming from. Can I do the heater or does it have to be the a/c?
You could always throw a battery charger on the car and have the AC going key on, engine off. That way you aren't using the customer's fuel for a few hours of idling.
Wow, I noticed that you seem to have like a burn on your right hand at the bottom of your thumb. Hope it wasn't something serious and you are using some antibiotic cream on it. Hope you do well.
I accidentally added too much water since I was too excited to get rid of the rotting meat smell. I guess it won't be effective anymore?? 😢 Someone tell me that it will still work.. fingers crossed otherwise will have to buy another.. 😂
How's this work for dead animal smell? We found a mouse nest full of dead mice in the air duct and the car smells like someone died. 😁 Seriously though. It smells really bad.
I had mice in my car at one point and started getting skin irritation to the point that my skin was burning. I stripped the car interior and found they had been up in the headliner as well.
Thanks for posting this!
As someone with allergies, this is incredibly useful for me.
Madame Chelsea is always great!
Hi Madame Amber too!
Very important with smoking vehicles is changing the cabin filter.
Yes! Customer did do that as well before bringing the car to me.
As always, excellent video mom. I love how you are always researching products and practices

Hello, do you have any recommendations for removing moldy smell from car.
We used 25 grams on a vehicle with extreme mold and let it set 30 - 45 minutes and it COMPLETELY removed all odors.
25 grams of what??

You could try a enzyme cleaner like this, extract, let dry and then use the biocide cloring dioxide treatment after.

As in your Ozone Generator video, does this product permanently extract the odor, or is it a temporary treatment?
Depends on severity and how will you clean and prep but its intent is to permanently remove odor
Where are you located? I’m looking for someone to clean the interior in my Focus

Another great vid. After using the Biocide product, did you observe any residue on the interior glass? 🙏

Cabin filter is helpful..change every 3 months
so do you need ac on? or after treatment?
Put ac on max ac with recirculate on.
