VLOG 31 - Complete tour of Dubare Elephant Camp

If the documentary The Elephant Whisperers has inspired you to befriend an elephant, then we’ve got just the thing for you to make your dream come true! Make your way over to Dubare Elephant Camp near Coorg in Karnataka, where you can spend a day with these gentle giants in their natural habitat, getting to know more about them and how they live.
Started by Karnataka State Forest Department in collaboration with Jungle Lodges and Resort, Dubare Elephant Camp promises visitors the chance to get up close to elephants in a natural setting. This camp is not just about spotting the elephants, but also about appreciating the bountiful nature that surrounds it. In fact, the camp even has a trained naturalist who will explain to you everything that you need to know about the history of the region, the nature of the elephants, and how they live.
The campsite is home to over 150 elephants and the visitors are taken on a jeep safari to explore the lush green jungle. You can constantly hear the sound of the Cauvery River flowing in the background, and you can even spot some elephants goofing around and bathing in the cold water. Be prepared to be sprayed with a trunk full of water while you are there!
Guests also have the option of sneaking a peek at the food preparation for the elephants and learning how to feed them too. The mahout will also take you on an elephant ride on special request, which is an experience not to be missed. The perfect day will culminate with a peaceful campfire in the jungle. The campsite has six cottages in total and also offers camping facilities in the wild. The rooms are extremely comfy and cosy with a simple interior that is soothing to the eyes. As far as food is concerned, they offer both vegetarian and non-vegetarian home-cooked meals and even though the variety is limited, the food is scrumptious, to say the least.
