wow, roots back to Everquest! I started EQ in the second expansion, I think it was Ruins of Kunark or something...it was a lot of fun, but then everything fell apart when WOW came on the scene and I jumped to WOW for umpteen years the day it launched. One of the challenges of Everquest was CORPSE retrieval and I LOST my first Barbarian in the snow somewhere never to be seen again, so I couldn't find a body and I made a NEW Barbarian, can't remember class, but just started typing until i hit the character limit goodenfeeterano or something like that. The name ended up being TWO purposed. I still love this name and, yes, respond to it like it was mine. I got asked SO MANY times if I played Dragon Age. I actually did end up playing Inquisition when it came out a few years later and loved it. BUT the name is AINEDRASTE. Not no Andraste. Give me all my syllables

Mukluks are traditional Native American footwear (boots), here the good ones are typically made with moose leather and are lined with beaver, muskrat, or bear fur.
I had a character *Wolf_of_Endor* on earlier BBS systems and several of the MUCKs, which was a riff on the *Witch of Endor* in the *First Book of Samuel*, chapter 28, in the Hebrew bible-but most everyone thought the name came from the forest moon Endor in *Return of the Jedi*. (A few more-literary souls identified it with the southern realm in Tolkien's *Middle Earth*.)
This was hilarious. I remember the pain that was everquest. a better question: How did that become Mukluk Douglas Bartholomew Reginald Esquire (the 4th)?
well its one thing when you have people "borrowing" your name , but when a gaming studio like Anet does the same its kinda like .....Get your own name ideas :) . When i started playing Guildwars 1 on may 13th 2005. I created a character named Ray Stonecrusher , then when factions came there were the Stonecrushers in Echovald . Ok typical but not that odd at the time. Then i also made a character ( a monk ) named Ray of Lightbringer during Factions, Yep when Nightfall was released there was the Lightbringer Title . Ok that puts the counter on 2 ..hmmm. There was also a price winning competition wher you could sent in a name and what kind of green items they would drop if you slayed the boss. So i came up with Morlog Skullseeker , a necro type boss and the 2 weapons would be morlog's wand ( main hand ) and the skullseeker ( offhand ) , never heard anything from the results of the competition , well can happen , no worries there .... Until i went into Guildwars 2 and particularly the area on the left of Sorrows Embrace , The place where you can kill The Dredge Comissar. I was waiting there with alot of other people to kill the boss and what did i see ? There is a tomb or Entrance ( its actually a point of interest on the Dredgehaunt cliffs map ) called Tomb of Morlog !!! I mean come on what are the odds now here ....... keep up your good work and be carefull with your names , before you know it Anet might steal mukluk as well as an NPC :)
This is just the kind of thing that happens when you gather enough nerds into one place. The last time I was trying to name a new character in GW2 I started out normally enough, but the names were already in use. So I started digging into memories of old novels and tried _Grag_ and _Otho_ (characters from the old _Captain Future_ pulp novels) Both were already in use. Thought I'd go for semi-humorous and started in with names like "Chris Anthemum" - All already taken. Finally just wrote in "Aarrgh", but that too, was already in use....
My warlock in WoW was named Gazap, as in the sound. Or at least so I though, until people started greeting me in a different language. Turns out Gazap means wrath in Turkish! I was not unhappy with that.
I have a ton of trouble coming up with names. My primary username was something I stole from a friend in 4th grade. And naming characters I tend to either use name generators and add stuff to it or name them after stuff.
Okay, that covers the "Mukluk" part. Where do your other 7 names come from? Honestly your extra names make you sound like Daenerys Targaryen during the intro lol
The same thing happened to me! I pulled the name Zuni out of thin air by moving letters around at character creation, WOW, 2005. Few years later, someone asked if I was Native American. Confused, ask why, ‘Zuni’. Had no idea.
From Everquest to RuneScape, to guildwars 1 then World of Warcraft, and back to guild wars 1 and 2…. Yeah I’ve done the same think for my main toon on games. 😂 Pretty sure the hero they mean was from ALoK.
My characters are named after my EQ toons too seems only right to continue their legacy, but even though I invented some of the names for EQ they were taken when I came to Guild Wars 2.
I also have a meaningless name I came up with myself and it's astonishing on how many platforms it's already occupied. I guess the takeaway is to never underestimate how many words already exist if you combine all existing languages.
No one ever used Halsti and i was fine for a long time, and then Halsey became famous and the "do you know its actually written Halsey" or "wow fake fan, dont even know how to write it" comments never stopped :D
I got my first name from Bakugan, at least I think, Gorem is the name of the of the monsters there a big strong wall Earth type, funnily enough the first character I named that was a Tank dwarf in Warhammer Online Ironbreaker. Ended up being one of the best tanks for my server and known to everyone on both sides, from that point its been next to impossible to get my original name on other games, always taken, I had a lot of trolls and people hate me as it was a 100% pvp based mmo hah. But I got Gorem on GW2 cause I Named it that the day gw2 came out, so suck it trolls!
The real truth is Mukluk is a brand of socks that I buy to keep my feet warm. He also buys them and wants to share the joy of their warmth and comfort lol
I had a friend that played Everquest. I have two memories. One, she accidentally hit a unicorn and literally ran across a map screaming for help as this creature tried to stab her. Two, I drowned her husband’s character when he let me try the game. He . . . was not happy.
I honestly don't understand people who come up with a name for their first ever character and then just name ALL their characters in EVERY game they play that exact same name (or variants thereof). That just seems insane to me. My first ever WoW character was a Forsaken Rogue called Mortigus. I didn't name my Orc Shaman that (or anything similar) because he was an Orc, not an Undead. Likewise my Asura Engineer isn't called Mortigus, neither is my Asura Thief and I certainly didn't name my Sith Marauder or my Imperial Agent Mortigus either. This might be a little harsh, but people really do need to grow an imagination - you can name characters different names!
I think it is less about creativity and more about immense sentimental attachment to the one name. On the flipside I get pissed when "Bob" on discord wants me to remember that hes "sally" on twitch and "sauron the malignant 69" in guild wars 2 and "xXnerfZergXx" on starcraft and... You get the idea.
@@MuklukUA-cam I dunno dude - I just can't play an Orc or an Asura called xXnerfzergazXx420. Just doesn't sound like an Orcish or Asuran name to me, so that would bug my OCD too much - it would just feel weird and icky.....I dunno.
