One of the most iconic handguns on Resident Evil and also in gaming media, the Samurai Edge is so good that not even Wesker got rid of his Samurai Edge.
its crazy how well thought out the devs made the early games. It wasn’t just guns every character, every piece of equipment it was all thought out. Like Bravo teams helicopter making that landing, Uh-1 iroquois’ are renoud for being able to take a lot and such a landing is pretty realistic for a Huey to be able to withstand. Another thing was they made sure the team members only had there sidearms to make it harder to kill the foes they were going to face. It honestly was realistic in a lot of ways. Now in re3 a single zombie takes 8 rounds of 5.56 to the head and keeps going, which honestly would of blown the zombies head clean off.
Definitely a George Soros funded bot it’s not weak by anyone who’s actually used it. This is what happens when people repeat something that isn’t true. If it’s so underpowered as everyone says why do so many militaries use it. Not to mention special operations forces around the world use 5.56 and more importantly the ar platform. Its potent, accurate and light. Either way I don’t think you want to be hit by one and find out how “underpowered” it is.
5.56 has less stopping power than something like 7.62, but that was the whole point of the design. A thinner bullet going faster will penetrate much better, which became important as body armor was evolving. Not to mention, you can carry a lot more rounds of 5.56 while weighing less overall. 5.56 also flies straighter than 7.62, for all the same reasons listed above, and has less recoil. 5.56 is not a "weak" round at all, but it actually makes some sense that it wouldn't be great at killing zombies. If you penetrate cleanly through the head of a zombie, you're not really destroying the brain that much. You want it to splatter and/or knock them down, not punch a clean hole. In a zombie apocalypse, I would actually prefer the superior stopping power of a 7.62. Funny enough, there's actually a real-life equivalent to this. I forget what state it was, but decades ago, some police in the US complained that their standard-issue handguns lacked the stopping power to actually put down drugged-out lunatics during a spike in drug activity; they would just keep charging after being shot, like it hadn't even phased them. Same logic applies to zombies.
@@mr.kittysavestheworld695 But did they receive 7 rounds to the skull and still keep squrming about tho? I get your point but they take so many rounds to take down. Even then they're not dead, the lunge and bite you when U walk by
@@Collateral0 both Marines and Army Rangers used to complain about how 5.56mm failed in taking down insurgents in Afghanistan and Iraq because their skinny body type lacks the necessary amount of tissue to cause fragmentation. Thus the M856 cartridges were developed. Even so the JSOC has been testing a .338 Norma Magnum (8.6x63mm) general purpose machine gun and 6.5mm Creedmoor has been seen as the cartridge with the best overall performance for conventional infantry, combining the reduced weight and recoil management of the 5.56mm and the power and range of the 7.62x51mm.

Welcome back kendo, missed your videos and have been dieing to see the next one XD, after watching your vids I got rather curious if they had airsoft versions, and I managed to find the Barry Burton samurai edge and am now a proud owner of resident evil memorabilia 😎 you rock kendo!!! 🤟🤟🤟
That I will Mr.kendo, it is in good hands and will be used as any s.t.a.r.s. member should I've been a dedicated fan of the games and movies since I was a kid and I consider it a tribute to a game I've loved since then, now to get the Wesker modle from resident evil 7 lmfao 🤣😂
I'm eager for the follow-up to this video, as well as you guys eventually covering Leon's Silver Ghost. If I'm not mistaken, the Silver Ghost is a heavily modified Smith & Wesson Sigma created by Joseph Kendo at Leon's request. As to how Chris could be explained having an even further modified Silver Ghost during the early trailers for Resident Evil: 5, or Wesker during the Nintendo Wii on-rails shooters, is beyond me.
guys, it's Resident Evil. They just released RE3 with .44AE Lightning Hawk. Their guns aren't always a real thing. Sum are altered to avoid paying royalties and sum are flat out works of fiction. But I don't see Chris using Leon's custom handgun.
Damn. Your style of videos seem like the perfect marriage of Ahoy's Iconic Arms and Shoddycast's The Storyteller series. Really glad I found this channel and looking foward to more. The Resident Evil series alone has more than enough firearms for years of content to offer, after all.
I just stumbled across this channel by chance and have already watched all of your vids! The amount of effort put in, from the custom renders, to the editing and the almost machinima-esque scenes is a genuine cut above. I look forward to the second part and whatever comes after.
Just discovered this channel and as a gun nut I absolutely love it. Long term goal is to put together the parts for a Wesker Model Samurai Edge M9 build. Keep up the awesome content!!
I just discovered this channel recently, and what can i say, i love the content. One of the reasons i love the resident evil games is how important are the weapons, and finding a channel that covers the lore of the weapons used is awesome.
I have just found this channel,I have been a fan of RE games since the first I brought on ps1, super original very well done and I learned so much, the one on the Matilda pistol was so interesting, great job ,
Lightning hawk or sti eagle next. Both are very interesting because well a wood griped desert eagle is cool plus the red dot and extended barrel makes it special. The sti eagle is a 40 s&w 1911 with a speed gun set up and well since the re3 remake is around the corner it would fit
Pretty sure the Eagle from RE3 is supposed to be a long slide 9mm, *NON +P RATED*, 1911. This would make sense why it does extra damage with regular pistol ammo but can't use the enhanced ammo.
This is really cool. One thing I miss about the old RE games (1 through Code Veronica) was that they would tell you explicitly what the firearm was that you had, make and model, and they were all found in REAL life.
@@kevinedward6132 must've payed a pretty penny in RE5 I think the Lightning Hawk is like the one firearm that isn't using the official name and manufacturer
I'm kind of overwhelmed with kind words to say, but I just discovered your channel. Easy, informative listening that scratches gun buff and Resi fan itches. Curious if you'll touch on the common "w-870" shotgun model featured throughout the series? Personal favorite of mine. Keep up the good work man!
Wow this channel is pure gold!!! There's so much to cover regarding Resident Evil's lore, characters, monsters, and weapons. How did I never find this before? Nice content dude ❤
"To be continue" Come on man, don't tease us like that. That was a really good video, hope you keep it up. Also, hope you give a proper focuse on the best Samurai Edge of them all, Albert's.
Recently found this channel an hour ago and subcribed 15 minutes ago in the hopes to motivate the creator to release more videos. Resident Evil is one of my favorite game series and one of my favorite aspects in an RE game are the firearms because in a BOW infested location firearms are your best friends. Just make sure you got enough ammo and pick your targets wisely. Ammo in RE can sometimes be a real bitch due to scarcity and quick depletion as enemies can be bullet spongy at certain times.
I loved the gun clacking noises, in the intro of the video. The blue pistol barreled, looks interesting to me. A Resident Evil based airsoft handgun, that sounds like something that my oldest brother would like.
That means a lot coming from you! We try our best to make the videos as interesting and informative to watch as we possibly can and hopefully enlighten more people with how much effort is taken to make the weapons in our favorite series stand out. The weapons in RE are just as much main characters as Chris and Leon.
Gotta say, I love what you did with the animations and environments from the RE2 Remake; the "No Time to Mourn" theme in the background was a very nice touch.
It is great to have you back kendogunshop finally a quality gun showcase about resident evils weapons Also could you do the silver ghost or Leon's custom .50cal desert eagle
Amazing videos, I'd love to see the Derringer from RE Remake be featured somewhere down the line, a lot of people forgot about that gun since it only has one round that can be fired and that's it.
Still love this channel so much! rewatch most all the vids. And I am glad that theres finally a 4th video for the iconic "samurai Edge" gun finally. Looking forward to it. SHOCKTOBER IS ALMOST HERE! lol BE well ^
First time coming across this channel, love the content and how it scratches and itch I've had for Resident Evil for so long. I hope one of the videos addresses the different types of Samurai Edge used by the members of stars. I faintly recall that even brad vickers had his own custom model, although it's canon status is debatable, I'd like to think it was a STARS variation of the 93R
So far the only three customized Samurai Edges we know of that are in the canon are Chris's Samurai Edge the King Eagle which had a laser scope attachment in order to increase it's firing range in order to compliment Chris's seemingly superhuman marksmanship mastery/accuracy, Jill's Samurai Edge which was called the Silver Wolf and Jill had it customized so it can have a Rapid Fire function, and a much larger ammo capacity, and Albert's Samurai Edge was appropriately named the Black Demon and the customization Albert had done on it was to increase it's attack damage/stopping power.
Would love some more content from this channel. I've reccomended it to some friends and see so much potential. Even if you eventually ran out of RE guns I'm sure Kendo would have knowledge of guns from other worlds ;)
My best guess at Umbrella's submitted version of the S.T.A.R.S custom handgun is that it might had a black polymer frame with a blackened barrel with an ebony wood handle with the Umbrella logo on the frame. Edit: i now believe that Umbrella's version of the samurai edge's barrel might have a bluish black coloring while the slider might have an almost dark silver coloring, as for the test, i believe it passed the accuracy & endurance tests, slightly passes the fall damage test but failed at the corrosion resistance test. 2nd edit: If Umbrella's custom handgun had a name, i believe it would be Shinobi Talon, the opposite of Samurai Edge.
"The trigger had to be double action" is an interesting point considering the Beretta 92 is a hybrid double action/single action gun. For those unaware of guns, the first shot of a Samurai Edge/Beretta 92 is double action and the act of the barrel sliding backwards makes all subsequent shots *single action.*
@@darbodrake89 it is an additional safety mechanism though which I think law enforcement benefit from, the follow up shots however are way quicker and with 15 rounds would be more than enough. So realistically the gun was perfect for an era where polymer pistols were still new (glock 22 came out in 1990).
@@alfredbanuelos7312 one could say the DA first pull is more of a liability than a safety measure. I've seen lots pull shots way off with that first pull, and who knows where that shot would go if that's the case in a defensive shooting. If someone needs a heavy DA first pull as a safety measure, they need to be re-trained and not have their finger on the trigger when it shouldn't be.
@@pant3ra647 if you dont know how to shoot DA as law enforcement you need to find a new job. Training can be applied to both so you can't say lack of training is the main issue with DA.
Most service pistols of the time were da/sa, and the relatively heavy trigger pull is common on many defensive/duty weapons. If you knew how common friendly fire has proven to be in combat scenarios you would understand why a light trigger pull has been considered more of a liability. A lot of LA county sheriffs deputies still carry beretta 92s.

New to the channel, but you've got a new subscriber. I'm an avid collector of Resident Evil guns IRL. I currently have Chris's Samurai Edge, Leon's HKVP70, the two tone Desert Eagle, the Remington 870 and Remington 1100, an HK G36 clone (from the dumb movies), an Umbrella Corps AR, Claire's Browning High Power, Jill's PX4 from RE5, Billy's two tone 1911 from RE0 (sans finger grips), and my buddy has Wesker's two tone Samurai Edge. I'm so happy to see fellow enthusiasts of the games and guns. Keep up the great work!
As an RE fan and a ballistic enthusiast, I love your content! Knowing that some gunsmiths have recreated the Samurai Edge, have you thought of showcasing live-firing recreations of RE guns in addition to airsoft recreations (if applicable)?
Thanks for the kind words! And to answer your question, If applicable yes. We've stated in the outros of some other videos that we are open to showcasing all guns, real steel, airsoft, replicas, props etc. But there is still a quality/accuracy standpoint that is the deciding factor on if we showcase them or not.
THANK YOU, someone finally did a Samurai Edge lore video, lol. I have a 92 Brigadier I'd like to turn into a Samurai Edge one day. There's a small prop making company that replicates everything about the gun, stuff that didn't exist IRL until... well, they machined 'em out. Unique rear sight and extended slide stop. I forget the name, but if anyone wants to know I can look it up. I know Customized Creationz is the go-to for engraving the serrations and rollmarks. Anyway, I didn't know the lore was this deep. Umbrella competed in the STARS gun trials, wtf? And the Samurai Edge prototype only did 3.25 at 25 yards, interesting. Where did you find all of this this out? The long non-translated Tokyo Marui manuals? Just curious. Keep up the good work.
You'd be correct. The lore is sourced from the Marui Airsoft manuals. I believe the custom prop company you are referring to is Collector Design Werks. He does incredible work and we can't wait to see the future for his line of Resident Evil custom parts. Thank You for the kind words!
Alright I just found this channel and I subscribed. Hope you didn't abandon it, because this place could become what the channel AHOY does but for resident Evil weapons and lore. Also you sound like Paul Mercier, dunno if that's your regular voice or you do the voice for show but hey it works.
I’m not much of an handgun guy but the samurai edge is my personal favorite next to Barry’s second version of the silver serpent seen in re5 mercenaries mode. I also would have the hydra shotgun in my inventory as well because of it’s devastatingly awesome firepower.
Robert's prototype for the trials was the Lightening Hawk seen in RE2/RE2 (Remake). We can see it engraved on the extended barrel modification of the weapon in RE2 Remake: "Prototype Model Phase 1". Relatedly, you can find its original carrying case (with a red dot sight for it) in Wesker's STARS office, where "Lightening Hawk", "Kendo Custom Shop", "Prototype Model Phase 1" are imprinted on the box. Given its silver frame w/ black slide. It makes it look very similar to Wesker's variant of the Samurai Edge. You find another one in RE3 remake, apparently issued to the U.S.S. and possibly the U.B.C.S., as you find a dead USS soldier next to a box containing a lightning hawk, and then later find a "PROTOTYPE MODEL PHASE 1" barrel just before you enter NEST 2, possibly having been left behind by Nikoli (maybe to gather data on its effectiveness by getting Jill to use it?). Im not sure if this will be seen, or if anyone else has already pointed this out, but I thought I would mention it.
You guys seriously have to post more, I've been watching the same uploads for the past week and a half. It's all seriously great content, please keep it up! ❤👌

The perfect example of a good UA-cam channel. Stuff like this should be at the top of trending instead of the flavor of the month junk that's there instead.

The Kendo Custom Phase 2 is truly a amazingly well made gun, worthy of S.T.A.R.S. for sure! I would love one of those!
It may have been difficult to recruit elite officers for the formation of STARS Team, but what often goes untold is the story behind their custom handgun, the Samurai Edge. A weapon which would be conceived after several prototypes and extensive field tests, known as the STARS Handgun Trials. We are here to tell the tale of it’s development, by covering the contenders and prototypes behind the final product.

As a hardcore historical firearms collector and RE fan girl, I absolutely love your channel and plan viewing every video you put out.
As a gun enthusiast myself and a resident evil fan, you gained a sub
I'm eager for the follow-up to this video, as well as you guys eventually covering Leon's Silver Ghost. If I'm not mistaken, the Silver Ghost is a heavily modified Smith & Wesson Sigma created by Joseph Kendo at Leon's request. As to how Chris could be explained having an even further modified Silver Ghost during the early trailers for Resident Evil: 5, or Wesker during the Nintendo Wii on-rails shooters, is beyond me.
The Silver Ghost is definitely on the list!
I think I heard someplace the 1st gun seen for RE5's early promotion was a Sherry custom. idk but I don't think Chris had Leon's gun.
Nah. The Silver Ghost is an amalgamation of the S&W Sigma and H&K USP9 Tactical.
It's a customized Sig p226
guys, it's Resident Evil.

Yay you’re back
Welcome back KendoGunShop we missed you! Love the video!
Your high quality videos are back
I just discovered this channel recently, and what can i say, i love the content. One of the reasons i love the resident evil games is how important are the weapons, and finding a channel that covers the lore of the weapons used is awesome.
I love how much extra y'all put into these! Thank you, I really, really do!
STI Eagle isn't in the game though. Also Jill's samurai edge has to be unlocked. Or you are stuck with a glock.
@@keatonkitsune4064 i was refuring to the classic resident evil 3 and yes i unlocked the samurai edge in the remake
@@rugeruwu1529 Oh... Well I'm still disappointed at the handgun stuff myself. I wanted the samurai edge.
I think the problem is licencing for the gun names, you use a real name and you gotta pay I guess :/
@@kevinedward6132 must've payed a pretty penny in RE5 I think the Lightning Hawk is like the one firearm that isn't using the official name and manufacturer

OH YOU ARE BACK!
A Resident Evil based airsoft handgun, that sounds like something that my oldest brother would like.
just binge watched all the video on this channel. Can’t believe this channel doesn’t have that much subscribers
My god, these videos are golden. It's a shock that this channel isn't as popular as I thought it'd be. Definitely looking forward to more!!
I never knew Robert Kendo actually made two versions of the Samurai Edge M9s. I feel like I want the prototype more than the final model
These videos dive so deep into RE lore, it's amazing. I always watch them many, many times.
That means a lot coming from you! We try our best to make the videos as interesting and informative to watch as we possibly can and hopefully enlighten more people with how much effort is taken to make the weapons in our favorite series stand out. The weapons in RE are just as much main characters as Chris and Leon.
This channel is *severely* underrated and needs the love it deserves
Gotta say, I love what you did with the animations and environments from the RE2 Remake; the "No Time to Mourn" theme in the background was a very nice touch.
The weapon inside Umbrella's case was a two tone HK USP9. It has a 16-round capacity.
It is great to have you back kendogunshop finally a quality gun showcase about resident evils weapons
Also could you do the silver ghost or Leon's custom .50cal desert eagle
HOORAY new video...still waiting on that thor's hammer video, but this one should hold me till then
Your content feels like it should be recognised by capcom as RE lore content. S+ rank.
Amazing videos, I'd love to see the Derringer from RE Remake be featured somewhere down the line, a lot of people forgot about that gun since it only has one round that can be fired and that's it.
It's definitely on the list and worth a video in and of itself. Glad there's still people that keep that little derringer in their thoughts.
Even if you eventually ran out of RE guns I'm sure Kendo would have knowledge of guns from other worlds ;)
this is great storytelling! you have done an amazing job here. keep it up!
Wait, if the narrator is Joseph Kendo, then he made the Samurai Edge, right? Does that mean we pretty much watched an ad for a gun?
Maybe that was the plan all along?
When i watch your videos i see only one thing...
A PURE AND TRUE LOVE FOR FIREARMS
Keep the good work Kendo
"The trigger had to be double action" is an interesting point considering the Beretta 92 is a hybrid double action/single action gun. For those unaware of guns, the first shot of a Samurai Edge/Beretta 92 is double action and the act of the barrel sliding backwards makes all subsequent shots *single action.*
A DA/SA trigger suffers mainly from inconsistencies in trigger pull. Having the same pull every-time is not an uncommon requirement.

Mr. Kendo, I have watched all of your lessons multiple times, but I have to say the samurai edge video is a masterpiece.
I was always a fan of the shot guns, especially the tactical ones as opposed to the hunting ones. I'd like to see more on those types of shotguns.

YES! New video!
New to the channel, but you've got a new subscriber. I'm an avid collector of Resident Evil guns IRL. There needs to be more of these videos. They are too good to only have so few.
I like the way this gun looks so much! A couple years back I had one made for myself (not air soft but a 9mm).
Perfect job, my friend. Please, give us part 2, soon.

I got one Marui Samurai Edge (15th Anniversary), he's magnificient :D
Nice real life take on RE. Subbed!!

I have a theory what the umbrella prototype could have been a Albert W. Model 01P Umbrella Corporation it exists as a Tokyo Marui Airsoft Gun

I remember seing something about the S.E. being chambered in .40 S&W in the RE1 remake years ago..
And I thought the Kendo Brothers were Ken, Rob & Joe- and it was Ken that got eaten in RE2 (original)..
The .40 S&W Samurai Edge was specifically Barry Burton's version. It was a custom modification for him and him alone.
If you re playing re3 remake, be sure to get this gun in the shop. That samurai edge is way better than the default handgun (which is only a standard RPD handgun found randomly from a dead cop )
