      Also Mikey I listen when you speak about people calling you guys rats and shit like that. I can only speak for myself being from Arthur Ave the local wiseguys taught us to never rat and have honor and when the guys who taught us that do it we feel kinda betrayed. But I learned as I got older never judge a man till you walked a mile in his shoes.

      Well said Brotha'. We have more reasons to be unified and work together than be divided and make it easier for the people in control/on top to screw with us. Because, were all off in our own corners/groups - too busy fighting amoungst ourselves and everyone on our same level to come together and realize we have more in common, and focus on and figure out the who/what/where/why/when the people(s)/group(s) working against us are.

  • @thedarknessunderneathpodca6366

    Fear, no. He wasn't a pussy. He was simply not able to come after Roy who had too many killers around him and was always on guard himself. Sammy describes Gotti as 'shook up' about the idea he might be ordered to do it. He had a much smaller and less experienced crew. It would have been a slaughter, followed by the police rounding up what was left. However, fear is irrelevant anyway. It doesn't mean weak.

    Mr. DiLeonardo did your grandfather know if Salvatore D'Aquila commanded the Palermo group from Ignatzio Lupo? Did Tom Reina have any dealings with D'Aquila after he moved to the Bronx? His dealings with Frankie Yale would be interesting as well as Manfredi Mineo. Was the Salvatore DiBella group originally a part of the Bonannos before Joe Fontana came to the US? These answers may not exist soon as our elders are fading away, that's why I ask about ancient history. Thank you for any time to spend on these questions. Great interview, all around.

    The quote was from Gene gotti on a wiretap saying "roy was surrounded by an army of killers." I don't think the gotti crew was "afraid" of Roy, just he had a lot of dangerous guys around him and that should be taken into consideration if we do go after him.

    • @yotoober1
      @yotoober1 2 роки тому +1

      Yes, I remember reading that. Sammy and his crew turned the job down because he had a whole crew of dangerous guys and they could also smell out things that make getting close to them very difficult, they weren't coming in to any sitdows figuring that out could be a hit. Like going after the President of some banana Republic vs trying to get the president of a nuclear armed country.
      Sammy eventually farmed the job out to Tommy karate, only one who could get close to him. They both were serial killers who enjoyed "chopping it up" their victims that is. Go figure?

    I donr think "AFFRAID' is the right word, he wouldnt have made it to his position had guys like Gravano and Frank Deccico seen that. I think abit more leary and weary of who Demeo was is more like it. I think had it gotten that far out of hand (it got crazy) but, had they been able to find nobdy to kill him they would have cotacted Scarpa of Casso (possibly both) to take care of business and either , Scarpa or Casso would have tortured him to set an example. FAR STRETCH i know, but i think it wouldve had to of been done to show hey this is code. I dont think John Gotti was scared i think he was more leary just like every else was had they of known of a guy who cut up hundreds of bodies "they say" and feasted while the bodies were sliced up and or draining decapitated hanging up. Its somethjng out of a horror movie, i think Joey Testa and Anthony Senter were more affraid of the threat they recieved had they not of killed Roy Demeo. I think they knew somebody they woukdve had to of taken Demeo out i mean come on no way anybody wouldve thought spmething like that couldve lasted a life time. So i think that Gaspipe was way more intimidating than Roy Demeo obvooulsy the Gemini Twins thought so. OR AND THIS IS A BIG OR is they would have hired somebody of a dirrent race or an outsider to do the work. Pick the entire Gemini Crew off slowly bc think of it its somethung none of them would have seen coming.

I don't understand why people on these forums are so obsessed with killing and if you didn't you're not a real gangster. Most people will pull a trigger. You have to be "capable" to be a Wiseguy.

Easy listening, you guys are together. So glad to be a part of what you two are doing . Mr. Michael, you are about 7 or 8 years ahead of me in this thing called life. Like you, I always had older gents as friends. I was a big golf guy in the 70's as and beyond. Because I was good, I always played with guys that were better than I. not only did I become a better golfer and one time professional, I would be involved in their conversations, and hang on every word that they would say, because I was smart enough to know that I need to put a lot of the stuff in my back pocket, because these guys have been here longer than me, which means they know more than me. I remember one episode you were talking about that was hanging out with the guys older than you. it's been my advice to younger people for a long time. as I have said, keep doing what you guys are doing, it's entertaining, it's intelligent, and it's real . John Gotti might have been leery about Roy, because Roy was very unpredictable and violent and I’m sure that Roy felt the same way about Gotti. You are correct in pointing out that when you get a reputation of being too violent and unpredictable that you are setting yourself up to be killed, just like what happened to Albert Anastasia in 1957.

Gangsters weren’t Hollywood caricatures, they were your friends father or neighbor. That’s why when we read something like “ Gotti was afraid of DeMeo , or terrified of Chin, we know it’s just the author being overly dramatic. While some read it and take it literally. “

    Great insight by Mikey at 47:00 regarding "fear" and whether Gotti was afraid to kill DeMeo. As Mikey points out, even if Gotti had been afraid of DeMeo, that would have made him *more* likely to kill him, not less, because we kill to protect ourselves from things that we're afraid of. And for that very reason, Mikey also points out that being feared is not always a good thing in the mob because when you make people scared, they want to clip you.

    Fanastic talk and great questions and answers. I always felt the same as RJ when it came to these statements that John was somehow afraid of Roy DeMeo. Sammy even said when asked if John was a tough guy or would he personally kill someone that John would kill you in a hot second if he had to. Doesn't sound like John was too afraid to me. If you're so afraid of guys then maybe you're in the wrong line of work. When it comes to shooters and/or tough guys all I can say is there's a whole lot of seriously dangerous guys from that life who have ended up in trunks, in the ground or just never found. Yeah, guys like Greg Scarpa or Anthony Casso were dangerous guys, but they could have gotten taken out just like anyone else. Frankly I'm surprised they weren't. I remember reading about a guy named Sally D'Ambrosio from the Colombos who Sonny Franzese said was "the toughest motherfucker on the streets during his time", but guess what, he got disappeared on Joe Colombo's orders back in 1969. Michael's statement about watch out how much fear you generate in others because it may end up cioming back to get you is so true in that life.

    According to Phillip Carlos book Gaspipe , Gotti and his crew was offered the contract but they denied the action to partake in the contract. As a person who has read many books and spoke with some family and friends Roys crew known as Murder Machine who were highly involved in contract killing and even after Nino was told by Paul that Roy has to stop he did not. Read the book Murder Machine. It's from Nino Gaggis' nephew Dominick Montiglios view who was never made and basically was a bag men for Nino who sold drugs to make money. The catch is that Nino didn't even make his nephew who lived in the same house as Nino. Dominick is Nino's sisters child. After the sit down at Tomasso's with Coonan, Featherstone, and Paul, Tom, and Neil I know that night Mickey had a grenade in his pocket. The westies answered and worked a lot with Roy before Roy was taken care of and they answered to Marino after Roy. Both crews were known for the Houdini which was body dismemberment and scattering the body parts all over the city. I know this for a fact that the Westies did not fear Gotti and his crew at all. Yes they were wild cowboys. Roy's connections to just straight killers were far more deadly then Gotti and his crew. I think that Gotti was extremely smart by not taking that contract. You all have to understand Roy had a massive car theft ring and then they would sell the stolen cars to Kuwait. Where his chop shop was located was in the heart of the Lucchesse families chop shops and thats how Gaspipe was able to coerce the Gemini Twins into taking out Roy because then they could keep there same status ( remember they could not be made) and have the same protection. They knew that if they did not listen to Gaspipe that they would be involved in the contract. Gaspipe had Napeleon complex for sure. He had something to prove because he was behind the Frank Deciccio hit that was met for Gotti ordered by the Chin and made to look like zips did it

Genuinely I had shared a comment about my brother getting murdered and it literally crashed my whole family someone getting murdered you feel like they’re taken from you he was a firefighter for Boston for over 20 years. You can look up his name, Michael Ricci he lived in Marshfield Massachusetts, Michael, I see that you have such a warm heart that when you even mention the situation about your brother, I can see the seriousness on your face and I don’t even think RJ catches it sometimes how serious you are meaning how deep we had affected your life. We love you you’re growing a fan base Maybe this was your calling if you look in the Bible, there are situations where prophets did not want to be in the position they were in like Jeremiah he wanted to get married But God had other plans for him and he had to do a guy wanted even though he didn’t want it so everything happens for a reason.
