Building a Surly Cross Check bicycle from the bare frame. Another bicycle build video set to cool music. Trek Bicycles www.avantlink.com/click.php?t...
The Cross Check is my favorite bike so far. My first tour on it was the Katy Trail. Great bike. Thanks for the video. I've never built up from just a frame but what a good project.
That's what I love about Surly bikes. You can buy just the frame and build it up any way you like. It's like a blank canvas. Thanks for watching. Stay safe and ride on!!
Thanks for watching. If I bought an 'off the floor' bike, I would have to change the seat, handlbars, pedals and gears just to start. So why not start with a bare frame and assemble with the parts you like. Some see a bike frame like a canvas. You're only limited by your own imagination. Thanks again. Greeting from the USA. Hope to see you down the road. Stay safe and ride on!
That old wind trainer is so old! I used a couple of times, until I learned I hate riding indoors. But it does make a nice work stand. Thanks for watching!!
Please give your lady a double with lower gears, she will need it to enjoy rolling hills and even more longer hills! You said that you enjoy your tripple, so let her enjoy all terrain differences with MTB chainrings up front and 11-42 at the back! :D
Paul, need help! Can you tell me the brand and model of your handlebars? I ride a 2013 Cross-check and need something more comfortable (as I am 67 years young). You always look relaxed while riding in your videos. I have been on the internet and cannot find anything that looks like your handlebars that is not a 1 inch quill type. Truly enjoy your videos. Here's to your health and May the winds always blow from your back. V/r Chris
Sorry for the slow response. I've been out bike touring. Thanks for watching. I really appreciate it! Here's a link to the bars I use. Not so efficient, but pretty comfortable. Hope to see you down the trail. Stay safe and ride on! Wald 1066 Handlebars amzn.to/3fLRHVH
If and when you wear out the Surly you may want to check out a bike with the Pinion gearbox and Gates belt drive system. Here is an example of one: ua-cam.com/video/n3Thn8-lmIk/v-deo.html

After riding bikes for 45yrs and doing a lot of repairs I never saw the beauty of building it up from scratch. Thanks! Greets from Netherlands

Certainly most excellent....cool music also.....

She prefers the 1 x 11. No hassle with a FD. She likes to ride the local Rail Trail. No hills. She's good for about 20 miles a week. Thanks.
@@paulsuchecki3985 Understand. For no hills 1x is okay.
great idea to use a trainer for a frame holder.
Thanks. It's the only thing I had.
I've been enjoying your videos. A lot of good info, thanks! What do you think of the cross check for a touring frame?
Thanks for watching. I think the cross check would make a fine touring frame. Similar to a Trek 520. Keep on pedaling!

That's cool..how much does the bike weight after it's assembled?
Thanks for watching. I hadn't weighed it, but I guess about 25 lbs. or so. It's not a super light weight bike.
Please make some more videos.
Thanks. Coming soon! 👍
How come no disk brakes?
The frame wasn't set up for disc brakes. We went with the V-brakes. Thanks.
The disC brake version is the Straggler.
What size?
The bike I built for my wife is a 42 cm or 17 inch frame (XS). She is just about 5 feet even.
@@paulsuchecki3985 is it the bike size stated on that bike?
@@mustaminpalan5918 Yes.

Sounds pretty fancy. I'll have to research that one. Thanks for watching.
OMG Nooooo !!! Total POS and you will never wear out that Surly !!!
"Music" was too loud & annoying,, but other than that GREAT video..
GUESS I'M JUST GETTING OLD & GROUCHY...
GET OFF MY LAWN !!!
Sorry about the loud music. Rookie mistake. Voice track and music track are not well balanced. Thanks for hanging in there. 😎
