Thank you for this! I agree that the instructions started out great but then got kind of lazy. I was having a difficult time trying to figure out the belt assembly but this video helped me though it. Thanks again! Subscribed!
Thank you for making this! I was using the written instructions online and when I got stuck I'd switch over to your video haha Just finished wiring it. It turned on. Fingers crossed!
I just finished setting up my X-Carve, and I cannot BEGIN to tell you how much I appreciate you putting this video together!! Every step of the way I had this video up and it helped me incredibly, thank you!!
Thanks for the kind words! Always great to hear the videos see good use!
This video was at first a nice supplement to the official online instructions. After a while the online instructions became a nice supplement to this video. Thank you for helping me assemble my machine.
Sure thing! Glad it could help!!!
I haven't received my machine yet...I'd put like x 100 on your comment route 9.
Great job. Your a life saver. I used the X-Carve instructions along side your video. Made it easy for me. Thank you again.
Thanks dude real life saver between you and the inventables page I don’t think I would have got it together lol
Diy Workshop glad to hear it helped! Hope you enjoy the machine and build some awesome stuff!
Thank you for making this, it helped a ton with building my Xcarve!
Thank you so much for this video! I almost returned mine. This helped me far more than the instructions!
Sure thing! Glad I could help get it up and running!
I literally could not have assembled this without your help. THANK YOU so much for doing this video!!!!! The written instructions are okay, but not very detailed. You made it possible XOXO
Glad to hear that! Really happy to hear it helped you out.
Awesome work Josh!
Thanks Stephen!
Love that Alvin and the chipmunks doing 90s music.
How do you get the button screws to go through the waste board enough?
Hi this may sound like a stupid question but I’m having trouble with assembly once I get to the wiring , at the 40:46 mark in your video , which wires go to what stepper motors?? ( y1 ,y2, , x wire and z ) I’m kinda stumped at this step because I can’t find any in depth videos to this part to kind of dumb it down for me . Besides that great video !! Helped me get to this point .

Enjoyed the video!! If you have time to tell me,, is the sideboard a must have? I am trying to cut down the footprint of the machine before I order,,,thanks in advance!
Nah, it’s definitely not required. Really the only benefits it offers you is a place to put the controller and also gives you a nice place to hide the wires. When I decide to build a table specifically for the machine, I could see myself doing away with the sideboard.
@@DuraWoodworks Thank you!!
@@DuraWoodworks that was the same question I had. I'm just trying to keep the cost down. I'm am going to buy one this week and instead of buying the fully loaded one I just added the clamps and dust boot to the regular one and saved $66. The only thing missing should be the sideboard and calipers. Does that sound correct? Or am I missing something?
@@RwitR Yeah, that sounds about right. I would suggest either buying the calipers from them or buying your own somewhere else at some point. They have proven very useful in getting an exact cutting depth.
@@DuraWoodworks yeah I've already got a couple better than the ones they give out. I do a lot of woodworking. I have been carving all my signs freehand with a router for a while now, just wanted to try my hand at CNC. I have been researching for several months about what machine I wanted and landed on the X Carve. Have you given any thought on a 3D carving?
I've had mine for over a year and just now putting it together. It's been a box while moving. I noticed i do not have the homing kit, will that be much of a problem installing later, or can I install at all, now that it's almost complete?
You should be able to install the rest of it fine and then install those once Inventables gets you those parts. They are easily accessible as they just live at the end of the rails. Just be careful when operating your machine as you will have no limit switches to stop it from moving too far.
@@DuraWoodworks Thank You
Quick question, when attaching the left side plate are those holes threaded??
The holes on the left side plate are not threaded. Sometimes they come from Inventables with a little bit of the paint on the inside of the hole, so you need to either force the bolt in there or file off the paint.
Just looking to cut our foam board planes.... would this be advisable for a person who knows nothing about cnc? I can put things together.... just unfamiliar on running a machine like this.
AL USMC I knew absolutely nothing about CNC other than what I researched on UA-cam. So it’s definitely good for that! Haha
@@DuraWoodworks Outstanding. Thanks.
Can you tell me the height from the work bench to the spindle highest point?
Right at 13.5”. This is from my workbench to the top of the spindle at max height. Not the xcarve work area.
Thanks, I’m building the folding table before purchasing X-carve. BTW Good videos
Thanks! That folding table is the next thing on my list. It’s taking up my entire workbench making any other work difficult haha.
Bought my x-carve and assembled it this weekend. Used you videos where I got stuck. Most part investable had it covered.
Only issue I’m having at the start Y’s are going different directions when home. So tired, and exhausted after the assembly to search forms for it.
I’m sorry but if your not going to tell me what size screw I’m using. I’m practically figuring it out on my own anyways
This is meant as a general overview and review of the assembly. Most folks use this video as an aside to the instructions (very good instructions btw) from Inventables, not as their sole assembly instructions.
I like the Alvin and the Chipmunks version of Cumbersome. 🤣🤣🤣
Haha glad someone finally caught that
@@DuraWoodworks if I’m not mistaken, I heard some Soundgarden too. Great garage music to work to. Thanks for making this video it is helping me greatly.
Do you listen to the Chipmunks often? 😅😅😅👍
Didn’t say which size bolt/screw or even read the bag for which tool we’d be using. Made it incredibly hard to understand what we were using to put it together as you were going. Had to make a guess
Yeah, this was meant more to follow along the guides that the Xcarve folks supply. Sorry for the confusion.
@@DuraWoodworks no you’re fine. Thank you though for clarifying. It did help with seeing it so we could make sure with what we were doing. Appreciate it regardless. Thank you
Mine didn’t come with a board:/ I bought everything it told me to buy
Sorry to hear that! You definitely have to add it to the order, as some folks decide to make their own wasteboard.
Omffhggg there's no way these button screws got through the waste board?!? I've been trying to figure it out for about an hour🤣😭
I cannot figure this part either?
@@ilovekcid I was using the wrong size I couldn't find the longer ones
First!
You would...
Loved it .... but you were too fast 😂
Haha sorry about that, doing my best to keep the video as short as possible!
Anyone in Dallas that can do the wiring part for me I’ll pay lol
Jesus I wish there was actual lighting. I'm trying to watch you. which way you are putting the m5 post assembly nut but it's so dark. Do I want the spring part facing in or out and bottom or top? The inventables instructions the photo the guy's fat fingers are blocking the view. Of all parts to get stuck on and it's the actuator stops that are driving me nuts no puns intended lol.
Great video but the music is annoying. I give you a 98 percent !
Good. Video but I do have one bit of constructive criticism.... while I appreciate the fast playback of the video. I could have done without the music in fg mode. The audio from the video source itself is actually completely unnecessary since you overdubbed the voice work. And since I way boy hear the verbal instruction. I can't turn this down. It was brutal
His crap is to dark
