      This is a huge issue. But it isn't even just training. It's that we've let the laws be changed to this point. Where it's legal for them to kill just about anyone just as long as they "feel threatened," etc. Wake up folks! The funny thing is...things are sliding this way, and a bunch of people want to make sure that we can't have guns any longer. Because we "don't need them" and the police will take care of us? Riiiiiiight.

      ESPECIALLY IF HE IS BLACK, SHOOT. In West Virginia and in the POLICE DEPARTMENT, THE THREAT was never an UNLOADED GUN, because the guys
      that shot up the theater in Colorado with a gun lived, the man that shot up
      that Black church in South Carolina with a gun lived, and any MASS SHOOTING
      THAT INVOLVED WHITE MEN LIVED, and NO COPS WERE FIRED. Thus, in this case the THREAT WAS NEVER THE GUN, IT WAS THE BLACK MAN that he failed to SHOOT!.

If you as a criminal country invades other countries and murders their citizen and lying to the public than those politicians and criminals must be put in jail, right? But nope, not in murica. Here they defend their terrorist state and their corrupted politicians, they defend the murdering of civilians in other countries, they defend the invasion of countries (I mean they voted for Trump a racist, sexist scum who would have sex with his own daughter) and for that - justice is served - let it self do that. And we are seeing things like this about cops and citizens conflict all over the US. On every news you would found these stuff and that makes me so happy! Ivan Martinez *beside*
      And why? Cause he didn’t kill a dood with an unloaded gun? The other cops waltzed in and capped a dood whom not only needed help but wasn’t an immediate threat. No time was spent by the others to assess the situation. Which is exactly what the marine did. I’d rather have a marine by my side than a civilian with minimal training and no regard for those in need.

    • @IvanMartinez-zq4nv
      @IvanMartinez-zq4nv 6 років тому

      Imnotcleverenough Forthisnameshit you never know he was unloaded until after the threat is over, and what’s the danger of being around suicidal people? Look at the Las Vegas shooter he killed 50+ people then shot himself. Yeah you try being a cop.

    • @TheFablekid
      @TheFablekid 6 років тому +2

      Ivan Martinez they didn’t even sort of try to defuse the situation. They just popped him. When they sign up to protect and serve it should be those in need of help who take priority. They knew what they signed up for and the risks involved. If you’re not prepared to die in the line of duty you shouldn’t be a cop. Exactly why I am not. Cause I like to live. And I definitely wouldn’t want to work with dirty inhumane cops.

      Nicolette Del Palacio It's quite the opposite for majority of people. The only reason why you see so much hatred is because you're constantly searching for it. When you seek hatred, then that's exactly what you'll get. That's the problem with people today, they search for the things to dislike just to get their blood boiling and pushes them to change their shallow mind and they end up believing that's all there is, but that's simply not true at all, you're just simply lacking in perspective. Instead of focusing on trying to find some stupid reason to hate, maybe you should search for happiness as you'll only dwell and rot in the world of hatred as you'd be too weak to do anything about it in the first place.

So you would really have to vet them to make sure they are fit to be police officers.

      The point also is that they feel like they have already proven themselves. There are cops who join thinking its going to be like TV busting bad guys and that is the wrong reason to join. They lack the discipline that the military instills. You do not join law enforcement to get some action. You join to serve the community. Give them the Barney Fife treatment and just give them one bullet. They will be a lot less inclined to shoot.

    It should be a requirement that cops go through the military b4 joining, that way there will be jobs for those military personnel coming home & those that are in the reserve. Military train their people to be more discipline than the police academy.

    • @mystyc0
      @mystyc0 8 років тому +3

      Until recently, that was considered to be a very bad idea. Just think of the phrase "militarized police." What we are experiencing now is a bit unusual, in that law enforcement officers with military backgrounds are better prepared than their civilian trained coworkers. This really is not how it tends to work in human society for much of human history, otherwise we wouldn't even have a division between civilian and military law enforcement.
      Stated in a different way, our criminal justice system is so fucked up that we would probably be safer under military rule. At some point, more people will come to take that as the literal truth, and they will then try to usher in an age of military rule.

    • @callmesoul1468

I just dont understand how mistakes like this can be made? US police training must be the worst in the world!

    • @gu3z185

      Exactly. A suicidal man’s sister calls the cops and one cop came over. The officers must have noticed that the gun was not pointed towards anyone, and that the police officer had not drawn his. The police were called on a suicide situation, and the veteran realised that he wants the cops to shoot him. The cops get there, already being informed of the suicide threat, and kill the poor guy. Then, the cop with training gets fired for putting 2 officers in danger. How is this just? If the gun was loaded, the cops should have kept the guns ready, but not shoot. Imagine if cops were getting ready to start shooting you, and you realized that if you even dropped the gun, you would go to prison, he would shoot.

      Redlife666 That is the truth! A friend of mine was in a "cop" family. He told me that they are trained and ordered to look for a felony, at every call they respond to... It doesn't matter what, they are there to find tnt felony, and if they don't get enough of them in a certain time period, or enough misdemeanors, then they agree FIRED. That right there, is a damn conflict of interest. That right there, is a quota. I have a police scanner, and I listen to it now and again, and I hear different cops, calling in license plates back to back all day, everyday... and then when the license plate shows that there is a warrant or no license driver driving the car I hear them call back about 5 minutes later in a traffic stop. those cops are calling in people's plates looking for the trouble and pulling them over without reasonable cause. f****** b******* The judges, cops, and prosecutor's in my City are corrupt. HELL the ACLU is trying to civil suit them on being corrupt. One of these days, everyone is going to start pushing back... I can't wait. New York Daily News has more info. Firstly in my opinion it sounds like Stephen is nothing short of a hero and I would hope a man like him with his compassion would have stopped by my house if I or a family member was theoretically having a mental break down. I can not speak for the Seattle p.d. But as a resident, I would be honored to have him on our streets. All that said The New York Daily stated: " It also accused him of acting improperly in two other situations earlier this year. The letter said Mader allegedly swore at a woman while arresting her husband, and failed to report the apparently fatal fall of an elderly woman as suspicious. Mader said he was never given a chance to explain his action in either case.
    Mader worked for the department for less than one year. It is unclear if he had any official complaint on his disciplinary record.
    Weirton police did not immediately return requests for comment." So just wanted to add that part of the story. And I believe Stephen should have gotten a chance to tell his side. Wrongful termination in my opinion. And that is just my personal outlook. Thnx.

      The great irony in the latter situation is that the only time they actually use their internal review process to punish other cops, is when it is politically motivated.

    This is not a training problem insomuch as it is a hiring problem. Police forces will not hire any individual who has an IQ over 100 or less than 80 with the exception being military service. If you ask for a citation of this "I" can not give you one. However the last time I brought this up several others were able to find ample corroboration and citations for the claim. This practice has been around since the early 90's and because police forces promote from within the cancer has spread to the highest levels which is perfectly evidenced by an officer being fired for not killing what is ostensibly an unarmed man. A change in training is not going to correct this problem the system needs to be gutted and rebuilt.
