I met this band in Bologna in 1991 they were the support group of Simple Minds for a concert there. The night before the all band was tryng to order some food in a fair were they were going to play the day after with the Simple Minds. They couldnt speak any words in Italian so I helped them-I didnt know who were this guys!-I explaind them the food and so on and they invite me and my girlfriends to eat toghether .We eat, smoke some jonts and we slept in one room with two of them.Me and my girl in the bed ,the drummer and the guitarist in the soil of the room. They gave us the pass for the concert for the day after and for the entrance of the post concert for spent some times sill toghers. I still have some papers with funny stories about me and theirs autographs. My good! What a memory and what kind of guys they were!!
Damn..This really takes me back.I love this song..Reminds me of Galway ragweek..Superb song and they truly are an awesome live band..The energy they send out to their fans is incredible..Ireland had some amazing bands in the 80's and 90's..Their material/songs are still be much better than a lot of rubbish released today.
Bought this album as a 17 year old in 1990. As I did with House of Love's album the same year. For me, the two albums occupy the same territory in my musical/memory landscape.
I was 18 years old in 1990. My favorite bands at that time were House of Love, James, An Emotional Fish, U2, The Stone Roses, The Cure, The Cult, The Mission, Simple Minds, Texas, New Model Army, Sting, Queen, etc... Unfortunately, I have never been to England, I have always been afraid of flying. But I watched the bands that came to Hungary to perform live. The British music is the best in the whole world. It has always been and always will be.
great band , I saw them for the first time in Ghent, opening for Simple Minds, I fell in love from the first notes, a superb show and a typical rock voice that I love, I have their 2 albums
definetely 1 of the greatest irish bands ever...saw Jerry Fish recently at a small gig here in Mayo,,,what a showman,,fu*king brillaint..best night i had in yonks and there was'nt any booze available at the gig,but he had everybody up rockin after the first two songs...i guess genius lasts a lifetime..celebrate...
This was a great time to be in Ireland. Although then, as now, the country was on its knees economically, there was the enormous buzz of Italia '90 and great bands such as That Petrol Emotion, Microdisney, Hothouse Flowers (well, greatish), U2 and of course these boys. I saw them at the Sherwood Lodge in Midleton, Co. Cork. What a night............ up on the stage joining in the vocals, people up dancing, EF really knew how to work the crowd and would join you for a few pints after. Thanks..
I was goin thru old stuff from storage, found a cassette I recorded from local college radio, circa 1991,...this was on there, thank you for uploading this
@Bertometal perfettamente d'accordo.
IT matters not whether you play to a full house in an arena or a small intimate surrounding,Talent is not always rewarded sometimes luck does not go your way as it was with Emotional Fish.I saw them in concert in 1992 and i was charmed and won over by their sheer talent. They were supported by a group who were making their first public appearance they were called the Cranberries,I think they played to bigger audiences afterwards
I use to listen to this on the radio, on graveyards during meal-brake. I would eat sandwiches, drink pop, and dream of a better life. Now that was the better life. But I was old enough by then, to know that. A life may die, but your dreams don't have to.
Gerard pulled me up on stage at a small gig in The Bailey Court Hotel in Howth after I started talking like a posh old gentleman into the microphone that he had handed down into the crowd. Only a week or 2 prior to that, I was on the big screen at the U2 concert telling 40,000 that "I shit my pants the other day for no apparent reason whatsoever". Quite an unusual time of my life and burned up a good chunk of my 15 minutes of fame...

There are rock songs...and there are rock songs... But "Celebrate" by An Emotional Fish.. hooks me every time!!!

First time living away from home, going to college, standing in a bar with this song blaring, surrounded by friends, happy days, great song.

'Heartache is enough for anyone to shoulder' - what a line.

@@laszlovas9028sounds like my kind of bands! Although I need to see The Alarm on your list👍
Nice display of the unique digital growl of a G&L L2000 bass. Really showcased in this tune,
Seems I'm the only one who hasn't heard this before. Lovin' it!
Brilliant. Flood of memories come flooding back

fabulous music. what a talented musician. RIP
RIP? Did somebody die?
Think she's referring to Martin Murphy, the group's drummer. He passed away in January 2017. The rest of the band are still alive and well, afaik.
