One of my favorite songs from R.E.M.. Let me rephrase that. My Favorite R.E.M. track of all time. This song is an experience once lived. Life imitates art or Art imitating life.
Awesome song, R.E.M. has many great songs that were left off albums. This one is from Out of Time. It can also be found with other Out of Time outtakes on the Automatic Box set.
I love this song, this soundtrack, and even have the criterion of the film. Soooo good. I'm in the process of making karaoke tracks of everything from the soundtrack. I even talked KFS into making the karaoke of this one!
The Automatic Box is a four-disc box set by R.E.M., released in Germany in December 1993. It was primarily a collection of B-sides from Automatic for the People, though disc four contains B-sides from Green-era singles (then collected on the 7" vinyl box set Singleactiongreen). "It's a Free World Baby", "Fretless", "Mandolin Strum", and "Organ Song" were outtakes recorded during Out of Time recording sessions.
They planed to put it in "Out of time" but they didn't make it on time. So it was a B-side, Maybe for "Losing my relgion" can't remeber. But one of their best in my opnion
the e.a.c. to me is the Eternal Association Changes similar to e=mc(2) evolution=matter change matter change.Eternity defined as the passage of worth...blessed you...
I think Michaels story is a sad one about being mixed up in a secret affair with each member of a coupling. He is having an affair with him and her. They have their little secret ways of getting together. Someone on the outside has figured it out and threatens that they are gonna spill the beans on him. He responds that he is already empty and alone. Sad ,beautiful and Kate couldn't be any better of an addition to Michaels voice.
"I think the song is written from the perspective of the child of a squabbling couple. His father is a workaholic and his mother is cheating ("He's got his work and she comes easy"). When they're together, they're fighting and the child has to accept it." - songmeanings.com/songs/view/36981

One of my favorite songs from R.E.M.. Let me rephrase that. My Favorite R.E.M. track of all time. This song is an experience once lived. Life imitates art or Art imitating life.
One of many great tunes in this soundtrack. Most hauntingly beautiful.
It isn't a soundtrack.

He's got his work and she comes easy
They each come around when the other is gone
Me, I think I got stuck somewhere in between
I wouldn't confide in the Prodigal Son
The die has been cast, the battle is won
The bullets were blanks, a double aught gun
I couldn't admit to a minute of fun
They come and they come and they come and they come
I accepted with a gentle tongue
No words spoken, no need to speak
Take it, stomp twice, ring the bell
Tether that ring and phrase
Enough with the rifle and talk already
We all know what it means
Take this conversation to your great divide
I can only swallow what I ate
And I don't hate him
And I don't hate her
They come and they come and they come and they come
I accepted with a gentle tongue
No heart broken, no need to speak
Don't talk to me about being alone
(Don't talk to me)
Don't talk to me about being alone
(Don't talk to me)
Don't talk to me about being alone
Reach for each other before you leave
Reach peace with a E-A-see
Don't threaten me with a gentle tease
Don't threaten me with angry
Please, please, please
Don't try to tell me what I am
Don't talk to me
(Talk to me)
Don't talk to me

I agree on everything you say about the song, the soundtrack and the movie.
Kate Pierson is a precious "add on" in this song.

Don't talk to me about being alone.. Chilling...

"Don't Talk To Me About Being Alone" 😄
i have often wondered which album this song could fit into, any suggestions?
New Adventures in Hi-Fi perhaps? It doesn't really fit any of the albums.
Automatic for the people?
Replace Shiny Happy with this. Now you have a 5 star album.
They planed to put it in "Out of time" but they didn't make it on time. So it was a B-side, Maybe for "Losing my relgion" can't remeber. But one of their best in my opnion
Asaf Cohen They could have saved it for "Automatic". It would fit nicely after "Sweetness Follows".
Great video!!...very touching, well donde...thanks for posting

A lot of counter-culture rebels in this one, I think I saw HST like three times, maybe the same for Tom Waits.
