NOW JUST LOOK AT THIS BIG HEADED, ARROGANT GUY ! 1) Not anyone can afford a log splitter. 2) Not anyone wants to waste fuel for splitting wood after already having used a combustion engine driven chainsaw. 3) Not anyone wants to be surrounded by stinking exhaust gases after already having used a stinking chainsaw. 4) Not anyone wants to have even more loud engine noise after already having had a lot of noise while working with a chainsaw. 5) Some see making firewood as a welcome distraction and/or even a good exercise. 6) Standing upright and splitting those big wooden discs with a wedge and a common 2 kg lump hammer is quite easy, fast and enjoyable. I even do this with 1 m long upright standing log pieces. Just like cutting a cake into pieces but using wedges instead of a knife. Afterwards I cut the splitted 1 m sections with my quiet, light and nevertheless strong 230 V electric chainsaw, a rocking circular saw or sometimes even by hand with my 90 cm long bow saw/hacksaw. @Steven_R_Taylor Obviously you haven't read my comment! Because if you had, you could've realised that I don't use an axe and I don't recommend to use an axe!!! If any I use a splitting mallet but only to assist if absolutely neccassary. Best regards, luck, health and wisdom.
@@Chr.U.Cas1622 I can see you are very passionate about splitting by hand, which is commendable. Afew things to note, I rented that for about £60 a day, fuel less than £10. Most of that wood was seriously knotty so would have been almost impossible to split by hand in any kind of decent time frame. I split the same amount afew years back by hand and it took lots of time and energy. @Steven_R_Taylor Okay, Sir, I see your point too. 2) Please nevertheless kindly allow me to suggest some things that might be better for you, your purse and the environment: Next time maybe try out or buy an electric hydraulic log splitter (no gasoline/petrol exhaust gases, no ear protection needed!). If possible try/buy one that works in both ways (splits one log and when going backwards, splits another). Buy or fabricate a kind of X- addition respectively splitting cross to put on the splitting wedge. With that you will be able to save a ton of time because not every piece of wood needs to be handled so often. Throw or let fall the splitted pieces into a wheelbarrow instead of a bag/bucket that has to be lifted from the ground. Or at least put the bag(s)/bucket(s) in a wheelbarrow. Please make absolutely sure that the log splitter sits high enough so that you don't have to bend over, not even a bit. Because that's what wears you out and damages your back in the long run. Please don't ask me why I know = I'm always good as a bad example. 🙈 Thanks for your attention. Sincerely yours.

Good bit of kit, definitely needed something with that amount of pressure to split those rounds. Like you say you're going to have plenty to burn. 👍
@@everestyeti Definitely, some of them split clean but most of them were knotty and needed the hydraulics.
Great job! Nothing easy about splitting wood
@@thenotorious2312 Thanks, well this was pretty easy compared to an axe 😅

@@Chr.U.Cas1622 I've split plenty with an axe, and that splitter is by far the easier option.

Got a log splitter in aldi every bit as good only cost 200 euros
I bet you did 😂
Don't retract the ram all the way on every stroke, just enough to get the round under. Saves loads of time. Decent splitter
