I hope you try making continuous brew kombucha. It's soooooo nice to always have it on hand.
I've just made my first ever brew today! I have a very large ceramic kombucha pot with a spigott and now I've come across this continuous method of brewing using the pot I own I'm so stoked! I have "bucha" mad kids and i can see how this method would be so helpful for us!
Thanks heaps for your thorough video on your process!
Fantastic!!!!! I love continuous brew!
This is helpful!
I've been making/drinking Kombucha for years. My favorites are blueberry and strawberry with chia seeds.
No way!!! What quantity of chia seeds do you add? I would love to try that!
@@Rebecca.Robbins I use old GT's bottles and now use about a TBSP of chia seeds in each bottle. When I first started using them I only added 1 tsp. and found it wasn't enough. I don't think there is a right or wrong amount to add. Each person finds their own preference.
Oh my goodness, you’ve started something here. I was just relaxing and watching a few of your weaving videos, then this popped up and I jumped down a rabbit hole! I’ve been researching kombucha all afternoon, I’ve ordered my starter scoby, some temperature strips, and I can’t wait to get going. I’m going to love this channel 😍
Yay!!!! I'm so happy to have inspired you!!! Have you seen any of my vanilla videos? That's another super fun and delicious "hobby".
Really enjoyed your video for continuous brew kombucha. You made it simple 😊🌺
Thank you so much 😊It really is simple!
Thank you for the helpful
Info. I’m following your channel now. Hoping to find instructions to set up as scoby hotel. So much to learn.
Thanks for watching! You just need to pop the scoby in a glass jar with enough kombucha to cover it. Just don’t let it dry out. The secret is, you actually only really need the liquid anyway!
Continuous brew is much easier than people expect. Thanks for sharing this info- great explanation!
It’s so easy!!!
This sounded so much easier than I assumed it was. I’ve had the same issue where it takes 2-3 weeks to make a batch, then I have to hold myself back and conserve my bottled kombucha by drinking one every 2-3.
I loved doing continuous brew kombucha. I actually started making water kefir now and it’s even easier so after years of making kombucha, I’m now switched over to kefir! I will have to make a video about that!
@@Rebecca.Robbins I’m asking for continuous brew supplies for Christmas! Where the heck did you get that super nice jar and the bottles?
Also where is my kefir water video😂
Oh shoot! I will try to make that water kefir video next week!
My bottle I brew in I bought second hand. The bottles that I bottle in are upcycled GT kombucha bottles!
@@Rebecca.Robbins Ha! I thought that’s what those bottles looked like… you’re awesome, thank you so much for the videos and replies!
I always struggle with my kombucha. I’ll have to start trying again!
Things like this can be hard when you have young children.
Looks delish!
It is!!! ❤️
This is super interesting to me! I brew my booch for a month so I would need multiple jars 😅
It used to take me a month to brew, but once I started doing continuous brew I could bottle once a week. I have actually switched over to water kefir instead of kombucha now. It’s more forgiving and easier in my opinion.
Strawberry is my fav
Oh I haven’t tried strawberry! I will have to try that!
I love my kombucha. It's fresh and healthy and it calms me down to do something. The idea with big jar is nice but how do you prevent mold? I sterilice the jars regularely.
Mold won't grow on it unless you have done something wrong. I have never once sterilized a kombucha jar. You want bacteria to grow! That's how kombucha works!
Thank you
You're welcome
I love your pretty kombucha dispenser! Where did you get it?
Thank you! I actually just bought it from a neighbor who had bought it for a baby shower. She found it too big to store so she offered it up in our neighborhood. I’ve used it ever since!
🍹
Cheers!
Thank you! Do you get a build-up of scoby that you need to remove from the main container? Or does it pretty much stay the same size?
It definitely grows! Every once in a while I would just toss the whole pellicle (what you are calling a scoby) out. You don’t need that part. All you need is the liquid starter.
Can I ask the capacity of your rage continuous brew vessel? Is it 2 gallons?
I can’t remember exactly, but if I had to guess, I would say yes, 2 gallons. Definitely much larger than the 1 gallon that I started with before going to continuous brew.
My 2 gallons is still at 4.4 after 5 days. I have a new SCOBY. Did I do something wrong?
I’ll start by saying that I have never oh tested my kombucha, but I also only bottles my continuous brew weekly.
Thx for the video! I am just beginning a continuous brew and I noticed you stirred your CB before filling your bottles? It was fast, but did i see that correctly? Can you tell me why you stir the batch? Is that necessary? Thanks again! I'm super excited to do my second ferment!
I do stir! A lot of the yeast seems to settle to the bottom, so I stir it to make it homogeneous. It helps with the carbonation.
@Rebecca Robbins / Fiber with Friends awesome thank you! The carbonation is my favorite part of kombucha lol
Is it okay for me to re-use kombucha bottles that I bought and drank out of (and then cleaned)?
Absolutely! I’ve been using the same ones for YEARS!
Where did you buy your big spouted jar from? My first jar is only 1.3 gallons.
I bought it second hand, but it was originally made for punch!
@@Rebecca.Robbins Oh, classic! I will keep an eye out. Thanks!
May I ask you a question? How warm is your home in winter? I’m from the mid west and usually our house is around 68-70 in the winter. Is that too cold for kombucha?
I’m in Canada, but I do keep my house a little warmer than that during the day. It will definitely work at that temperature, it just takes a little longer when it’s cooler.
🍵😋
Have you made kombucha?
Hi where do you get the guide/chart for size containers ratio to sugar all that
The chart I have I saved from a kombucha group on FB that I belong to.
What ph do you like to see right before you bottle your kombucha? It is cool here where I am right now and after 7 days my kombucha tastes good but the ph is still acidic at 2.5.
I have never tested my ph. 🤷🏼♀️ I do live in Canada.
@@Rebecca.Robbins I have seen ads for kombucha warming pads that are sort of like an electric blanket, but apparently I don't need one. I might as well bottle my brew up and drink it.
I guess I'm worried about the caffeine keeping me awake at night (if I don't brew it long enough).
@@Rebecca.Robbins I think I used too much loose leaf tea. My bad! It is why my brew still tastes like tea after 7 days. It's my very first brew so I am excited. Thank you!
I bet it needed to brew longer. That first batch can take a while! If you are starting a new batch every time, I used to leave mine for two weeks or so. After a week I would start to taste it daily until til it tasted “right”. With continuous brew it’s a little different.
You're not getting chlorine from the tap?
I have a whole house water filter, so that helps.
@@Rebecca.Robbins I am sorry to be so nosey. Lol
No worries. I tend to not worry about a lot of stuff that people warn about. I also use stainless steel when I mix my kombucha and kefir. Never a problem!
