    I hope you try making continuous brew kombucha. It's soooooo nice to always have it on hand.

    I've just made my first ever brew today! I have a very large ceramic kombucha pot with a spigott and now I've come across this continuous method of brewing using the pot I own I'm so stoked! I have "bucha" mad kids and i can see how this method would be so helpful for us!
    Thanks heaps for your thorough video on your process!

    I've been making/drinking Kombucha for years. My favorites are blueberry and strawberry with chia seeds.

    • @Rebecca.Robbins
      @Rebecca.Robbins  2 роки тому +1

      No way!!! What quantity of chia seeds do you add? I would love to try that!

      @@Rebecca.Robbins I use old GT's bottles and now use about a TBSP of chia seeds in each bottle. When I first started using them I only added 1 tsp. and found it wasn't enough. I don't think there is a right or wrong amount to add. Each person finds their own preference.

    Oh my goodness, you’ve started something here. I was just relaxing and watching a few of your weaving videos, then this popped up and I jumped down a rabbit hole! I’ve been researching kombucha all afternoon, I’ve ordered my starter scoby, some temperature strips, and I can’t wait to get going. I’m going to love this channel 😍

      Thanks for watching! You just need to pop the scoby in a glass jar with enough kombucha to cover it. Just don’t let it dry out. The secret is, you actually only really need the liquid anyway!

    This sounded so much easier than I assumed it was. I’ve had the same issue where it takes 2-3 weeks to make a batch, then I have to hold myself back and conserve my bottled kombucha by drinking one every 2-3.

    • @Rebecca.Robbins

      I loved doing continuous brew kombucha. I actually started making water kefir now and it’s even easier so after years of making kombucha, I’m now switched over to kefir! I will have to make a video about that!

      It used to take me a month to brew, but once I started doing continuous brew I could bottle once a week. I have actually switched over to water kefir instead of kombucha now. It’s more forgiving and easier in my opinion.

    I love my kombucha. It's fresh and healthy and it calms me down to do something. The idea with big jar is nice but how do you prevent mold? I sterilice the jars regularely.

    • @Rebecca.Robbins
      @Rebecca.Robbins  2 роки тому +1

      Mold won't grow on it unless you have done something wrong. I have never once sterilized a kombucha jar. You want bacteria to grow! That's how kombucha works!

    • @Rebecca.Robbins
      @Rebecca.Robbins  5 місяців тому +1

      It definitely grows! Every once in a while I would just toss the whole pellicle (what you are calling a scoby) out. You don’t need that part. All you need is the liquid starter.

    • @Rebecca.Robbins

    Thx for the video! I am just beginning a continuous brew and I noticed you stirred your CB before filling your bottles? It was fast, but did i see that correctly? Can you tell me why you stir the batch? Is that necessary? Thanks again! I'm super excited to do my second ferment!

    • @Rebecca.Robbins
      @Rebecca.Robbins  Рік тому +3

      I do stir! A lot of the yeast seems to settle to the bottom, so I stir it to make it homogeneous. It helps with the carbonation.

    May I ask you a question? How warm is your home in winter? I’m from the mid west and usually our house is around 68-70 in the winter. Is that too cold for kombucha?

    • @Rebecca.Robbins
      @Rebecca.Robbins  11 місяців тому

      I’m in Canada, but I do keep my house a little warmer than that during the day. It will definitely work at that temperature, it just takes a little longer when it’s cooler.

      I bet it needed to brew longer. That first batch can take a while! If you are starting a new batch every time, I used to leave mine for two weeks or so. After a week I would start to taste it daily until til it tasted “right”. With continuous brew it’s a little different.
