In traditional Chickasaw society, medicine was practiced by the "alikchi'," which may be translated as doctor or medicine man. This healer was considered to be divinely chosen and possessed a vast store of knowledge. According to Dr. Brad R. Lieb of the Chickasaw Nation's Heritage Preservation Division, "Chickasaw medicine men combined psychological, physiological and spiritual healing techniques in a holistic application to patients that also involved their family and community, and they often had positive health outcomes for those reasons."
The traditional Chickasaw healing art was negatively impacted by the general suppression of Native American culture in the 20th century, and its practitioners were reluctant to share it with anyone whom they perceived as unworthy. The result has been that very little of this knowledge has been reliably documented, and only a few elders who remember the old techniques remain. But an effort is underway to save the remnants of this valuable part of Chickasaw culture for future generations.

Amazing how the Choctaw are so close to our Chickasaw cousins, 10:46 they talk about little people who teach healing to the Chickasaw, the Choctaw believe in little people called Bohpoli who choose a person to be a medicine man, and teach him the secrets.
I at 61 am just finding out I am Chickasaw I wish to learn and pass it on.
Just found out I'm Chickasaw. I think I might be a medacine man. My whole life has been about making medicines and collecting them now I own a mushroom business for healing and I'm all about the Lord. I know this is what I am.
This made me Cry, I have been with alot of conflict lately with what my Tribe has become, it's becoming more corporate like the United States of America, and we are taking on so many bad ways of U.S. government that we allow them more power over our people and if they had it there way we would be gone. It hurt me to see state of Oklahoma fighting against the Mcgirt change, of making half of Oklahoma native land.
I feel the same way. I'm Choctaw, Chickasaw, & Puerto Rican.
@JonDove-i1l most tribes got rid of blood quantum as its wrong. As a Native I shouldn't have to carry a card showing such. No other race does this in the United States. Most tribes prefer descendant route as they will help find proof relation and allow that person into the tribe. Mainly as technology has changed and times, so change needs to be made to reflect to create a better outcome. Because the truth behind blood quantum was a way for the government to monitor native population in hopes to watch it decline to 0. But as time has shown Natives dropped traditional ways not by choice, but for the tribe to survive. My tribe about 5k forced off tribal land to walk the trail of tears. Eventually gave into all demands being stripped of identity, language, beliefs after forced assimilation. Later as times finally slowly change more Natives had children with Caucasian women as majority of the United States became mainly Caucasian and so fast forward to now Chickasaw is 70k strong most being biracial. In today's time Tribes can monitor there own numbers without the need of CDIB. All Natives deserve to be free to be themselves without the need to provide proof. Imagine if they started making blacks carry a card showing they are descendants of slavery. People would be out raged. Apologies if I came off confrontational.

My Daddy grew up in the Fort in the 1920's-30's. Several of my relatives are buried in the Post Cemetery inside the fort.

I have heard this story ,I dont know how or by whom , but true story at my last place i lived i saw a 🦉 after burning sage and cleaning my house of spirit and other thiings and fasting speaking with our Higher God Jesus Christ ...But when i saw it ... whether by instincts of a the holy One God above , warned me that it was there for something not good Also i remember being told about the "skech owl" Also , by ancestory on Tennessee relatives and and what they said about it...And im 61 and for the frist time im beginning, to see and hear that these story are true also these spirit of Protection Is vary strong From Ancestor . But after seeing the Owl about 4 weeks later i heard some took his life by jumping off a roof ..sadly and my heart goes out too his family and love ones ..I just feel its vary important to heed the powerful Compassionate loving God in the times of being still ....The spirit is just in this Universe and no matter what It has a way of letting us know that we are not alone ..And scores are truely being settle by The Almighty Who is not Human this i believe. And For taking land to stealing pillergin and plundering others salvary . Royalty and Non-royality...Everyone some where in their own SCORES of history Agriculture Tool ETC, whatever when every The Universe Kowns Like Mother Nature and her Season all of them ..She knows when to be gentle kind loving and when to bring on the harshness as Mother earth after a while she helps the helpless and eventuelly she will settle the score Genaration to genaratio So we must be humble when call to be humble and when streghten by his grace to War or to stand and figjt the great bettelment as was done in historical tyme Theirs only on Judge And He is It....He will judge judges seeers and every being be it benevalent ,Magnifcent are the Lowest of the three... I am part Chickasaw through a great great great grandfather, but WOW the lady at 27:11 looks just like my fathers mother lol and she has that same type of way of annunciating her words except we are Black so my grandmothers accent is also a bit southern to me

You should try to enroll if you have lineage tracing back to the dawsroll. It doesn’t matter how much you are for our tribe, as long as you make an effort to connect with your culture your Chickasaw.
