I am not even remotely Christian, but listening to Mr.Weiss and Mewithoutyou gave me so much respect for religion as a whole. Given the damage that misdirected faith and any sort of invasive spiritual extremism can and has caused, people like Aaron Weiss should serve as an example of what real, humble, and constructive spirituality should be like.
i'm not even a christian but i love this guy and the way he holds to his belief. i wish everyone was this humble and non-invasive with their own faith. what a great guy and an amazing band
“So yeah, I used to also think that to do good and to do right was at the center of my faith. Like, do all the good things and don’t do the bad things. But I’ve just screwed up so much that I have nothing left to trust in but God’s mercy. So forgiveness is not something only that I have to do, but its sort of the only thing I have to trust in… the only hope I have.” - an absolutely frickin beautiful way of describing where i've been at in life for a while
Don't forget joy, aaron! We are strengthened from the Joy of our God, who laughs! Praise God, don't forget that you are a son to him, not just a servant to the world. An Heir to righteousness, that you can ask anything of the father that your joy may be complete. Smile; you have a calming smile when you're happy. ps:Does anybody else get the feeling like you're listening to a man drinking, when you hear him? Thats why i love listening to him "sing." pss:alleluia
wow he is such a humble man. and if they wanted to be glorying to their selfs, they would be saying that they would wan to be in the top ten charts and stuff. they absolutely glorifying to god. i want to create a band that only glories god. god bless aaron weiss and the rest of mewithoutyou
he is always so deep, humble and insightful every time i talk with him. He is one of the most sincere musicians i have ever met. There aren't many that are. - Luke of Awaking Mercury
he's seriously so humble, and seems like an incredible man. i've seen them twice, hoping to meet him and get to hear him speak after a show one of these days.. if you haven't seen them live yet, i recommend you do, they're incredible.. theyre going on tour with Brand New and Thrice this fall, can't wait!
There are poor old men sitting in the gutters of your average metropolis with nothing going for them but the sun in their eyes and the concrete under their feet who have more to teach you about love and life than your local bishop, cardinal, or priest. We are blessed with wisdom, not for our own validation or vindication, but to honor the name of God and glorify his Creation.
I am a Christian, and i really have to state an observation of mine here. The humbleness and forgiveness that Aaron has is supposed to be how all Christians act. I don't mean to say he's perfect, But the person he is striving to be like is. Please don't paint Jesus Christ in the wrong light. We're trying to be like him as best we can, not the other way around. Peace, love, respect, thanks for listening
Weiss, along with many other believers, inspires me to be more like Christ. His humility really shows me how prideful and selfish I AM, I just want to live better. He is a prime example that God is alive and active in the world.
Aaron is an individual. he is the one who is writing and speaking, to glorify God. That's far more beautiful than God using him as a puppet to glorify himself. Any genius Aaron has is his alone, and it's very beautiful
What Jesus meant in "Blessed are the poor..." is part of the Be Attitudes, the essence of being that changes things. So blessed is the poor for they will be wealthy in the heart of God when they know God. Wretched rich does not mean that it is bad to be rich, but only that wealth does not come from money but wealth in the soul, which is not exclusive to the poor. The more you work for God the greater you become in the wealth of blessings - because giving and receiving are in the same loop.
Awesome. Thanks Aaron. You helped encourage me to ask for someone's forgiveness when I have been putting it off for a few years. Thanks for reminding me of what it means to be a forgiveness-focused individual.
YES! I never got into Weiss' amazing band because of the fact that I thought he was preaching like an Evangelist, but now that I know he's only trying to teach about the extent in which Christianity forgives sins is very comforting.
No, it is His only gift. It is an all-encompassing gift that simply covers all things. There may be other things in our lives that come from God, but all things stem from knowledge of Him.
For those curious, Sufism is a sect of Islam wholly devoted to fixation upon God and his ways for the purpose of drawing closer to him in this life, rather than waiting to be with him in Heaven. There is a little occult in their practice, but certainly there's nothing wrong with seeking wisdom in the deeply faithful of the same God.
and jealous and angry and wrathful and forgiving and gracious and true and noble and...shall i keep going? He must show the full extent of his glory, we are to worship him in that fulness. How are we to worship him the his full extent if we have only seen part of his glory and true nature. He is a God to be praised in the fullness of his true character. I pray your eyes would be opened to see this!
i love him i love this its so great that he wants to serve God and everything its awesome I love music so much, and i like a lot of "secular" bands, but when i find a christian band it just makes me so happy. a good one i mean. like there are a lot of christian bands out htere that suck, so this is great
the song between the interview is off of their album called "catch us for the foxes" then name of the song on the otherhand i do not know, its towards the end of the CD if you google they lyrics for that album
this is real stuff... I like how strong his convictions are. i wanna be an artist like that. God is forgiving... i can forgive to. hmmm something to think about.
I feel the same thing. I've written lyrics for a while, and I want to be in a band. I feel like that's what God wants me to do, but I'm having trouble trying to understand why I should be on a stage or be screaming about my emotions or even about God. He is the way, though
All relationships have challenges. But the more that you get to know somebody, the more you can understand their intentions and what's really going on... May you get to know God. And as such, know more about the mysteries that make wanting to know Him seem less exciting. His mysteries are sometimes the most exciting part!
@FreshNapp I read he was raised a Sufist but didn't really stick with it (but, revisited some of those themes in the new album). My impression from his lyrics, esp. those in Foxes & Brother Sister, was that he was a Christian (see for example Carousels, where he says, with reference to Christ, "if I didn't have You as my guide I'd still wonder, lost in Sinai" However, in one of his interviews he implicitly affirms universalism (which, though unorthodox, is still a form of Christianity)
Dude, i totally agree. I was speaking out against some legalism that could have been interpreted out of Butafarie's original comment thats all. Good works flow from true faith.
@3sonoman carousels of "catch for us the foxes" i think that may be the only song played during this. he describes the lyrics and such. Amazing song though
when he says, "itd be nice if in rhythm with your breathing we could be sorry ask forgiveness" or something, where he got that idea from? It sounds very familiar.
Hey you guys should read "Conversations with God" by Neale Donald Walsch (195 pgs.). Its very different From religion but it incorporates some of the philosophy that Weiss is talking about. this band rocks too. paper hangers is my fav. by them.
I like this man so much. Whether or not you believe in God, manifesting in monetary gain and material things that serve no purpose is a bad idea. I want to meet Aaron.
This is not speaking of the death that will come to all people. Everyones body shall surely die, the death this speaks of is the death of the soul. There are those that will live after they die and those that will be sent to their death in hell after they die. When it says "where you are going" in verse 10 it is not talking about physical death, rather it is talking to those not redeemed by Christ who will be in hell. God is a God of love, this is one of his attributes he is also rightfully just
I'm 90% sure that is just a rumor that's been perpetuated through the years... I think has a lot more to do with him just choosing his words carefully so as not to speak something not necessary. I've found him to speak quite well when I talked to him in person...
I quite rather enjoy this song and I would like to know the title of it. We should take the time to look at our own lives and our own relationships before we express all these opinions. I think its about time we followed after God and became silent for a while, spending time with him as he does for us.
Due to the Christian themes of Aaron Weiss' lyrics, they have been categorized as a Christian band, although in interview, A. Weiss has stated he doesn't think they are a Christian band.[3] Their lyrics reflect a personal relationship with God, and are not evangelistic. Other lyrical themes explored include suffering and self-doubt. -WIKI
Really? That is a fascinating statement. Personally, I've been a follower of Christ most of my life. I've studied the Scriptures, meditated on what they mean, sought wisdom from the thoughts of people smarter than I. I believe that I know God...but I would not for one minute be so arrogant as to presume that I understand Him "perfectly well."
@TheMarsVo1ta Actually, that is historically inaccurate. The canon New Testament was written before A.D. 70, the fall of Jerusalem and the "Leave no stone one upon another" general who besieged it (which fulfilled a prophecy of Jesus, by the by). It was written by his disciples, the last of which was John. Further, read Josephus, who is not a Bible writer, who was a Roman apologist, who writes about Jesus and John the Baptist (this from Wikipedia alone, as well as several other sources).

The way God works and speaks through Aaron Weiss is truly amazing.
I could listen to this guy all day and not get bored.
wow he is such a humble man. and if they wanted to be glorying to their selfs, they would be saying that they would wan to be in the top ten charts and stuff. they absolutely glorifying to god. i want to create a band that only glories god. god bless aaron weiss and the rest of mewithoutyou
respect and praises for aaron weiss man.
aaron weiss is such a blessing.
he is always so deep, humble and insightful every time i talk with him. He is one of the most sincere musicians i have ever met. There aren't many that are. - Luke of Awaking Mercury

Saw them with thrice again this year. (2020)

Aaron, you hit the nail right on the head. Praise christ.
And here we are so many years later, at the end. "Nothing left to say... one day"
god is love and love is real.
I am a Christian, and i really have to state an observation of mine here. The humbleness and forgiveness that Aaron has is supposed to be how all Christians act. realest person in the world
This is what religion should look like. Well done, Mr Weiss.
Aaron is an individual. he is the one who is writing and speaking, to glorify God. That's far more beautiful than God using him as a puppet to glorify himself. Any genius Aaron has is his alone, and it's very beautiful
i want to be a musician and all the things he has talked about has crossed my mind too many times
Why aren't more christian artists as thoughtful as this guy?
The way you worded this statement is brilliant.
This makes me soooo happy!!!
What a kind and generous thing to say. Thank you, LivingOblivion.
amazing Aron, you've helped me get through some pretty tough times I freakin love your music and the msg you put in your songs:)
Beautifully put!!!

Wow thank you Sondra, that was well said, you should write lyrics too! Sounds like you have a lot that you could teach Aaron
How can someone dislike this video? I mean, it takes a lot to be able to be so open about your religion and this guys is. I really love this band:)
thanks for that heartfelt message brother! well put. lay it down, simple and easy, and humble...
i. freaking. love. aaron. Wiess.
Awesome. Thanks Aaron. You helped encourage me to ask for someone's forgiveness when I have been putting it off for a few years. Thanks for reminding me of what it means to be a forgiveness-focused individual.
This guy is very wise. I respect him greatly.
It's awesome to listen to him, what he has to say is interesting and meaningful.
YES! I never got into Weiss' amazing band because of the fact that I thought he was preaching like an Evangelist, but now that I know he's only trying to teach about the extent in which Christianity forgives sins is very comforting.
Hes a good man i met him in December his hugs are awesome!
one of the greatest song writers to ever live
I'm not religious in the least, but I have mad respect for Aaron.
No, it is His only gift. It is an all-encompassing gift that simply covers all things. There may be other things in our lives that come from God, but all things stem from knowledge of Him.
regardless of everyones varying beliefs there's no debating what a good guy he is
This band is blessed for a very good reason.
dude, i love how humble this guy is before the Lord! "God is my only hope" beautiful =]. God uses this guy in an ameazing way!

Ahhh I was trying to think who he reminded me of! good one.
all i can say is 'wow'!!!!!
This man is great. What an example!
God is good
Hey wow, that's a very beautiful interview-video you got here. Nice editing and song transitions as well.
i wish all christians were more like aaron, i would like them as a group more

and jealous and angry and wrathful and forgiving and gracious and true and noble and...shall i keep going? He must show the full extent of his glory, we are to worship him in that fulness. Arron is definitely doing it for God now. I've spoken with him he's incredibly humble...

what a cool guy
the truth is humble
amen dude, mm hearing all the way on that one.
nicely said.
@HeliWolf420 It sounds like you are drawn to the things that Aaron says and embodies. :) That is wonderful.
I feel the same thing. I've written lyrics for a while, and I want to be in a band. I feel like that's what God wants me to do, but I'm having trouble trying to understand why I should be on a stage or be screaming about my emotions or even about God. He is the way, though
Very intelligent.
he's kind of a modern day beat poet. he could write a book and everyone with a working brain would buy it. it would be my favorite book.
go to a concert of his. They have a potluck before every show. I've hung out with him several times.
i agree!!!
I think this guy does a good job at inspriing his listeners

Just got into mewithoutYou, currently listening to a-b life and love it, whats the song at the start of this video?
thanks
The jamming at the end of this video is amazing! Is it a recorded song? Could someone please point me in the direction of finding it? Thanks
I love Aaron and he is very amazing.
Why is everyone fighting on here?
wow

yup ;-)
whats the song in the beginning?

Hes not high and he doesnt smoke pot ! Some ppl dont do those things thats just the way he talks
@FreshNapp How do you know that Aaron Weiss is not a Christian? (I'm just curious - did he state that in an interview, or song lyric, blog, etc.)
I like this man so much. Whether or not you believe in God, manifesting in monetary gain and material things that serve no purpose is a bad idea. I want to meet Aaron.
what song is this between the interveiw?????
you can
what is the name of that song¡?

yeah aaron is great, but the video couldve been so much better. next time link the concert playing shots with actual audio from THAT concert
@FreshNapp That's not really anyone's place to judge.
I think they're called "songs"
@TheMarsVo1ta Actually, that is historically inaccurate. ever think about that.
