    Oh I just love how dopey your dog is hahaha! Thanks for the video, I am just learning a little about how jade behaves for an unrelated project to this sort of thing. Your commentary was super helpful for me learning a bit more about the stone. Cheers mate!

      Foxy was a funny dog. She had no teeth but still thought she was fierce when she wasn’t sleeping. Lol. Glad the video helped.

      Thanks. As far as the jade goes, I'm doing okay on my supply. Put it on eBay you should get someone who will snap it up pretty quick. Leave a link to it in the comments and I will share it with my peeps.
      All the best, Michael

    What can i use to cut a jade bangle ( circle) bracelet
    in half? My wrist is too big to get my hand thru it. Its 64mm diameter. I have dremel tools and " diamond wheel" disc attachments, but no string saws. I Also have hacksaws with coarse, medium and fine teeth. Hand Sandpapering grit, from 80 up to 400, and whetstones up to 10k grit.

    grinding and polishing, but how to CUT a large stone to smaller, workable pieces? there is a skill involved I'm sure, esp. where you have inclusions and things to watch out for. I'm thinking of getting a large slab

    • @GotchaRocksJewelryDIY
      @GotchaRocksJewelryDIY  5 років тому +2

      Hey Paul, Good question. I would recommend a Lortone with a 10 to 12 inch blade slab saw. As for the blade I would recommend something like a Green Lancer crinkled rim diamond saw blade. These are also good for jaspers and agates pretty much your tough stones. Here is a link to a saw lortone.com/products/model-ls12
      As for inclusions and other stone cutting curve balls that might have to be another video. What kind of stone would you like to see me cut? I will try to put the video together for ya.
      I wish I could cut saws using esp. LOL Hope this helps.

      Hello Anthony, This machine runs at about 1800 RPMs. Much slower than a tile saw for instance. Thanks for the comment. All the best, Michael

      I now use a CabKing machine which I sell on my website. However if you like the one I’m using I believe it is made by Lortone.

    Hi, my name is Marty and I have started a channel on here called Marty's Rocks and I'm trying to be part of the lapidary section but have no idea how or what I'm doing. Anything you can do to help would appreciate it. Thank you

    • @GotchaRocksJewelryDIY
      @GotchaRocksJewelryDIY  4 роки тому +1

      Hello Marty, Happy to help. It looks like you are doing the right things as far as using an educational component to your videos. How to's are great to get interest and subscribers. Here are a few things that will help with your channel.
      I always uses a tool called tubebuddy. it helps you add the right keyword tags to your video. It also tells you the volume of people that are actively searching for your type of video.
      In your description try to use at least 300 words describing what your video is about. Be sure to use the keywords in your description.
      When shooting your video's have a darker background and two lights on your subject matter. This will sometimes be you and sometimes it will be your stones. If you find that you are getting glair from the lights you can defuse the with a white sheet . Hang the sheet about a 2 or 3 feet from the light. This will reduce shadows and glair. I could real nerd out on this subject but I wont:)
      Find the top video on your subject and try to use the good elements of the video in your video.
      Overall, Good information is king. Keep teaching people about your passion and people will want to be part of your channel. It took about a year before my channel started to grow and that is about the time I started doing what I described above.
      Also I would love to see you guys pulling some cool stuff out of the ground on a rock hunting trip.
      Hope this helps, You are off to a good start don't forget to give me a shout out when you hit the big time with UA-cam :)
      All the best, Michael

    Hi, is there a good smaller machine for grinding and polish stones that you could recommend?

    • @GotchaRocksJewelryDIY
      @GotchaRocksJewelryDIY  4 роки тому +1

      Hello Jedidya, If you are looking for a smaller machine there is a tabletop grinder and polisher that may fix the bill. This is my affiliate link if you want to check it out. amzn.to/3gRWcgh This is a nice machine and it takes all the features of a larger lapidary machine and packs it in a small unit. Let me know what you think. Some of my students just love this one. All the best, Michael
