Agreed. The unveiling was terrible. They spent most of the time telling us AGAIN the history of Leica. And then they brought out a guest. who didn't even own a Leica M. The guest then proceeds to tell us that if he bought a Leica, he would buy a Q!!!! This video was a much more modern, focused way to introduce the camera.
What i loved most about this video is that you used Prints to show and describe what the camera can do. We all need to spend more time printing, whatever the size, to get our memories out of the computer and in front of others. Great job!!
A professional presentation? Wow... This should have been the reveal, that would have been much better than the actual live reveal, which was horrible by the way, especially inviting a guest that doesn't even own a Leica and is too afraid to pick one up, simply because he is a celebrity. I hope Leica stops using celebrities to promote their cameras, it's just stupid, and it doesn't work, and real photographers don't relate.
I tend to agree it didn’t work, but I don’t begrudge them for trying. There’s something appealing about Leica not being a huge, polished organization that gets everything right. Seeing missteps makes them feel more human, which can create more kinship. Good on them for trying- even if it didn’t work out as well as they intended.
@@ChrisRobb77 I agree! English is their second language, just like it is for the Japanese, honestly there is more disconnect when a Japanese person talks then these guys. That said I respect both Leica and the Japanese camera manufacturers, they are DARN GOOD at what they do! I just wanted to listen to what Stephan had to say about the camera, a very honest view, after listening to him I really dont need to see any reviews! Leica are good at what they do and they hide nothing!
Jesko does not sugar coat anything, I like listening to him, he says very little words but whatever he says carries a weight and a wealth of information. Indeed the 40MP really lets you see how sharp the M lenses are, vintage and modern alike, i own the tiny 35mm f3.5 elmar and that lens wide open is super sharp, for a 1940s lens, it really is as good as a modern lens! And I am defiantly sure that many would crop images with this body, and you will still get super fine crisp details with your choice of M lens, a much needed upgrade for sure and at the same price as the other bodies, it will not be difficult to choose this over the other M10 models.
Very well done presentation. It was interesting to hear about the development of the Monochrom alongside the M10 R, and I thought the comment about the M10 P as distinct from the M10 R was right on the mark.
@@JLeoH Sadly unimpressive compared to cameras a fraction of the price. I'm a fam of all things Monochrom and have the typ 246, but honestly I've been taken by images from the 240 and M10 more than what I've seen thus far.
Mr. Kaufmann is probably a good chairman of Leica, but he just should not have done the release session yesterday. It was an awkward experience and a hopeless bad presentation, not worthy of the Leica brand. Why does he not let some of the really competent people at Leica do it??
I could not agree more with the comment. I hope that someone at Leica, ideally Mr. Kaufmann himself, realises that product presentations just don’t form part of his expertise. I felt sorry for the people behind the product at Leica, the presentation by far missed what they put into the product, technologically, emotionally, craftsmen wise. I’m a Leica owner and fan of the brand, to put this into perspective.
I think it was totally fine. While somewhat awkward, it is just the way it is and there is no need for professionally managed and staged emotion. That is what all int'l companies have been doing and it is so tiring and alienating. I re-watched the M10-R product presentation at home and found it to be quite entertaining and enjoyable, especially because of the bloopers. As long as the products stay true to the tradition and don't "instagramize", I am perfectly happy! The M10-R seems to be an awesome camera. Here are some sample shots: www.flickr.com/photos/meister-camera/albums/72157715138547682
Macht weiter so :)
What time frame are we talking about for an M11 release? The M10-R is great. But it has shortcomings...no UHS II SD card slot, low-res by today’s standard optional EVF, lack of higher-res back panel LCD etc...these guys have great English though!
I think it's stupid that the normal M10 has been taken out of the range. Anyone who advertises with the essentials should also give normal photographers the chance to actually get the essentials. In normal M photography, the M10-R makes no sense in upgrading it. With the M10, leica has crowned a system, and now it is putting an expensive hat on top of it. Why not keep the choice between both resolutions in the program? I have been taking photos with Leica for over 20 years and have always justified the high prices to others. The newly issued prize is a slap in the face for people who want to make money with the Leica M. But maybe Leica is no longer interested in these.
Let's be honest there are several complications about Leica. Leica is not a technology-leading company. Leica ergonimics is not the best. Leica should check canon 5r in that sense. And the price is ridiculous, repelling and doesn't make any sense. What I appreciate about Leica is that those gentlemen have a true concept of photography. I hope Leica will continue to contribute to developing black and white photography. best.
It's not a mass market product and follows an 'old way' of marketing products. A Leica camera is always a *deliberate* choice, just as it was decades ago when choosing a profession. You choose once and might miss out in another area (opportunity cost). Capitalism has enabled many to own more of all but "all" comes with a compromise. While Leica is expensive and a luxury good, it still offers so much. If you make this deliberate choice and buy a Leica camera, especially an M, you will realize how quality still matters and that the price is in fact negligible for what you get. At least this is how it was in my experience! All the best and regards
Creo que es una maravilla de cámara. En 1972 me compré una Leica M4. Nunca he tenido un fallo.
Leica legt doch sehr großen Wert auf "MADE IN GERMANY". Bei der Muttersprache sollte man beginnen.
This video is what the live unveiling of yesterday should have been! Awesome insights from the M product manager. Nice job 👍🏻
Amen lol.

Good job guys. One day I'll have a Leica! ❤️🇩🇪🌟🔴

You don’t understand Dr. Andreas Kaufman’s style. He likes to keep things casual and conversational.
And i think someone is running out of ideas for new cameras
To be fair I don’t think he was invited.. I think he was just available...

Very much enjoyed the talk. Well done. I look forward to put my hands on one soon.
An excellent interview. Thanks guys.

Great to see your face Marc! Wonderful video, thanks for sharing.
1. How is the battery life with new sensor and same battery?
2. Is SD card slot still UHS-I compatible?
Appears to be UHS-I but no speed issues. Used it with SanDisk 80mb/s 64GB card.
Loving this new setup. Hopefully Leica Vietnam has it stocked.
Well done!!
I am trying to be excited about this camera... but after the live reveal I am having difficulty...

Geht mir auch so.
Looks like a nice camera. That landscape example is shocking though!
The most exciting thing about my job ..is cashing my pay cheque..
ok, grato !
Sehr gutes Produkt.

I love Leica very much
That's nice! ❤
Seems like such minimal changes between versions.
I la la la Leica it!
Super! Nice!!
please make a m10 thats mirrorless with OLED top screen that can indicate the dials.
one day i want to have that camera
Richtig gut 👍🏻⭐️⭐️⭐️
An aluminum version should be made, call it Leica Lite👍
