      I have the same problem on my 03 Tahoe 5.3 Z71. I'm thinking about replacing that gasket but I cant figure out exactly where the leak is. I'm damn sure its right up there just like yours. Any advice? my engine has 207k miles on it.

    Nice video. Love it. I'm not mechanic but I try to learn new things everyday and so I watched this video 1 time and realize how very simple it is working on my 5.3L Vortec and other GM

    I thank you for your video. I did a gaskets change today. And I found a trick on the passenger side cover. If you take all but the last dolt out you can move the coile pack up enouck to get to all four cover bolts and it all came out with no problem

    I've actually worked on truck where we literlly took it all apart. A good way to clean all engine parts (obviously not any electrical parts) is with gasoline. Just get a little tub or anything that you can place the parts on and fill it with some gasoline, get a brush and wet it with the gasoline, and brush clean your engine parts over the gasoline. It's just better and safer than washing engine parts with water, since theirs always a risk of leaving water in hard to reach places. Gasoline will just leave your parts super clean and its safer than water when it come to engine components.

    Do you need any type of adhesive before you put the gasket on or can you just put them on like that

    • @vinnyshootz
      @vinnyshootz  2 роки тому

      @vinny shootz Thanks for Great Info/Vid. Butchyuu have me puzzled🤔. U say Its best not to insert black rubber grommets into valve Cover 1st but to put dem on Bolts 1st. Very next scene u holding cover inya hand wid da Black Grommets inserted in it and NO screws /🔩 bolts.
      Did U Change ya Mind?
      Ino Sum ppl have said dat dey tore their Grommets putting them in Valve Cover 1st as Opposed to putting them on Screw/Bolts 1st

    .... Why wouldn't you clean out all the caked on oil? It has an incorporated PCV that can get clogged and cause major issues

      It’s like 160 inch pounds but if u just use a ratchet and tighten it u will feel the bolt bottom out that’s when it’s good

    • @markknights7905
      @markknights7905 3 роки тому +1

      Wrong. It’s 106 inch per pound. From repair manual book. For the valve cover bolts.

    You didn't reconnect the hose for the brake booster on the drivers side and didn't reconnect the the breather tube that runs from the valve cover to the throttle body on the passenger side. At least not in the video.
