As an Australian I served as a rifleman (conscript) in 1970. I have returned twice, once with my two sons, and a second time with my wife and two daughters. I'd recommend that experience to all veterans.
Nothing but the utmost respect to all vietnam veterans. These men are the sons of the greatest generation and you can see the warrior spirit carried on. God bless and thank you all for your service and sacrifices!
Jesus. That guy was a prisoner for over 7 years. 7 years. My great aunt was murdered when she was attacked by a drunk lady with a knife in a bar. The lady got 13 years for manslaughter (because she was drunk and apparently 'didnt remember it'). She was out in 7 on good behavior. And was probably treated better in prison than this war HERO was. Really sad
Warriors who became tempered via pain...yet time has broadened their perspectives where peace is warmly embraced underscored by a natural desire to love one another as best as possible. These are some of my brothers...I salute them all!
The inhumanity and cruelty is shocking but the acceptance and forgiveness is Totally Amazing! God Bless All Who Suffered. This is A Lesson That Should Be Remembered.
Someone we knew told us how they went to Viet Nam for a visit. They said they went to a former POW camp. She remarked that it did not look so terrible. Her partner agreed. I looked around the room and shook my head. When I was called on my reaction, I remarked that none of us were there so don't think that what was seen was not "fixed up a little" for the public. Peace truly has a taste the protected will never know. May God Bless these heroes and welcome each and every one of them into Paradise.

My mother cried when the POWs came home in 1973, even though we didn’t know anyone who served in Vietnam except for my Dad’s cousin who had returned in 1970. I had two neighbors, one on one side, one on the other that were Navy officers, but one was actually CIA, (I asked him), and we had an FBI agent across the street. I learned a lot just sitting on their front porches. In any case I always felt very attached to the war and the pows that were left behind, especially in Laos.
War is ugly. We love you guys. Thank you for your service. You helped us get near China and other enemies over there. We have our Defense there now because you made the way.
I never thought the day would come in America when anyone, yet alone a former president, would get away with making a insulting, dismissive comment about a veteran, especially one who spent 5 years in a place like the Hanoi Hilton. And 70m Americans don't have a problem with that. How sick.
McCain paid a dear and heavy price as a POW. In his later years, transformed into a politician, he made many statements others would find very distasteful and hurtful. Trump's response to McCain was directed specifically to him in an active, fighting manner. I would bet my last dollar that the Trump of today would not make such a comment and would even apologize to Senator McCain face to face, sincerely and completely. I am one of those 70 million and I had a problem when Trump made that slur, I was mad as hell then and I am also a combat veteran ('66-'67). Neither man is an angel, nor am I.
Vietnam Museum in Saigon is nothing but Propaganda BS! I returned in 2005-2006 living in Saigon then to Chau doc for another year! I did visit their Hospitals for their veterans. Very heart gut wrenching experience for us all!

Linebacker II operation in 1972 was kept secret until U.S. allowed to publish in 1999. But Vietnam published in 2021. Battle of 1972 in Vietnamese version Battle of Dien Bien Phu Tren Khong. I watched to the end. Can't believe 30 years old radar 3cm made in 1942 was connected to Sam2 made in 1950 and then knocked down B-52 in real films during battle. In fairy, should mentioned electronic radar box of F-4, B-52 was repaired and then used it as part guidelines Sam2 missiles. At that time 1972, Soviet with Sam3,4,5 and 6 but won't send to Vietnam. I saw in films few U.S. pilot disrespect ill discipline. Used signs language time to time. No go home because their fault. Many MIA forever can't find because ill discipline. Attack NVA rob AK-47 that's why grenade in their mouth.

I was there in 2012 to virtually all the places seen in this video.
