Great reaction! I started cheering as soon as you said "it's like he's drowning" because you're spot on. I interpret it as him sinking to this dark place and away from his Eden. "I spit blood when I wake up..." that's him waking up in this new reality where things are dark and painful and the entire song is him yearning to get back to Eden, when things were innocent, pure, and good. Sleep Token is an incredible journey. I recommend having the lyrics up for any of their other songs you react to. They're so poetic really enhance the experience. 🖤 Liked and subbed.

Vessel also writes and performs all of the lyrics and instrumentation except for the drums. II does the drums. They don't make a bad song. They bring it 100% in every song, but you have to really dive into the lyrics. I recommend (to your manager) to put Ascensionism and The Apparition on the list.

III and IV (three and four or ivy lol), join them only live and play bass and guitar. They are unreal live. I recommend listening to their other songs
Yes they can do most genres even in the same song! This is one of best songs I've ever heard . This is Vesels breaking point in his trilogy story. When you give all your love and devotion to someone(or something if you believe the lore) that can't love you back fully (eden). A push pull tortuous dynamic that he finally realizes in this moment will not Ever be fulfilled.

Vessel does all the vocals, he writes everything, with the exception of the drums. Live, he does have some backups from one of the other guys, but he still does the screams and growls live.
Vessel singing about a toxic relationship he was in and put him into some really dark places. Take me back to Eden is basically a reference as Eden is when the love was joyful and good, and he wants to go back there, but the love changed into toxic and made him suicidal and drowned in darkness. He poetic lyrics are present in all their music. A high recommendation for "Rain" and "Atlantic" :)

I think one thing that people missed is that in the beginning Vessel says "I WILL travel far beyond the path of reason, take me back to Eden" but the second time he says "I HAVE traveled far beyond the path of reason, take me back to Eden." At first it was just a humble plea for forgiveness, but now he's drowning in guttural panic begging to go back.
Pleaseeee react to more sleep token. This whole album is amazing. I recommend "Ascensionism" "The Summoning" "Granite" and "Chokehold" as next listens :).
Alkaline has got to be my favorite song by them! Its definitely one to check out. Be careful though, if you go too far down the Sleep Token hole, you'll become part of the "cult" 😂
