The footage begins with Jackie bringing in fluff for the last delivery and shift change for the day (March 7th). Shadow gets up off the eggs and flies off. We have a zoom on the eggs when Jackie gets up to roll them. There is no confirmed pip seen at this time. Jackie will incubate them overnight and into the morning (March 8th).
In the morning, Jackie remained incubating the eggs, getting up to give them a roll and settle back down. Jackie begins to track ravens above her in the nest tree and you can hear the cawing. One raven perches close to Jackie and she remained on alert. The raven flew off . She gets up for her break and Shadow arrives to take over incubation of the eggs. Jackie will return to the nest an hour and half later & she brings a stick with her and urges Shadow to get up. Reluctantly, he gets up off his treasures and Jackie takes over incubation.
FOBBV has confirmed that egg #1 is not viable as I mentioned here a couple of days ago. Egg #2 has a small window left for hatching as it is day 40 today but if it does not pip in the next day or two, it could be non viable as well. Egg #3 is 37 days old and has a few more days left to hatch. 💗 Regardless of the viability of the eggs, Jackie and Shadow have remained dedicated and committed parents and are doing everything in their power to hatch these eggs! The cam op just caught it on a nearby tree. He managed to figure out that he could fly to be where he should be, but, unfortunately it all took place on the top of her back and from what I could tell, Gabby didn't move her tail. She probably figured it was a moot point at that moment, as he was already done. 😮

This is unfortunately quite regular on this nest. It's just a terrible location to hatch and raise young. If they can survive well into spring, it's great, the real difficulty is getting that far.

@@annwilliams1073 Why this nest has a low rate of hatching? The nest is about 7100 feet above sea level, one of the highest elevation nests. I was at 8000 elsewhere in California and I could feel the effect of the thin air. I wonder if low oxygen is effecting the eggs. Also, the weather is brutal at times. I don't know how much the weather differs from Alaska where there are eagles too; for instance, wind, humidity, etc.

I have to say Harriet in M15 used to be my favorite eagle couple but after Harriet left and paying more attention actually to the characteristics of Shadow and jackie...... They have to be my favorite most amusing most hilarious couple out there the way Jackie goes on and on and on with her talking and Shadow is so quiet and aware of what she's saying but systemically ignoring her is hysterical and all of you guys that have mentioned the way he brings in fish to lure her off the nest only for 30 seconds of brooding time is awesome and very intelligent of him
I have to say I'm very proud of him this year for staying on brooding time longer this time than he ever has while moving sticks as she is talking up a storm to him anyway it's been really fun I hope those eggs are viable I'm crossing my fingers and praying :-)

I agree, all the nests are great and I love SWFL too. M15 is an amazing creature and his mate too but J and S are hilarious. That coot foot and the look on her face + the way Shadow looks at the camera (at himself maybe?) was perfect. Almost every day these 2 are up to something funny.
What's amazing to me is the couple chatter & they act like love birds & very devoted to eggs ,same as m15& f23...except much more conversation. It could b cam acoustics though on each nest site
Amy. J & S are Personality Plus Eagles and additionally, "Death us do Part " eagle mates. This Nest is their Playhouse and Playground for all to see. The Sadness we see now, can't last forever. Nature is the Lord's part of his world having animals--but it is still His World. J & S are always hoping for a brighter future-- be it one day or longer. In the rain and snow and wind and cold
I'm so emotionally invested in these two. I could cry when I think of no eggs hatching. So much time and effort that they've both put into keeping those eggs warm and safe. Jackie's been buried in snow several times. She's been rained on and withstood fierce winds. It'd be a shame if they don't get at least one eaglet. Do eagles suffer emotionally when their eggs don't hatch? Or do they just move on as if nothing?

I know the first egg wasn’t gonna hatch but however, I still have faith and I also know that Jackie and Shadow know if or if not their eggs will hatch. Maybe (in my opinion) they do know that the first egg is not gonna hatch but however, I think they might know that the other two just might and possibly they might be a little later then what is expected.🙏❤️🦅🦅🥚🥚. I’m holding on to faith for the two and stranger things have happened in the animal world. If they don’t know, then why do some Eagles bury their eggs after just a couple of days? I believe they clearly know! Just my opinion but they are Extremely Intelligent and I believe they know and can hear them in the egg right up to the last minute. Otherwise I don’t think they would continue to sit on them? @@janetannerevans2320

No bird knows whether or not its eggs will hatch. They simply continue to brood according to instinct.

I have followed M15 and Harriet’s nest and came upon this one. I’m now in Love with Jackie and Shadow and watch them Daily! I am praying for at least one Eaglet for them! Ahhh he’s telling her to go get a break and I’ll take care of the kids. How cute they are. I was amazed to learn the nest is 5 feet across and 6 feet deep. Wow what a house build.

Now getting concerned something in their environment is stopping them from having viable eggs. Oh those cheeky Ravens!
Even the ravens are 'sensing' the urgency of the situation. Last year once J&S abandoned the eggs it was only 20 minutes before the ravens cleaned up the nest. A necessary "evil" in order to encourage the hormonal change for another attempt at mating and clutch #2. It's a very short window as illustrated in last year's second attempt. They were on the first eggs too long.
I really appreciate the FOBBV webcams and the clips by Lady Hawk as a means of learning more about the secret lives of Bald Eagles.
On the brighter side, my eagles, Denali & Sally have been visiting every day since early November for their 'allocation' of salmon, hooligan, lake trout, and char to see them through the winter. Last year their first egg dropped on April 15th. In the past two weeks they are gone much of the day, I assume working on the nest and bonding, before showing up before sundown for a meal. I still haven't discovered the location of their nest - but its within a 7 minute eagle flight round trip when Denali is hauling fish back to the young in mid summer. ~KK~
Awe so hoped that these eggs would hatch .shadow and jackey have been so dedicated to them...such precious moments watching them.

Wonder if it's possible to give them an orphaned eaglet if one is available. I think I only remember one year their eggs hatched, one of the two eaglets passed unfortunately, Cookie I think his name was. Wish all the best to one of the most loved & dedicated eagles.

Jackie and Shadow have continued to show us such dedication towards their eggs. Whilst all the time they showered each other with affection and treat each other with such respect. I've never once seen Jackie trying to dominate Shadow even if Shadow tried every trick in the book to oust Jackie from the nest with his interesting necklaces😂😂😂 . Shadow will do his utmost to make sure Jackie is well fed and doesn't think to steal her food. Lovely couple 💑💑

Really hope they get at least one baby!!! But the weather is so harsh there, the eggs need to be incubated at 100° and even with all her feathers, that's not easy to do when it's 20° and she's buried in snow and pelted with rain.
I’m going to cross my fingers that all 3 will hatch and we get to watch the magic unfold, each day we watch them get big enough to fly away.
