To add my two cents, I do believe that Whitebeard was awakened. Chapter 1030, where Law used his awakened abilities for the first time, is what convinced me. Law's base powers, within a certain radius, affect other people and the environment just like Whitebeard's base powers. When awakened, Law was able to infuse his devil fruit into his weapon which gave him a whole new arsenal to use from. Several times during Marineford, we also saw Whitebeard infuse his devil fruit into his weapon in order to do special attacks.
This may just be pattern recognition or coincidence because realistically these are two very different fruits and awakening is not universal but I thought I'd mention what I think is fairly compelling.

thats actually a good spot, I was always thinking how did whitebeard infuse his weapon with tremors, I alwyas just thought it's one of his DF abilities since the power system is very vague but now it makes much more sense

I never get why ppl say g5 should have a drawback it's an awakening. Why should luffy be the only df user with a drawback. g5 is unlike g2 3 and4 in that he can freely control every parts of his body like his brain and heart became rubber. So luffy not being fully proficient with it makes more sense than having a drawback for his awakening.

Kaido's flamedragon form was simply his most "badass" looking attack for the finale, but it was a no-brainer that he would lose with it, I think even to him. Oda even had to bring up the "old man" Hyo again, to pretend that fighting without touching would be anything new. (One has to pay attention to this storytelling tactic, very similar with Zoro and CoC.)
the thing is oda himself claimed the fandom would not be satisfied with luffy beating kaido with a big massive punch only to do exactly that eventually, it's weird saying this but wano is the longest but the most rushed at the same time..

But you have to understand that Luffy's bajrang gun is literally the size of a small island like onigashima and you can't tell me that if onigashima fell on marine ford it wouldn't destroy the whole island just from the impact now imagine if that island was coated in conquer's haki which boosts the attack potency by like 5 times or more and then internal destruction ryou haki and just for good measure make it drop down at supersonic speeds what do you think is gonna happen. At this point luffy can replicate all the destructive of feats that white beard can and more if we're talking about old man white beard.

Out of anyone in the one piece world luffy might be the most resistant towards vibration attacks because it's rubber so he might just have the trampoline effect where if you get punched by a quake punch it might just stretch him out and bounce him back. Also you're completely forgetting what I said in the comment above how does whitebeard counter luffy's ability to fly and bring down attacks on him from the sky if he can't fly himself. Not to mention that his physical strength, speed, stamina and durability currently is higher than white beards was in marine Ford and this is not even up for debate due to the increasing scaling.

This topic also comes up for the "Pirate King" by the way. That is, invincibility is not really the definition of the PK, such as it is for certain characters. The PK can just defeat all others (and evade etc.). But a strong argument can be made that this is not as attractive as being almost the same strength, plus naturally, literally physically (almost) "invincible".

I think it’s fair to interpret whitebeard and kaido both understanding the importance of specing into haki more than their at base op devil fruit. Vast majority of their fights are basically over for most people in a few quakes or blast breaths. So them viewing it as more worthy to learn and fine tone their haki capabilities instead of taking the time to awaken already busted fruits
Kaido is definitely awakened and I believe he specifically awakened when he arrived in Wano. His fish fish fruit is based off the Japanese myth where basically a carp transforms into a dragon after it climbs up a waterfall and passes the dragon gate. I think it makes perfect sense from a storytelling standpoint as one of the only ways to enter Wano is by climbing up a waterfall with carps.

Sick Roger was able to go toe to toe with Prime Whitebeard. Luffy was able to go toe-toe with Kaido after "figuring out" how conquerors work ( San D. Als pre Gear 5th ). Luffy surpassed Rayleigh already dude. And the fact that you don’t even realize that yet is the problem with the power ups in Wano. The jumps in power were literally just toooo big. Luffy went from getting one shotted by a Yonko to beating a Yonko. It makes no sense, Luffy now literally has to be the strongest character in the show. He literally beat Kaido who really could arguably even be on levels on Prime Whitebeard and Roger. Oda just said f*** it in Wano. Because he literally just started throwing out power boosts and tier jumps like candy.

One of the things about luffy that is so much to his advantage is his elasticity magnifies the force of his blows by so much. Even if he isn’t necessarily “stronger” than someone else he can still potentially pack way more force into his attacks
What people fail to understand is that unlike his previous gears which are basically techniques that forced Luffy’s body to surpass it’s limits, not actual transformation unlike Gear 5th which is his Zoan transformation basically and; therefore, doesn’t have the same type of timelimit or stamina consuming side effects actually quite the opposite in fact
Well possibly when he isn’t exhausted since during the fight he goes out of gear 5th, and completely crashed after winning, but that’s just because it was his first time that came as a last resort. It is funny i assumed he would awaken on his last legs, and that’s what happened it’s like when Ichigo, goes into Full Vasto Lordoe, he did it when he was desperate to win.
I think a good way of simplifying the arguments is as such. Imagine a scenario to where during the battle at Marineford to save ace, we replace Whitebeard with Kaido. I think the vast majority of us can agree that the outcome would be much different, with it being vastly in favor of the pirates just based on how powerful Kaido, to the point where Ace may have been saved. If you can agree that Kaido would perform better than you can do the math and see why currently Luffy beats old Whitebeard.
Whitebeard had the means to do it but his fruit would have gotten everyone killed, Kaido has no qualms about that lol
the "sick"beard we saw at marineford is different from "old"beard who nodiffed Ace in his sleep. old Garp also loldiffed Marco without trying for reference.

@@YOURmama2012 Tanked? HUH? Akainu was taking enough damage that at one point, a marine straight up yells "AKAINU WATCH OUT" to warn him from Whitebeard's ass clapping from behind. Near the end of the fight, several people thought Akainu was DEAD. It's definitely impressive that he survived but I wouldn't say he tanked any of WB's serious attacks.

Kaido didn’t take more damage, Whitebeard had a portion of his face taken in addition to magma fist to the chest while being immensely sick and STILL wasn’t dead. The most ridiculous endurance feat in the series by far. Kaido is more durable yes, Luffy isn’t really more durable it’s just that bullets don’t go through rubber. Also consider that Whitebeard couldn’t use his Conquer’s during MF meaning his defense was logically much lower than it should have been since we know you can coat yourself in for defense
Well I guess you could say whitebeard took more damage because he died but kaido took a higher number of equally damaging shots. I don't think we should diminish the amount of damage kaido took just because his body is more durable than old whitebeards.
I think that's his point..when you consider that Big Mom's and Kaido's defenses are totally impregnable to any attacks without ryuo (remember Big Mom was totally unphased by Whole Cake Gear 4 Luffy), and WB was actually taking damage by bullets and canons..it's like, what are we even talking about here lol

2: when WB fought shanks they split the sky meaning WB could still use COC and it should at the very least be at the level of luffys COC when he split the sky against kaido, meaning WB COC is STRONGER than yamatos and zoros. if old man wb is allowed to use COC vs luffy like with shanks (cause in marinefort he could no longer use it) then its a closer fight than people think as a COC quake paunch is nothing to laugh off.

People might disagree with me but let's be honest here:
Whitebeard was the MC of the marineford arc and had a huge plot armor like:
No haki.
2 holes in his body made by lava.
Constant heart attacks.
Even bullets and canons were hurting him.
And he was the world's strongest man and oda had to project him like one. So, he punched akainu twice and later went on to beat Blackbeard who had just arrived at the battle.
So, if Oda draws a fight between luffy and whitebeard, luffy will win but it will be a very close fight.

And yes your Haki has to be strong enough to touch logia users it’s the only explanation for why Whitebeard couldn’t touch Aokiji or Kizaru but Marco could. Can’t even say Aokiji was off guard because Akainu was also surprised by Marco. People miss the small panel of Kizaru avoiding and owning Whitebeard. Yet Whitebeard touches Akainu later on, why didn’t he dodge that? Bc WB’s Haki went up from rage boost. When Vergo fought Smoker he said he was vulnerable against a superior Haki user. This is the same fight where Doflamingo said to your Law your cutting ability is useless against his Haki which people ignored for years until it was stated against in Wano
Not really sure what you mean by "healthy old whitebeard". The Ace flashbacks+ Ace novel confirm that Whitebeard's sickness was already sapping his strength by the time Ace was challenging him to fights and it had weakened him enough that he eventually had to start using to DF powers to fight Ace. He got weaker and weaker and the weeks/months after his clash with Shanks, WB could barely use observation haki, had no shown CoC usage and wasn't using any advanced armament from what we know either. Also Whitebeard himself confirmed on panel that even years prior to Luffy's adventure, him being able to beat Kaido at ALL was questionable.

I would really love to see a video scaling Sanji’s Boeff burst attack bard of the schematics you presented in this video. Sanji pretty kicked queen with so much power it shot queen up well beyond Onigashima which is a crazy feat and I see that as him being stronger than Yamato
I think alot of this comes down to when Whitebeard was introduced.. If Haki/Awakening had been a big thing at the time I think we would have a better understanding of his strength at that point.. The fact we don't even know for sure if he had Advanced Haki at the time gives him a severe nerf.. But I'm willing to bet he had the whole lot. On the subject of Awakening that's a whole other bag because what kind of ability would that fruit even have he can already effect the surrounding area with quakes.. Or maybe that WAS the awakening..
Realistically, Luffy could've beaten Old Whitebeard even before Wano. Whitebeard is *slow* and has been hurt by attacks far less potent than what we've seen from Gear 4. Gear 4 Luffy would blitz him all day long.
Even Sanji and Zoro would beat Old Whitebeard. The scaling of One Piece is way higher than it was back in Marineford. Trying to hold up Old Whitebeard to One Piece's current top tiers is like trying to hold up Six Paths Pain to Sage Madara, or Pain Arc Sage Mode Naruto to Six Paths Sage Mode Naruto.

People forget that Luffy only ascended halfway during the fight... if he went into the fight with Advanced Conqueror's it would be a fair 1v1 against Kaido. WB getting mid diffed
This is objectively false. It's not even ambiguous. Luffy still lost decidedly after first awakening Advanced Conqueror's. Then when Luffy was about to lose G4 in round 2, it's obvious his final conqueror's attack wasn't going to end Kaido because Kaido still went on to take much more damage from G5 hits. So no, with only advanced COC, Luffy still would get murked by Kaido in a full 1v1. G5 is the actual toss-up but still leans Kaido since Luffy can't maintain it the entire battle yet.
@@Shark-hn4mv G5 vs Kaido did not lean towards Kaido, sure he couldn’t maintain it but that was literally for like 2 seconds. There wasn’t much Kaido could even do with G5 because of the toon physics.

True. I think G5, so far, is a stamina and endurance boost mainly. When it comes to damaging the opponent, haki is still the key. Just like what kaido was talking about few chapters before he was defeated. Luffy's haki was stronger than Kaido's in that last clash.

1st, that would mean Luffy'd own Marineford Akainu. Which I don't think is the case at all. And I think OP'll show that in the future. Luffy will win, sure. But Akainu won't be easy to defeat. Not a chance. 2nd old man WB split the sky with Shanks. Meaning he used advanced CoC.
It's clearly and obviously nerfed from what it's supposed to be, If everything was hunky dory then no bullet should've hurt him the way they did and not a single normal ass marine should be standing since his advanced CoC would've completely wiped the majority of people there. luffy would completely dog on that akainu easy.

@@alimo3011 That’s the same argument that people use to rank Akainu into their top 5. It’s already been proven that in an actual fight he can barely win against Aokiji (10 day fight). Not to mention that going by One Piece logic, Akainu had the advantage over Aokiji in terms of DF (Ace completely vaporized his attack; and Magu Magu >>> Mera Mera). If admirals were equals to yonkou they would never allow them to exist. Furthermore, someone as strong as Aokiji wouldn’t be under Black Beard!!!

Gear 5 is not a powerup, Its another trick in his bag, Luffy got stronger when he mastered his conquerer haki though, id put luffy at just above yonko commander level, around Doflamingo He's not beating anyone powerful 1v1(Admiral/Yonko) right now, Tbh Imo I think Oda is rushing it with the bounties. Fans equate high bounty with power but I think their bounties rose mostly due to their increased influence/notoriety from their alliances and beating 2 Yonkos and living to tell about it, and also Luffy devil fruit.
