You can donate raggedy dish towels and bath towels to your local animal shelters. They’re always needing those. I’ll be doing that and going through my spice cabinet. 🙂
I thoroughly enjoyed your content. Your honesty is appreciated. I am 68, and much of what you say is so applicable and real to my life, especially the clothes that no longer fit and the bodies we no longer have. Thank you. Look forward to more of your content.
love your channel! If i may add just a few suggestions, our local police precincts have collection bins for old and expired prescriptions . and some Drs without borders will take unused medications, and womens and homeless shelters will take shampoo, conditioner for residents .
I did a HUGE declutter/reset the last few weeks. I wanted to start the new year fresh - just got a few small areas to go over. One major thing I did was purge my spice cabinet… many I bought five years ago when I moved here. I chucked it all and started back fresh. Plus I cut down on what I replaced. Just kept with the bare basics. I’m right there with you on the decluttering! 🙌🏻
Hmmmm. Cat litter is a new one to me. I have seen drugs disposed of by putting them in a Baggie and pouring dishwashing liquid on them. I did do a quick check and you are right. Some drugs can be flushed and some cannot. I'll post a comment about this.
I can't wait to go through my entire house again and declutter more. I have to wait until my grandkids go back to school because they are here daily until school starts. It's all I can do to keep up with the basic cleaning right now.
It's good you have such a program. And you are right about the flushing...some can be flushed and some cannot. I'll have to make a correction in the comments.
Finally catching up on you Mrs Denise, I realized for some reason I was unsubscribed to new videos and I don't even remember doing that. I checked my notification bell. Hmm. Its always a pleasure to watch your videos. You are the first word in homemaking to me hands down. Young homemaker here im 34 and absorb your words like a SPONGE when I watch you! Decluttering now. Donating allot of Xmas. Even though I like the item, I make sure it has to have a purpose or a plan to keep it. My new resolution for this year, is taking it easy around the home. I think you're the one who actually taught me, that home work is never done so allot time where it needs to be alotted. I get very uptight about wanting the tasks done now, and perfect so I don't have to redo it. But I'm changing to a less anal attitude. Thank you mrs Denise for your great videos and lessons. These videos will remain for ever for us young homemakers to refer back to. Thank you
This is a great way to start the year. I'm going to definitely hit the spice cabinet today. I see the comment someone left about disposing of medications in cat litter. There are things like batteries and electronics that you're not supposed to just throw in the trash. Papers that should be shredded instead of just discarded. Maybe there's a video in this for a future---disposing of things that you shouldn't just throw in the trash? Thanks Denise.
Donated a few things and felt less weighed down. Whew ! Bedspread ( new) but the bright colors didn't promote rest. You are organized and realistic. Thank you.
Thanks for the new year's inspiration! I did the bathroom clean-out last Jan. 1, and I threw away so much! I also realized how many duplicates I had -- I would get halfway through something and buy a replacement and then start using the replacement. Once I knew what I had, it was a start for a no-spend or less-spend 2024!
It's so satisfying to throw away things and realize how much you've been duplicating, isn't it? I’m on a mission to declutter this year. I can do with less! A no-spend January sounds good. Are you trying this for 2025?
I'll add to please don't flush meds. My pharmacy has a place to drop off unused prescribed meds so that they don't go into sewer. We have a septic tank, but I still take unused to pharmacy for drop off. I saw some things in video I need to get rid of. Thanks!
This is great Denise! I plan on continuing in my den ….. I started a couple months ago before the holidays and now I need to recommit to decluttering the rest! Happy New Year!!! 🎉🥳💓
You are going to love getting back to that decluttering project, it's so satisfying. I started working in my home office while I was watching Tra Michelle declutter. I've just got so much stuff. So...I'm going to really clear out the office. I'd like to get it repainted and just different. Then, I'll think about the next project. Thank you so much for watching.
@ yes I love to declutter! It’s just finding the time….so I do little chunks here and there… I’m glad you mentioned her channel I want to check her out…. I couldn’t find it in the show notes when you mentioned her… I think in a live. You’re welcome! 💓💓💓
Ms. Denise ....would you consider selling me the peach color scarf? I am willng to pay you for the shipping and packaging .I LOVE it and I wear scarfs everyday.
Love all the ideas, but.....NO! do not flush medications. You can get packets from the pharmacy to put in the bottles with water that solidify then dispose in trash.
I work in a pharmacy please don't put the drugs down the toilet or drain. There are places like your pharmacy are police station will take expired drugs. 😊
We can't flush meds down the toilet! We return to the pharmacy for disposal. Sooke BC canada. Great to decluttter. You've motivated me ❤

I literally chuckled during the entire video because I could relate! I actually declutterred a lot of those things a couple of months ago.

You are a Gracious Lady. All the best to you.@homemakingwithdenise
Here in Brazoria County, TX, I take my expired medicine to the local police department!! 😉😉
Thank you Denise you have inspired me to declutter😂
What 25 things are you decluttering in 2025? Tell me in the comments. And if you're just getting started, tell me that too!
Loving this topic.❤

@@homemakingwithdenise yes! I am trying to downsize and also get the most from what I do spend on, so less/no food waste, etc.

You shouldn’t flush medication. There should be a drop off place in your area, or check with your doctor office or pharmacy.
I'm glad you said that! I'll make a correction in the comments.
