Nice vid. I also own an Eipper Quicksilver weight shift , an MX and N-3 Pup. I can't understand why you are afraid to gain altitude. Altitude is your friend. The higher you are the more time you have to recover and find a place to land if the engine quits. If your engine had died as low as you was flying you would have instantly dropped in without warning or time to prepare for impact and that could be worse than losing power at altitude. You never practiced stall recoveries or emergency landings? That's very important. The good thing is you was flying mostly over corn fields where if you went in it may not have been fatal, but where I live there is everything from woods, houses, power lines, fences. hedges, burrows, etc. There is no way you can fly low like that where I live without hitting something. We have fields but they are few and far between and not very big. Anyway, wish you'd a shown a shot of your Eipper in the vid that would give people an idea what you was flying. Most have no idea what a Quicksilver weight shift is.
Thanks for your comments. I wish I had never gotten rid of the weight shift - I can't find them anymore. I'm sure you are correct about altitude. I don't like heights, and the thinking was if something happened I could crash land immediately instead of falling from the sky. The worst thing was that I did not have an airspeed indicator, so I had no idea how close I was to stall speed. Ironically, I did eventually crash coming in for a landing. I came in too low and crashed in the corn 20 ft from the runway. I was a little sore afterward, but not injured. Back then I could not readily find parts to repair the bent structure, so I traded it for a motorcycle. Big mistake. I've been looking for one recently, but can't find one. I'd like to get back into flying, but my family is so unsupportive that I can't without a lot of headache :( .
