In this video over voltage protection circuit simulation explains.
The selection of the pass transistor Q1 is important based on the load requirement.

Thanks for your detail mention and let me learn more how to use ltspice.
Glad it was helpful!
Very good video; i have one question: the circuit will cut the voltage in more or less 50 u seconds (from 12V to 1 V). How we can cut the voltage fasten, ex. in 4 useconds?
Hi...Thanks for your question...you can use comparator based circuit...faster opamp will do the job for you. Incase of short circuit even usually comparator based designed are preferred.
How are the resistor values selected?
Hi. Do you want to to know about any specific resistor. Generally if you know your current flowing through branches and voltage at node ....you can find the resistor.
@ElectronicsCircuitHubECH do the resistor selections impact the current received at the load when in the nominal range? Is there an optimal set of resistors to supply a 5v load at 500mA?
Thank you in advance!
Hello, what do we need to do to increase the overvoltage value to 17 volts?
use a 16v zener
Could u change the zener with tl431 and simulate sir? Thank you very much
noted your comment, thanks !
what if i use 2 NPN bjt? could you design it. thanks
Let me try...Thanks
how the current flows draw the diagram, without that it is not helping\
Thanks for your input...I will take it up.
