I've been trying for 3 days to get the 50mm 1.4 back together. It just wont drop all the way down or rotate all the way to the red dots no matter what i do
took 30 minutes and its done ... my fd 50 1,4 was simular enough thank you and just for those about to do it greese the aperture ring mine was scraping and not moving fluidly so i had to do it twice.
Does anyone know what it means when the ring moves on its own after it is declicked? I go to set it and it moves after. I read it could be a spring inside that is moving it.
Thanks for the video. After following these steps, the aperture ring isn’t working when I attach it to my FD-EF adapter. Perhaps I’m missing something? The aperture looks wide open, but stays there when I turn the aperture ring. Do you have any insight on that?
This is normal for fd lens, there are two aperture control modes. Depress 2 tiny levers in the mount (kinda look like a flat screwdriwer tip looking at you) and while pressing them, turn the inside of the mount. You can find the instructions on youtube
Q : If I declick can I still use the open/close feature on the adapter? For example, I'm at F8 and I focus at full aperture (open), then turn the adapter to close at F8.
I have one question, Does that aperture ring blades rotate without the adapter? My aperture ring just rotates around but the blades don’t move (without an Adapter)
I've attempted this with a 28mm f/2.8 and a 100-300mm f/5.6 (to ensure I'm not missing something), and they both won't lock into place on my FD to E-Mount adapter. I've spent 4 hours trying every possible possibility, but no dice. Can anyone help? Thank you in advance!
Have you done this with a canon 35-105 nFD? I'm trying it but I'm having a lot of trouble reattaching the apeture control piece. Just wondering if you had any insight!
www.amazon.com/dp/B0001X0SK8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fab_t3BBFbJ2YGP8E this is the recommended set of screwdrivers for this job. You'll want to use a 2.5mm screwdriver
I just did this to the 50mm 1.4 FDn! It wasn’t the first lens I de-clicked but certainly the most difficult. Thanks a lot for the guidance!

Glad you saved a lens! What grease did you use on your lens?
@@dln.camera5524 a thick silicon based grease i usually use for old cameras but now lenses too. And thank you for the video.
Great video.
I've got a FN 50mm 1.8 that I might try this with.
Thanks
Thank you!! I'm glad you found the video useful! Let me know how it goes if you end up doing it!
Would you make a video for FD SSC breach lock mount? Thank you!
definitely stripped the last screw I had to take off lol. It was fun while it lasted.
nice mate, should we use some grease for smoother de-clicked?

Do you find a solution for this? My 17mm FD is suffering the same exact issue

Does this work on any lens that has an FD mount? I have a 28mm f2.5 vivitar And I was looking to de-click it

Just declicked mine and this still works :)
Such a fun way to fuck up a lens! I'm not even complaining, it really was fun... Oh, well, onto Ebay we go.
Definitely a fun experience! I'm definitely looking into more lenses I get to declick.

Hello! Yes, you'll need the adapter to be able to move the aperture. Or if you have the SLD body you can attach it and test it that way.
@@dln.camera5524 oh that’s the case then I’ll order one ASAP :) thanks buddy
Of course! What camera are you using these lenses with?

Hey sorry I haven't actually tried working on that lens. I'll see if I can find any useful information and send it to you.
Works for nFD 135mm f2.8
Do you know how to do it with FD lenses? cheers
What is size of phillips Screwdriver?
You'll want to use Japanese industry standard (JIS) screwdrivers so you won't strip the screw on the lens.
