Grew up in Pittsburgh. Remember as a kid my parents would load us up in the station wagon after Sunday dinner and head to the local Isaly's to get skyscraper ice cream cones.....they were 20-25 cents back then in the early 60's. Remember my mother told me and my two brothers we would have to eat all our vegetables or no Isaly's that night.

My mom worked at the Isaly's in West View, PA. Loved their Chipped Ham. I delivered the Pittsburgh Press newspaper. My route went by that Isaly's in West View. The owner demanded in the winter I stop in for free hot cocoa. How could I refuse?

The West View Isaly's was really good. I worked for Isaly's too when I was younger. In the 1970's I had a different job and ate lunch almost every day at the West View Isaly's.

I knew I was not cracking up , Look at the size of the Candy Bars at 1:15 in the video ! , I always bragged that you could buy a Candy bar for 5 cents and it was big !

I have very fond memories of the Islay's in Warren Ohio with my grandfather. I even have a plate from the restaurant from when they closed their doors. Lots of warm fuzzy feelings.

I remember a store in northwest PA. They used to pack ice cream and place them in those folding paper boxes usually associated with chinese takeout food.

My family's from Pittsburgh and thereabouts, so I knew Isaly's but only as an ice cream establishment. What was wrong about the land for making cheese?

@@hugh2hoob668 I tried looking it up. It's nothing more than Coke and Hershey's chocolate syrup mixed together with whipped cream on top served in a milkshake glass. Sounds great. May have varied from store to store as to if they even made them. I don't remember them. But it doesn't mean the particular Isaly's next to me didn't serve them. Now ham bbq's are different. I ate so many of them I bled bbq sauce.
