- Another part of the documentary which looks at the kings of country. This is quite short, but if you are interested in Hank then check out my upload of the Hank Williams Story, which is in five parts.
corporalhenshaw offers the best of country, blues, jazz, rock and gospel Check him out!
When the wind is right, you'll hear his songs, smell Whiskey in the air. RIP Hank. The man who changed music forever.
Ray Whitt it's midnight in Montgomery. He's always singing there......chilling.
Ol' Hank's always singin' there...
Hank could never look bad to me, Hank best singer ever was, he hurt deep inside with a whole different hurt , not really pain but hurt, there's a difference. Best singer on earth.
Pain and hurt are different? 🤔 ya know , I never thought of it but …I think you are right
I’ve said it for years , he’s the king of rock n roll and country
So much heartache, he was only 29 when he died, DANG!!!
The greatest country singer ever Rip Hank Williams
no matter how i struggle and strive, i'll never get outta this world alive
Pure talent!!!
My fishin’ pole’s broke, the creek is full of sand
My woman run away with another man
No matter how I struggle and strive
I’ll never get out of this world alive
Precursor to Jim Morrison’s five to one
KING HANK!
(Hank 3 broke the mold in the best way possible) ❌
They are my lifes blood..i see you too brother. 👊
Hot damn, Hank III is a spitting image of Hank Sr.
A gift to the world. Thank you sir
Hank Williams and Layne Staley wow the similarity just different decades.
Hey I'm a huge hank 1,2 and 3..grew up on jr....but I know more about Layne than most..from AIC to to Mad season...The music's beyond phenomenal and for some very personal...but beyond all that what similarities do you...I'll add talent..but not quite sure other than a few minor things..but I don't everything about Hank(the basics)
Layne I know too much about...anyway don't mean to sound argumentative ..just curious
@@jonstrausbaugh9147 if you'll look into seniors background Hank one the similarities of self-destruction in there lives. Waisted talent. And overdose. Hank two is a survivor of that life style but he to had an accident that almost killed him and actually probably saved his life in the end.
Hank 3 is so freaking good...
7:42 Hank III dropping the truth.
Best country artist of all time and if you think about it he was just a kid unbelievable
He have a vorice out this word I was born in 1961 I ♥️all his songs I could not believe he died he had a voice and songs out this word I ♥️ him every seens I was a child and guss what I love his music today
They should have gotten Hank III to play him in the movie.
That would've been awesome
Right?? Damn if he doesn't look just like his Granddad!
@@chriscarter6481 sounds a lot like him also
@@Zionsol777 sound like him ,looks like him but handle has his own style
Absolutely
Hank, the original "Outlaw", known as the "which of which there is no whicher"
what a great video I am glad I watched this, thank you for the upload!
Hank is the king
I love Hank Sr., Jr. ,and the 3rd
I never heard a bad Hank Sr song either ❤ Hank III spitting image.
"Long Gone Lonesome Blues"
3:41 Pop superstar my ass! He was and is a Country/Western music superstar!!!
But that's what the popular music of the day was. Johnny Cash hosted 2 different tv shows. That's pop culture to me. The shame is that we allowed "diversity" to change the culture.
He was POPULAR dipshit
Do you know what pop stands for? Or what was considered pop back then?
Hank transcended country just like Bob Marley transcended reggae. He was and still is much more than just a country/western singer
Never knew any of this. Thanks for sharing
Hank had Spina Bifida. Chronic pain is no laughing matter.
Hiram will always be the King!!!
shelton>hiram
feiner6996
feiner69 living with misdiagnosed/undiagnosed spina bifida is living hell
feiner69 You’re dead on people always down play pain that was the big reason why he drank then it became a habit. I think the Grand ole o prey was being more for the money than careing about his health. Yes he was unpredictable. But he had surgery and they wanted him back Now Satan always attacks when your down. Doctors and my work don’t care I broke my neck twice and have extremely bad insomnia they cut my meds by 90” percent and are still taking more away. I think I’ll have to grab a bottle of Jack and 3 cases of beer like I use to just to kill the pain and sleep. Like Hank they don’t care. God Bless you my friend
Fuck yeah, Hank was one of a kind.We all get a taste for the bottle, how else can you make it through the day-to-day?
I think what Hank would've wanted the most was to gather around with some friends and family and sing some songs with them.
Long live the country king
this was great thanks !!
Great little video by the BBC.
bbc brodcast from uk london
*Legend.*
Hank III sounds just like him
who would have thought hank's grandson would be a GG Allin fan.
Herald Of Nurgle it makes alot of sense actually gg allin was a huge Hank sr fan
he's no senior names don't count actions do
What the fuck is that supposed to mean, Berry May?
Berry May bend over berry and let someone drive you home I think your drunk.
Wtf are you even talking about? Your not only kind of a dick your apparently ignorant as well
GG Allin worshipped Hank
Hank 3 looks like his grandpa
Merle ain't here no more either
You mean "ain't not here no more neither"
GET YOUR COUNTRY TALK RIGHT.
Hank played with gg allin, jesco white and assjack rocks. The grand old opry ain’t so grand anymore. Pop country really sucks. Even when doing “country” he’s always got that punk rebel feel. Love hank 3. The country rebel spirit lives and its as punk as any nyhc
Well put brotha. I was amazed the first time I hear Hank 3, and could heard those hxc roots in PFF
hank III is the rebirth of his grandpa.
My whole family, 2 generations ago all played barn dance's in Oklahoma, I wish I didn't ruin my grandmas banjo and mandolin when I was a child.
Hank Sr was as much blues as he was country. He learned about music from a black man named Tee Tot so that was his first musical influence. The Drifting Cowboy Band was the first country band to play with amplifiers so some say they set the stage for rock and roll. None other than Keith Richards says that Sr. was the first rock n roller the world ever saw because of the way he lived...music, guns, womanizing, drinking and drugging. One things for certain he changed music and wrote songs that are timeless.
Best they ever was that's a fact
Who wants the title of king. King of country, King of bluegrass, King of rock, and even King of pop, died early. Why this common factor?
Lori knows what it's like to walk in Audrey's shoes...
Hank is my cousin!
Hank 3 is the bollox
howdy from Plymouth England
Wales kick englands ass! All day partner! ... wales are the bollox! ❌
Greatest
When was this originally released (I mean on BBCFour).
jack white- my bae and hank 3 aint so bad looking either
Harlie Quinn bae is Danish for shit
lotsa people say Bob Dylan changed music, but I guarantee ,Hank changed Bob........jus sayin
Lol bob dylan is from my home state and no one ever talks about him 😂😂😂😂
Bob Dylan , Elvis & all the rest are in the audience watching the King do his thing !
I understand that Hank died in a car not terribly far from here. I'm a big fan of Hank The IIIrd!
THE BIG DAWG!!!!!!!!!
Its rumored that i have family ties with the "Williams" Hank Williams Sr and Hank Jr. As my granpops is a Williams out of Clanton, Alabama. Not far from Montgomery
I sure hate that hank passed so young
Hank was actually also Choctaw Indian almost half white and half Native American; but the established country music establishment being prejudice really toned down his heritage and made; it sound like he was Lilly white and nothing else.
Yea well, this is what happens when for the past two hundred years you've been afraid of your own colour. Time to move it on over bubba.
VAMPIRELIBBY HODGES fucking always one gotta ruin something
VAMPIRELIBBY HODGES i doubt they know
You do realize that the founders of the Grand Ole Opry were black?
Austen Stokes seems like your bigot ass is the one who cant help themselves
Wasn't Hank self-medicating for the Spina Bifida? It's kinda hard to judge the guy when he was in such agonizing and legitimate pain.
"...live fast, die young, _have a good looking corpse"_ LOLLLL
NOBODY gets outta this world alive!! FUCK!!
Mason Ramsey is the Country Prince
People cough hard core when there dying of anything hank 3.
0:32 I forgot how good Norah Jones was at taking ANY song and making it unbearably dull.😴😴😴 Like, no matter HOW great a song was, she could make it boring as fuck. It was really her main talent.
Yall wanna act like he was Michael Jackson lol pop?? Hell know no he was a real man you can only find in the Appalachians..he died in west Virginia this man was unbelievable
Every genre of music should pay homage and respect to this man.
Without a doubt
What exactly has hank 3 done. Thank his Granddad
@@rowdyyates724 listen here chicken. You want some lime light in your ears, go somewheres else.
not 1952.
he died in 1953.
i was 8 days old.
spent my whole life in love with a dead man.
Shirley Ford no one knows when he died cuz he could have died before or After Midnight of the new year
Shirley Ford I spent my whole dead inlove with a life man
Whether it was December thirty one or January one, I’m in the same boat. I was born in late February of nineteen and eighty nine and have been obsessed since I first heard that “euphorically melancholy, (if that makes any sense)” universally familiar, and beautifully haunting voice. I feel like you “can’t not” love Hank.
Shirley Ford damn that's sad girl!
Shirley Ford he did die in 52...it was not reported until Jan. 53...i was there
never heard a bad Hank Williams song.
Cuz there ain't none!!!
Only hundreds and hundreds HE NEVER SANG!!
My dad saw Hank at the Rio Palm Isle, Longview in 40's, I saw Jr. Tyler in 80's, now my son needs/wants to see III like a Family Tradition.
That's awesome . Elvis played the Rio in Longview too. I saw Hank 3 in Tyler about 10 or so years ago .
I saw hank 3 back in 09 and still one of the best shows I ever been to
Well, Hank IV exists now, now, so now he now he has someone else to look forward to.😍😍 Sadly, it appears Hank III is retired.
@@MsAggie78 No hes not
@@synysterguitar63 He hasn't been active for six years, with no indication of coming back.😢😢
Hank Williams Seniors music will live forever as long as there are folks who like good songs about everyday life RIP Hank (1923-1953).
He still lives every time we play his songs they say u die twice once when the soul leaves the body and again when someone says your name for the last time as long as I live hank will too
Bill Davison Wise words pal, like wise.
Yes wise words
Wulf Skal Amen brother.
Beautifully said. Hank Williams is, and forever will be, immortal.
He was handsome like his father, his mother’s resemblance around the eyes. His two grandsons look a lot like him. Hank III can sing like him. Kudos to Jr for making his own way bc it’s never easy being a performer and a child of a legend.
Even Hank's most popular mass appeal, bubble gum songs are so much more visceral and real than any country song played on the radio in the last 20+ years.
Went on vacation to Nashville a few years ago and to my surprise the biggest attraction/star in Nashville was hank sr. Yes hank sr. Every shop you go in. Every store. Every museum. Everywhere you go its hank. Over 60 years after his death he still the biggest star in Nashville. Don't believe go there and see yourself.
It's sad how the country music machine will use his name now that he's gone, it's kind of fucked. The machine will do the exact same thing to Hank III. Mark my word. When Hank III is gone and country music has to evolve because of the "watered down bullshit" they will use III's music to sell country music. Hank III is so talented and probably one of the best song writers ever and barely anybody is celebrating that right now. III is a bonfire legend and has been since the 90s.
Hank 3 is what the Williams really are just ask his dad why hes being repressed now
A real hell raiser . Mr Williams paved the way for all types of musical artists.
I'm a rolling stone
All alone and lost
For a life of sin
I have paid the cost
When I pass by
All the people say
There goes another guy
Down the Lost Highway
Just a deck of cards
And a jug of wine
And a woman's lies
Makes a life like mine
For the day we met
I went astray
Started rollin' down
That Lost Highway
Tom Petty turned me on to that song.
#bobperator
I really appreciate Johnny Hortons version of this song, as you know he married Hank's widow Billy Jean Horton and the last I heard she was alive but in a nursing home and not in the best of health!!!!!
He was a master of lyrics and rhythm, very hypnotic music.
This video never gets old.
Great music and great tales.
hands down the best country artist of all time and one of the best musicians EVER. Glad his grandson is keeping his legacy (and REAL country music) alive. much love.
wesley gray Like Bocephus isn't?
umm, think you're forgetting about keith whitley there son! and as far as instruments hank jr can play 28 not just an acoustic guitar
Jesus Christ! This guy was just Latin a little respect to Hank 3 and you guys start in with comments that have nothing to son with his comment lol. Comprehension isn't for everyone I suppose.
@Jerry LeeLewis it's not about the talent. It never was.
@@danielsmit11 Keith Whitley?? Hahaha GTFO
When I first saw Hank Jr Jr... I thought I was starring at Hank the 1st! 😳
Yes. Minnie Pearl told Hank III he was a ghost.
Fluffy_ Kinz: a newer, country-punk-rock version.
@@xenoscoot I woonder if that's what inspired him to write Ghost to a Ghost...

Hank III just called his grandma a hot firecracker
Hank 3 is the best hank in my opinion
Keep it in the family
@@GuyFromTheSouth very subjective but I personally agree
Hank died on New Years Day 1953, and I'll Never Get Out Of This World Alive was only recently released at the time. It reached #1 after his death.
Best ever. No one will ever come close. Closest we’ll ever have is his grandson.
I can not picture anyone as cool as Hank Williams, man his clothes is gorgeously amazingly super star , he meant business... he meant show business.... legendary so cool, those white cowboy boots and suit at 4:23.... man before Elvis , ZZTop ... how many decades gone ... still the coolest to me !
Hey love all hank Williams sr.s faimly
What a amazing story ....I was fortunate enough to spend a little time with his grandson....what an amazing person and was such a true entertainer who sounded and looked like his grandfather.....was kind enough to take his time with just me while so many others waited in line to speak to him....was a great experience for me and lord his manager big Al was the most generous and a ball of fire.....true high light of my life ...thank you both for an amazing evening.
The king.......
Hank was THE King of Country Music. Hank’s song will be around 500 years from now.
You have to love the fracking accent on the narrator of this documentary.
Oh my stars his Grandson looks just like him!
Not really
Also resembles him with his voice
@JASON VOORHEES are you blind nothing alike besides a couple things
Hanks grandson...hell that's Hank ,same body looks I'm Amazed 🥰⚡⚡⚡🔥
I love that they got ray price to come out and talk
Only Hank sr can sing his songs no one can cover them as good as he did
Old school country musician's description of music clubs where the club owners/employees "had to sweep up eye-balls in the morning": "Some of them places were rough..." now THAT is OG!!
the Scottish narrator is perfect for this for some wonderful earthy human reason. Bless ya Hank. He goes way back in my life. I was just a wee girl in a dinky podunk southern town. But he was HUGE in the house! ♥
Makes a person wonder about blessings and curses. I think Hank's family was visited by bad fortune as well as the gifts, with his and his offspring's' lives probably the only ones that bear enough evidence.
There's something to be said for 'old souls', which I feel is an accessible way of referring to prodigious traits in people - not merely 'child prodigies' -- who have an otherworldly sense of being.
In a lot of pictures Hank also looked the 'old soul' part. He wasn't even 30 and he often looked like he was over 50. Booze and pills weren't entirely responsible for that.
By the age of 29 I would say that most people have enough 'life experience' to tell some stories, but Hank was in the relative handful of 'old souls' who seem to have a keener familiarity with life's mixed bag. There are 'everyday people' who are cut from similar cloth, but ones like Hank or Elvis were set even further apart with the overall aura of 'self' that fashions a cultural figure.
It's as if some people are just mystically appointed as messengers and minstrels. How do you otherwise explain going from driving a delivery truck to becoming arguably the most important figure in popular music, or having Hank's early six-year run of hits, only to die in the cold back seat of a Cadillac on a road -- literal and figurative -- that most will never travel?
He sung his HEART out with his life and feelings in most of his songs. A country King, His blood line and his immortal music will go on and on!
hank jr. came to Zanesville Ohio and played my step dad cowboy was splaying on guitar underneath bandstand. with him. hank jr. came by where he was said how cowboy said like his daddy, I lived my whole life with hank sr. and country gold songs. it was shock to hear as kid hank jr. speak to my step dad that day in Zanesville Ohio. since then I barely learned few cords and had to sell my guitar for my kid needs, I taught her as much as I could about some people even my step dad.
Hiram hank Williams you will never be forgotten you passed when legacy had just begin rip Hiram hank Williams your the king always n forever will in my book~I'm only sixteen and been listening to his music every since I was 8 years old..
There's a reason this man was known as the "Hillbilly Shakespeare"
Son of a Son . The voice lives .
Hank Williams Is my all time Favorite country music artist and songwriter. He is Amazing and has a great gift. I love all his music ;)
Heather Mollett had and was /:
Wow Heather I say the same thing
Amen to that!
Tony Bennett a bit dramatic
It’s crazy how much Hank III looks like Hank sr.
Artists hope to write/sing 1 or2 iconic songs in a career. Hank wrote a catalogue of gold classics in only 7 years!
When a celebrity actually meant something. Rip hank. Much love.
Nah. Celebrity has always been shit. Hank was just another asshole like you and me.
Hank 3 is the next best thing or better? You decide!
Hank 3 has been, thus far, the best live show I've ever been to. He burned through at least three hours and it seemed like he hardly even slowed down to catch his breath.
True that. 3 does his true country show and then AssJack brings it harder than anyone. I think 3 is the best Williams because he earned it on his own while keeping it real to himself with punk and rock while honoring his grandfather mostly and his dad all in style like no one. If you haven't seen him please go with an open mind and ready for it to elevate 1000% lol
@@dougcoellen7342 As much as I like Hank 3 to say he is the best Williams because he earned on his own well so did his dad. Jr was forced to do Sr act by Audrey and didn't really because Hank Jr until after falling off the mountain. Then what followed was Nashville trying to push him away. I think jr earned it on his own. Now as far 3 goes. His first two or three albums were on curb records and his dad made that possible. So he had a little help along the away and even some from someone he has had issues with.
Hank wrote the best country songs of all time. I love Hank III but he ain’t quite done that yet. Not yet.
I have loved Hank Williams all my life. I have loved Hank3 about 13 years.
They are two sides of the same soul & talent.
