Great photography, Mike. That must have been a busy day for you. It's a tribute to your advance planning, scoping out vantage points and framing ideas. Well done!
Many thanks, Lou! It was very busy but definitely neat to see. Fortunately, I know the line well enough now that I had a good idea of what spots I wanted to try for beforehand!
Awesome to see Amtrak 301 the Day 1 50th anniversary unit leading for the first time. I wonder when that along with the other Siemens ALC-42 Chargers will test run on the Texas Eagle
Another FANTASTIC video Mike!! I'm proud to be a fellow railfan and subscriber! Keep up your excellent work and "I'll see you down the line!"

It was about time the new chargers led a train on their own! I was afraid Amtrak was going to keep a P42 in the consist for like another million years!
Hey man! I just wanted to let you know that you're my favorite railfan I have seen. Your videos are so clean and well put together. They're awesome! Keep up the awesome work bro!
Very fantastic video Mike! I can’t wait to see these Amtrak ALC-42’s in Train Simulator 2022 as a DLC and testing the Auto Train (with two ALC-42s)! These ALC-42’s look very modern! Plus I subscribed to you!
I caught 301 a couple days later. She put on a decent show for a new locomotive. I’m certainly glad the long distance travelers don’t have to be sick before they even board from the looks of the short distance. The long distance versions are things of beauty.
@@TyDeSimone I'm not sure how easy it would be to "Cabbage" a Genesis. Since the whole body is basically a single piece structurally, the conversion might be a bit more complicated compared ti the F40's, who's carbodies have no structural contribution
Awesome catches of the ALCs leading Amtrak Empire Builder #7 to Seattle. I wonder when the ALCs will enter service next on the Amtrak CONO route on Amtrak trains #58 & #59
Thanks. I only hear it in a couple of the distant shots and Carkeek park, but there were other people there too. It's hard to eliminate it completely because the new units are so quiet. Also, there are a couple shots where you can really hear a couple flat spots on the train.
@@CoasterFan2105 That comes out to about a siding every ten miles; the Northern Transcon runs smoothly. They ought to finish double-tracking everything south of Everett in order to increase Cascades service.
@@JuanSanchezGuerra There are only two single track sections south of Everett as far as I know and neither of them are very long. The plan is to add a second track to at least one of them over the next 5 years.
Great scenes, I think 301 wears the Day One scheme very well! Sounds like there's a signature Amtrak flat spot on the train as well.

I love train. Nice video. In my canal i have a lot polish train.
Too bad they aren’t doing all the Chargers in the day one scheme it’s pretty good
It's a sharp scheme!
Great footage, but I find 4 cars to represent the former premier train of the mighty Great Northern disgraceful. Nice engines at least.

Are these units going to be on the east coast trains like the silver star/meteor?
Yes, they will be later this year.
They’re very quiet in operation

I just wish our railroads would electrify, with those grades.

Thanks! Right now, the Acela Express.
Fastest we got is the NEC at max of 150 mph, but only in some areas of the MA and RI portions does it go that speed.

will the ALC-42’s ever come to the northeast? possibly on the Pennsylvanian one day?
Yes, they are supposed to be placed into service on several of the trains out of Washington D.C. later this year.

@@CoasterFan2105 Welp, I know what I'll be planning during the summer!
When will the ALC-42s enter Pacific Surfliner service?
The grade at Trinidad seems extremely steep. Is it actually that steep or is it a product of camera angle?
It's a pretty steep grade, but it looks a little greater than it actually is because of the angle from across the valley and behind the train.
How much double-track is there on the Scenic subdivision?
Mostly single track between Wenatchee and Everett with about a dozen passing sidings. From Everett to Seattle, it's almost all double tracked.
