Your video was made a while ago, but my friend and family just took this exact cruise to Antarctica. This video really enlightened me on what she and the family experienced. Thank you very much for sharing this video. It made me feel like I was right there with them experiencing the same adventure. Thanks again, have a great day and safe travel. 😊
Mike, I just watched this for the second time so I could show my husband. I LOVE what you've done here. This covers all the practical stuff and helps us visualize each aspect of the trip . So helpful! Your honesty is refreshing. You film gray days and sunny days (unlike promotional videos from cruise lines). I'll be watching this repeatedly. Perfect video! Question: How challenging is it to board those kayaks from a ship? I find it tricky enough from dry land!
@deblevine4580 Hey! I'm glad you found this video helpful. The expedition team went lengths to ensure my safety on the waters. Did you book your Antarctica expedition? If so, which Atlas Ocean ship will you be traveling in?
I'm thrilled for you! Yes, the polar plunge is definitely worth it. Your fellow passengers camaraderie and the thrilling, once-in-a-lifetime activity make for an unforgettable experience in Antarctica. Cheers!
Thank you, Rachel and Jeff, for your friendship during our Antarctica 🇦🇶 adventure. Glad you enjoyed the video! Hoping we cross adventure paths again soon.
😱 Did I make it🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉? I'm still on the Cloud 900 from this trip. From my landing in Argentina 🇦🇷 to enjoying Ushuaia and then embarking on my 10-day luxury cruise. I went on the Mellgan Explorer
I would like to travel to antartica this way you did. I'm from India. Actually I'm going to Antartica with a group next month 29th (January 2004) but again I want to go alone .Actually we don't go to shore or walk along the antartica. I want to reach there
Thanks! I am glad you enjoyed the video and hope you found it helpful. Regarding flying drones, according to the IAATO (international Antarctic Association of Tour Operators), flying recreational drones in the Antarctic is not allowed unless with a permit. This policy was enforced throughout my time on the ship. Being unable to fly my drone in Antarctica was a missed opportunity for me, too, but still an incredible experience nonetheless. I haven't researched the process of obtaining a permit, but it is a task for me to look into.
@@MIKEONTHEMOVE thanks for replying, Mike. How did you pay for the trip? How much was the downpayment? Was there an installment option? Thanks once again and more power to your channel!
Hey! Are you going to Antarctica soon? Atlas Ocean Voyages provided big, thick parka jackets but no gloves. Snow boots were provided for landing expeditions. I recommend you bring thermal clothes for your outings in Antarctica.
Hi Mike! My husband and I are considering the same trip as you did. Can I ask who you booked your trip with? Seems I can't book a trip directly with Atlas but have to go through a travel agent. Thanks!
Hi! Thanks for your comment and question. I booked directly with Atlas Ocean Voyages via their customer service line. They are a new and small cruise company offering some fantastic deals. When are you planning to visit Antarctica? I’m planning to return in 2025.
Awesome video.. How much did your trip cost? Did you get any discounts or on board credits? My hubby and I are tentatively booked on an 11 night trip in Jan 9th for about $23k...for a horizon cabin. Do you get any discounts for future cruises after your first one? Any codes they tell you to share with others? 😉. If you're coming back in 2025, come join us on this longer 11 night cruise 😊
Hey! Thanks for your comment and question. I booked directly with Atlas Ocean Voyages and received the “second guest sails free” deal. For a 9-day itinerary in January (peak season), I paid nearly 11k for two people in a B1 Veranda room. I’m planning to revisit again in 2025; what month are you planning for in 2025?
@@MIKEONTHEMOVEhi! Your vid is super helpful and we are looking at the same itinerary from the same cruise company. I saw that you booked via the phone. Is the same deal happening every year where second person sails free? If so, can you provide the link? Thank you!

Sailed with them on the Navigator’s maiden voyage to Antarctica in 2021. I’m sure all the kinks are worked out by now. The best was the round trip from Orlando on an A330 to Ushuaia. Not more than 150 on a plane that can carry three hundred. Sailed on Atlas several times since then. Member of the yacht club!
Great video. My question is once you payed for the trip was everything included in that price. What stuff did you have to pay extra ? I see next year they same ship is 6,000 per person for 11 nights. How much more do you think I’d spend ?
In your video I understand that the parka is ours to keep and we can use and return the binoculars - are the muck boots free to use and return or do we have to rent them from you? If rent then how much?
👋 The boots and all gear needed to participate safely in outdoor activities are included. Besides the zodiac and landings, all other activities (kayaking, camping overnight) are an additional cost to the room fare.

Great video. Thanks for sharing your experience. Here's hoping for calmer seas on my voyage in January!

Thanks for posting as I am heading on this same trip over Christmas this year with a different cruise line. I cannot wait!

Nice video
I'm going in a few weeks. I'm so excited! This has me pumped! Was the polar plunge worth it??? I'm undecided...

It would be really helpful if you quoted temperatures in Celsius as that is what most of the world are familiar with!
@@derekalgate6855 The water temps were between 0 to -1 degrees Celsius. Hope this is helpful for you. Safe travels.
Thanks but i was more interested in the air temperatures you referred to in degrees Fahrenheit
We are headed that way in February
I'm there God willing March 2024🎉🎉🎉

Looks amazing! Im taking the same trip in november, im combining it with a trip to patagonia.
May I ask who you had booked your trip with, what travel agency or is it directly with Atlas?
@@hopeescueta4438 I am a TA and experienced with Atlas if you have questions. And in fact, I will be on this exact cruise in January 2024!

Did they supply gloves as well? Is it best to invest our own gloves🧤 foot & hand liner? And thermal wear 😊

Polar bears are only found in the northern hemisphere
They don't exist in Antarctica...only the Arctic.
