I'm just gonna take a leap here and say that they win the contest and everyone is so astounded by the fact that they have incorporated hip hop and classical dance, they all live happily ever after
All these hate comments. Ya maybe they have some stereotypes but if you have a passion for music, dancing, or any type of art, you would understand and appreciate this movie. I watched the movie and it was amazing, it inspired me to get better at violin and it will inspire many others to follow their dreams.
U don't have to be a violinist neither a dancer to understand the movie , idk what were the hate comments about , some blonde, white blah blah.... "He didn't fit in because he didn't know how to play the violin", what nonsense.... his acting was brilliant and that's what matters
+Jessy B She dances quite good. But ballet is an extremely strict form of dance and the girl is probably one of those 'rebellious dancers' who preferred to do her own thing. The part about her being white, blonde and skinny.Well, being skinny doesn't always help with dancing, ballet dancers are not skinny but they have some lean muscle that helps with dance
Arabella Tan not really, I can just spoil the story its about this kid needing a visa to stay in America so he enters a competition and wins by incorporating classical music, hip hop and ballet over the other contestants less creative performances
The beautiful, blonde ballerina who, didn't fit in...and the model-perfect violinist with a very posh accent who didn't belong.... I DON'T BELIEVE YOU!
Maureen Henning I'm really late but this trailer does not do the from justice. It's really good and they don't just enter the competition for the fun of it...
guys don't let the trailer fool you.. this movie was sooo great! im not a dancer or a musician, but i know arts, and this movie definitely showcased great performance.
This film is an elevation of the formula: two gorgeous misfits finding their place, finding each other, bickering, then coming together for the big finale. This is different: it's connected, the dance and music sequences that emerge from nowhere manage to connect with the story and main thread. There is a lot of music and many dance sequences, they're top-notch and the film moves along quickly. The finale number makes sense, has the expected tension and predictable ending; but it's a gorgeous number and is very moving. Don't worry about the Jane Seymour reference, she has a tiny part. The leads are the real stars. Gorgeous Nicholas Galatzine, who was an awkward nerd just a couple of years ago in THE BEAT BENEATH MY FEET, has blossomed into a beauty and grown into those luscious lips. The trials of his character Johnnie are realistic and strongly tie back to the character. Keenan Kampa is a ballet dancer from Michigan, there is no dance double. She's also a fine actor and turns in a very strong performance. There are many bits of predictable drama and resolution, but the strength of the storyline and central actors overcomes objections. Best of all, this film knows where and how to end: now extended coda, it strikes a high note, resolves and is out.
Don’t judge the movie before you watch it. The final performance is the best I’ve ever seen in a movie, and it is not a stereotypical cliché whatsoever!! Go watch it rn and tell me how much you loved it! It’s an excellent 10000/10 movie for me🥰
Don't let the trailer (which is not so great) fool you. This is one of the most amazing movies I've ever seen. The actors, the beautiful music, more than amazing dancing...This is not just an ordinary movie. Watch it, you will not regret it.
@@juliet1309 I'd say watch Center Stage. Came out 6 years before Step Up and holy hell. The ballet dancers in it are phenomenal. Plus Zoe Saldana is in it.
Just finished this movie and I can honestly say that it was a very beautiful film. There were cliches but honestly think it worked for the story line. Definitely check it out!
I enjoyed this movie. Not an expert critic but the dance scenes were awesome and the lead characters had great chemistry without taking their clothes off. That's art!
I dont care how many times they do this. I just love these films. I am always up for good music, a great chemistry and great dancing. I say I love. I loved this and I loved these movies since I know center stage.
This is one of the best movie I've ever seen. Not only bcz of the beautiful dances and the great classical music but it's also the love line that goes so smoothly but heartening n so sweet :)
So this movie is just like every dance movie you see... learning a style of dance you’ve never done before with the guy you fell in love with.. how original. Randomly came across this movie I’ve never even heard of it
The main guy in this film was in a beautiful film called Beat beneath my feet, it's one of my favourite films. I went to see it at berlin film festival and met Nicholas, it's definetely worth taking a look at.
i just watched the movie and... omg it was amazing. tbh the trailer is a little bit misleading on some minor parts. But i can assure you that this is definitely one of the best dance movies out right now. so many feels and the guy who plays jonnie is so hot, im crying
+IDragDeadBodies no it wasn't sarcasm^^ I don't know...just like the classical violin part thrown in and somehow the movie has a different vibe than the usual ones^^ maybe I'm wrong, just my opinion🙈
I saw this movie the summer of 2015 at Texas Ballet Theater’s summer intensive. Ben Stevenson knew Jane Seymour if I remember correctly so like 40 of us got to see it quite a while before it came out😂
*I love the dance montage scene where she gets her own solo with the guy and he watches her through the door. That’s a beautiful scene, especially that jump in slow motion (don’t know what it’s called)*
omg just saw this movie, words can't explain and the end omg amazing replayed the ending twice, all i can say this flim left me without words to explain
going to be honest here~ thank god the dancing in the movie is phenomenal, because the acting made me physically cringe multiple times lol. but i really like how the movie mixed contemporary and classical music and dance, kind of criticizing people who like purely one or the other
This is the type of movie that you watch purely for the dancing because let's face it, the story's going to be exactly the same as every other dance movie.
Secret confession: I love watching dance movies.... even though they're usually pretty lame and all have the same plot elements. One day, I will sit down to casually watch a dance movie, and it will be different from the rest. It will be wonderful and filled with stunning visuals and amazing performances! This will not be that movie. But, I can dream.
so this movie has been on my list for like 2 wks because it had good reviews. I love most things dance or music related... but if someone had LET ME KNOW that IAN o so beautiful EASTWOOD was in out I would have watched it by now!!!
People don't realize how physically taxing ballet is for the body. It's always stretch, push yourself, pull in the opposite direction and a lot of other things.
I know! Im a musician and I have literally never interacted with a dancer for any professional reasons. I only know dancers through high school but not because they were dancers, because they were students at the same school.
This movie got a ridiculous stupid, 100 times told story and still more then 2000 likes. Oh for crying out loud, how many times are we going to keep getting the same old girl who dances meets boy who plays music/dances and falls in love movie?? This mess gets old really quick.
im more impressed that Nicholas Galitzine (Johhny) was able to fake playing the violin that well, I actually thought he was actually playing the violin. As a violinist myself, his hand position was spot on as well as his violin hold and bow hold.
it was because she was like one of those rebellious dancers who preferred to do her own thing rather than conform to the technicalities and rules of ballet. her appearance had nothing to do with it.
I'm just gonna take a leap here and say that they win the contest and everyone is so astounded by the fact that they have incorporated hip hop and classical dance, they all live happily ever after
+Tabby Roberts sounds ground-breaking but I think that might be too extravagant a theory
It's pretty typical for dancing movies
+Tabby Roberts
Watch black swan, there is nothin cliché about it.
@@RNB-xt5cg oh no, black swan is just anti cliche.
that was exactly correct
Yes, because any movie where they show two guys using their expensive violin bows as swords like a couple of six year olds is worth while watching.
btw that was joke I'd rather do math than go watch this movie
+Jehan Shipkolye lmbo
+xition25 Probably a daydream sequence.
That's kind of sad
The movie is actually really beautiful and I personally enjoyed it the ending scene was the best part
This is beautiful. The final dance was breathtaking.
i know right? i'm a dancer and that was soo inspirational
All these hate comments. Ya maybe they have some stereotypes but if you have a passion for music, dancing, or any type of art, you would understand and appreciate this movie. THANK U! Someone who understands!👌🏻
Loved loved the movie. Watched it numerous times.
lol how does bashing your violin aimlessly with your bow and a heavily edited dub inspire violinists in any way
The musicians are hating because the violin acting is so *S A C R E L I G I O U S* It makes them cry. I dont count as a musician cause I'm a violist.
U don't have to be a violinist neither a dancer to understand the movie , idk what were the hate comments about , some blonde, white blah blah.... "He didn't fit in because he didn't know how to play the violin", what nonsense.... his acting was brilliant and that's what matters
"A dancer who didn't fit in" Shes white, blonde, skinny, and she dances good, how exactly did she not fit in thats like the ballerina stereotype
Exactly what i was thinking!
in the movie she doesnt not fit in, like its not in the movie, she not the best dancer but she's not a loser or anything either..
+domino squid So they're just trying to make an underdog story where there is none.
Arabella Tan not really, I can just spoil the story its about this kid needing a visa to stay in America so he enters a competition and wins by incorporating classical music, hip hop and ballet over the other contestants less creative performances

Maureen Henning It's the dumbest movie in history. I can guarantee that without having ever seen it.

IKR?!?! OMG!! Nicky, baby!!😘💔
Did you already watch Royal Blue? And I honestly watched that already years ago. And I think Nicholas also plays his role very good here
"The Idea of you"
Got annoyed because it looked like a StepUp remake but then I heard the violin bass drop at 1:40 and damn
Nothing like step up! Go watch it.. It has soul!
It looks very cheesy, but I guess that what makes me want to see it :D

+Justcallmekayable Fame, Singing in the Rain, Footloose... Shit, any " Behind of Scenes of your typical high school Grease musical / Glee bullshit. "
+IRENE STEWART exactly haha
It may be another dance movie but at least she can dance! Like thats a first for so many movies with classical ballet

that's the only thing holding it together. Much like how the "Step Up" sequels reused the same plots and only improved the dancing.

Yes it is.. Was spellbound till the end.. And nobody seems to get up from their seat after finish
For those of you saying it's like step up it isn't!! It's sooooo good!! Believe me!!
This movie is awesome! I just watched it!
I'm a fan now of Keenan Kampa, she's more than just a dancer..
No, he isn't:(
He isn't but have you heard of Lindsey sterling? Her violin playing is awesome and she mixes it up with other kinds of music and it's super catchy
the person who plays the song at the end of the movie is nathan Lanier the song is called torn
but he's a singer and a guitar player in real life
Evie Angels oh really? sorry! I didn't know.
I am obsessed with this movie and all the dancers in it
Looks very cliche, but some cliches are worth revisiting.
LuKas Kasdan I personally loved it! 😊

the trailer doesn't do it justice! this is an incredible movie!!💕
what's the music in the second half of the trailer??
Einfach nur die pure Gänsehaut bei der Geige

The dance near the end was breathtaking. 😍
August Rush and Step Up had a baby
exactly the comment I wanted to leave lol

This movie got a ridiculous stupid, 100 times told story and still more then 2000 likes. incredibly ?
The only thing stupid is how you think a man turning into a dragon is going to be entertaining
I would watch lol

so if Center Stage, Step Up, and Fame had a love child it would be this movie
all seems to think of step up and center stage, but it was fame that first came to my mind when i saw this.
the flow of the story in this movie is good. ..must watch.. .👏👏👏👏
hahaha drop dead gorgeous people "don´t fit in" right
it was because she was like one of those rebellious dancers who preferred to do her own thing rather than conform to the technicalities and rules of ballet. her appearance had nothing to do with it.
Happy 65th Birthday Jane Seymour
how many movies like Step Up in hollywood ?
That performance in the end, simply CAPTIVATING!
Ill have some wine with that cheese
