I was whistling & suddenly heard another whistle frm outside. Went out to check any new bird has come. Yes there was this little cockatiel sitting!! May be escaped frm cage i think. I was super excited. I placed water n banana. He/she was first scared. I whistled n talked. Later it walked few steps murmuring something then whistled at my side & flew away. I think it expected another bird & disappointed seeing me😙Next day it responded to my whistle frm somewhere. It just stole my heart😘 i never had bird in my life. I wish she come to me🤗

I need help with my cockatiel
I've done research on Budgies for years and I'm learning on Cockatiels now. I'm waiting for everything to be set and ready before I get the bird. Like the cage, once it's fully setup with the right things, once I bird proof my room, once Ive learned everything I need such as food, taming, sickness, moods, and so on.
But I'm confused about something. So Budgies (from my knowledge) need about a week or two alone in the cage to understand the surroundings and you. You could rub your finger on the cage and such so they can get used to you.
But is that the same with cockatiels? If so, how long do I need to wait until they're okay with their surroundings?
What do I do when I first get it?
And how soon should I let it out the cage so it can fly freely in my room?

I think it's something wrong with my bird, love me and do a loot stuff with me but hade to grab one time to get in to cage mad to me 2 days and agresive and attacking my hand and bit pretty hard for no reason. Got it as 35 days old and now 3 months old.
Reason I grabbed and force to cage is that I had to open my window to get fresh air in to my room and it's about 2 degrees celsius outside and wanted to bring my bird to living room for it to keep sleep and not get cold from my room.
Try to be gentle to her but sadly she have been negative.
Allways let it fly around in my room for 5 hours and that day I grabbed was the day I forget to close cage door when she went for food.
I am afraid to let it fly around because it can be sleeping on a corner in my room and I do not want to grab her.
Since she get to my home she have been afraid of everything for no reason even she was trusting me and played with my ears and neck and spending hours on my shoulder she also let me pet her back of head and some more, where I go she follows me on my shoulder at home but now doesn't get close to me.
My hans are pretty big and she fit between my hands without holding her so I do not hurt but got really mad to me and idk what to do.
What I try to stay with my hand with her snack on my hand and still hand feed her and when she have eating up her snack start to attack me again even if I do not move my hand, time will tell.

    Is it normal?

Last but not least, is it okay to keep her alone without having a partner? Or her Mental Health will be affected badly?

Parrots are extremely social birds, including cockatiels. As long as she is tame, getting another one is good. Quarantine them for at least 30 days, then put their cages close together until they start to become used to one another. Slowly introduce them outside the cage, and if they start fighting out them back. Repeat until either it is clear they won’t get along or until they start to get along. Make sure to continuously train your current cockatiel throughout this, though, since birdie friends could either make them more tame or more feral. Hope this helps!
