Have the 63kWh Evolve with the nappa leather. Got it in Jan 2023. Very happy with it. The efficiency isn’t a game changer for us as we don’t do many longer trips, but the spec is excellent, the drive is good and the interior is very nice. The latter was a big thing for me as I wanted something that felt like a 50k car seeing as that’s what we were spending on it. A lot of its competitors were let down in that area I felt. The Ariya though is really, really nice inside.

Have a 63kw Advance model since February 2023. Had an Evolve model ordered but got the Advance model due to a cancellation and with the supply issues in 2023 it was a now or never decision.
Verdict - first EV I've owned and best car I've ever driven. Smooth, quiet on the road, comfortable. Cheaper to run. Estimate my "fuel" cost was havled compared to driving a diesel.
Have heard a few reviewers complain about the screen. Tbh its a non issue. Screen is perfectly functional and clear to read in all conditions.
Ps AC charging is 7.4kw per hour. Not 11kw. Real world conditions for a 63kw battery means 10% an hour on average.
Range - I can do a lot of motorway driving and that means range will be circa 300km. Off motorway and on local and regional roads the range will be approx 330-350 km depending on weather.
In cold weather expect it to be lower.
Would I buy an Ariya again? Yes! Highly recommended.

@tarant315 car will not take 11kw on AC charging. Max is 7kw as i stated and as stated on the spec sheet. Unless you have the 22kw option which is a very limited optional extra on Irish models.

I bought the 63kwh in evolve trim in the middle of January. Really like it. I’ve gone Cork to Dublin twice in 2 months motorway speeds something I never did in my 3 year old 40kwh Leaf.
I use the E step and found it very easy to get used to.
    Definitely recommend it.

I’ve an Evolve 63kWh which in Jan ‘23 was the highest spec. Mixed upholstery - leather / cloth, cooled n heated seats throughout.
Important to note from the review car that kms/kwh usage (23.2 kWh per 100 kms in the review) completely depends on how it’s driven. Lowest range in the 2 winters so far 290 kms at freezing temps, highest last summer 450 kms. Currently 380 kms. Mixed urban/m’way driving. Numbers depends on temp, type of driving, which mode (Eco - coast mode, Standard - some regeneration braking, using E Pedal in traffic or ramps suburbia helps regen and saves braking).
As a range test because I’m a nerd, in a Belfast - Dublin road trip recently - started a 98 mile journey with 93 miles range. Driving at 60 mph in 60 zone, and 63-65 mph in 70 mph zone / on M1 with 130 kph limit. AC on when needed, used Adaptive Cruise Control and Eco mode most of the trip. Went from minus 5 miles range to plus 6 miles on arrival.
Spec and equipment top notch, friend just got a BMW iX3 this week (list price €55k) Ariya has more e.g. electric drivers seat, opening sunroof, boot underfloor storage. If you love a laptop to run the car, like a sterile cabin, by all means get a Tesla, the two are not comparable. Paintwork superb (have Pearl White/Black roof mix), pops when clean (fine in car wash). Ride is great, on all roads, with all the tech available it’s barely driving. Passengers love it. Garage (Windsor Raheny) great to deal with. Nissan warranty fully met for recent book lock part issue, a couple of Nissan updates / faults dealt with satisfactorily.
Best car ever owned (have had 3x top spec Passats since 2016 (including a failed new Plug-In - after 9 weeks, in 2021), then for 18 months a BMW 330e plug-in. Don’t listen to naysayers and try it for yourself. Mid spec of the 3 current models has plenty for you. Only 220 on the road here since launch 8/22, Nissan missed a trick with none available from Feb-Dec 2023, but they’re available now.

Thank you for a follow up review. Follow ups are often missed by channels.
I had a full spec 4WD Ariya on order last year, but cancelled because they could not deliver. What I liked at that spec in order of importance was 4WD, handling, comfort and quality, a reasonable turn of speed, and not too huge an EV. I disliked some of the capacitive buttons, but did not mind the comparatively simple infotainment which is not a priority for me. At the then price it looked better value than the German premium marques I had been used to.
In the UK prices for new and especially used across most brands are falling fast for EVs. They need to. So Nissan following the prices down is welcome. Other bands have also made it especially easy to afford a PCP contract for new EV or PHEV cars, which works for me. For instance Mazda are doing something special for their MX30 and MX30 R EV ranges starting at around £200 per month; and they take the risk on the residual price. So some sense may be coming back into the EV market.

    • @NevoEVReviewIreland
      @NevoEVReviewIreland  2 місяці тому

Some sense for sure. Did you go for an AWD EV in the end or waiting for the market to stabilise?

I chickened out and went for a 4WD PHEV because the public charging network needs a couple more years in my part of the UK on the Welsh borders. I bought a Mazda CX60 and get most of my mileage on electric with a 17kwh battery or to put it another way it is presently at 90mpg lifetime lugging >2 tonnes around. The pure MX30 EV has a 34kwh battery and would do all my mileage under around a 60 mile radius winter or summer. The PHEV could do long distance, double up as a farm vehicle, and lug stuff and animals for my wife. Just a snapshot of one household.

Great second look at the Ariya Derek. I had a look at one in 2022 when they had a few at dealers launch days and i did like it. The efficiency is a little bit on the high side especially for you captain slow 😅 but overall it's a good ev and i and the price adjustment should help sales.

Kona is a smaller car, based on ICE platform and is quite cheaply made. It has no AWD available and lots of other options are not available. Kona is overall a good car but can't be compared to Ariya.

Ugly huge car. Really wanted to like it, but Nissan need to pivot their strategy to smaller more efficient EVs for the European market. They probably thought this would do well in the US, but that market is already saturated with huge cars at lower prices.
