If you actually watched Ui's tape from HS, you would know he gets rid of the ball quickly and accurately. Instead of laughing, you should look at more tape of the kid. This team has nothing to lose trying to play him or zeon for a whole gane each. Its not gonna get worse than what it is rn. This season is lost, and you have to see what you have in the other guys. I hate when ppl say it won't make a difference w out even trying it. Get off your high horse.
I am a Coog and graduated in 1979 with a BS and a MS in 2000. Both sons are Coog Grads too, one son told me absolutely not for DS and let others try, since there are 6 other QBs on the team !
There is no job security when you haven't scored in two weeks. Play Ale, I'm sure if you asked him he could operate in this existing system. If he fails, he fails, he deserves the same opportunity as Zeon and Donovan.
As far as this podcaster goes and as far as some of the commenters on this thread go it's like they almost have never watched football or watched very little of it.. I have watched football since 1969 and I can tell you that Donovan Smith will never be more than mediocre and that would be in a system that is built around him and works well.. unfortunately Willie on the fritz seems to have little idea of how to build a system for Donovan Smith.. however I can see with just a glance that ale is a good quarterback.. and that he works well in the system that wilie on the fritz has built.. it just stuns me that people who would be interested in football, interested enough to make a podcast about it, seem to have so little knowledge of football..
Idk how you can watch this episode and our conversation, that included talking about Ale, and think we believe the system around Smith is good, or that he’s great or whatever.
Smith is not the same player he was before he got injured last season His decision making is questionable, reading defenses is lacking and is interception prone. These are correctable, but his timid play and lack of confidence are preventing him from progressing
I just wanted this entire podcast before commenting. Good morning P. A.! The guy you had on made some good points. while I do not believe that You and Martin was hatin' on Uie Ale it just seems like he's awesome, has potential, but not good idea to play him. I understand what Martin has explained however, Uie should still be in the mix because of the 3 different quarterbacks UH has. Zeon can be brought along for next year. Caleb is hurt but may be a dark horse also. Donovan is gone next year. IMHO, I think you all and the program are trying to help him save face b/c he wants to play on the next level, was hurt and did not have an offseason. Disagree with me please, but this is MHO and time is running out. DH left a mess; CWF inherited it. So, I feel work all options and with DS, keep him in there bring him along b/c he has honest regressed. I am not a hater to DS b/c I watched his coming up at TT and UH, but he's in a valley right now and just not a Tune or Ward. FWIW, Love my Coogs! Good luck DS! Good luck ZC! Lets go COOGS!
Is Donovan Smith the right guy? The answer is simple. No. If you haven't found the answer in two weeks with the guy at the helm, then he has no business being there. Let one of the other QB's have a chance.
Unfortunately I think he’s the best we got. Would it be crazy to get Chris out there at WR? He is a great runner I just don’t know about the whole passing thing
Mentally and physically too slow to play the QB position! You can never fix a problem that somebody has if that problem is a mental problem, he not only has that problem with his mind, he is also too slow as a runner as well! By the time he sees what the defense is doing they already flatten his ass into the ground already! A 3-time failing QB - failed at Tech, failed with Holgorsen, and failed with Fritz! It is time for this coaching staff to cut their losses and admit they have made a massive mistake investing all of their time, energy, and reputation on this big fat L’er and move on and give the job to somebody else that is more qualified to do the job or go down in flames with his sorry 🫏!
Which coach would be right for a guy that is extremely limited in the talent department? He is a 3-time failing QB - he failed at Tech, failed with Holgorsen, and failed with Fritz! How many times does he need to fail to be considered a failure QB according to you? Maybe you’re bias for him because you’re his gf or something, eh? In that case nobody can convince you the dude simply lacks talent to play at the college level no matter how poorly he plays! Remember, he only came to UH after being demoted to the 3rd string position but due to his large size Holgorsen immediately made him the starter without making him earn the starting role! Now this coaching staff makes the same mistake Horgorsen made and they have the same results he got!
Morning Coog fans!
I wish McMickle wouldn’t have gotten hurt. That injury is bigger than any would’ve thought.

Put... in... Ale!!!!!!
We need more composure and defensive reading at the QB position as well as more unpredictable play calling from the OC

This is my point
He’s not the right type of qb.
Portal till you can get the commit ready for 26.

I am guessing this podcast has more interest in podcasting than he does in football

He might be good enough as a 3rd string QB…. for my son’s recreational team ages 10-12!
Houston has an OC problem. The OC is horrible. He was at Mississippi State and that has not changed. This is a bad hire by Fritz.

Where can we buy hats like that?
Need a QB!

No
Pretty sure it's none of these three, that's for sure.
Right qb wrong coach
