As someone who’s doing a masters degree in musicology, this was difficult to watch - But everyone has to start somewhere and some of the songs actually has some potential with some adjustments
I didn't know appraising the quality of music normatively fell under the domain of musicology; I thought it was just about studying the relationship of music to its wider sociocultural, historical, (etc) environment.
how is this channel so underrated. amazingly edited, animation, very stylized, unique. Everything is just so professional. I was really shocked when I saw your sub count wasnt atleast 100k. Keep up the good work with your vids! I can see you becoming a big youtuber
IDK if you've even changed your style at all but this video has been my favorite of yours from memory. It's still insane to me how much you've improved
Fr i was thinking not some overpowering boss though, but it does sound like it was take place in like a forest. I bet it would sound good in some pixel rpg game
Anyone else has this feeling of "dayum, this guy is gonna make it big" while watching him? Pino, your content is of the highest quality and extremely creative, keep up the good work!
As a musician this is the funniest thing I have ever seen You are genuinely super entertaining Also definitely keep up at music this is actually a great first start I think!
as somebody who does not have a masters degree in musicology and has only been making music for 2 years and never learned music theory or anything i can say w/o a doubt this is what every learning musicer goes through, your first songs are never good but just keep it up and you'll slowly get better... i mean no shit but you know.. stay motivated n stuff youre crazy good at visual art byy the way, i love this style! reminds me of that one guy
as someone who has been producing for quite a while, i must say this is quite a lot more structured and... uh... musical than other "first songs" i've seen. a lot of it is just trial and error, finding out what sounds good, what doesn't, how to structure songs, how to execute a certain idea, stuff like that. would highly recommend lurking around in producer-related discord servers, helped quite me a lot.
For a beginner, your musics are very cool. Don't worry about the music sounding repeating or boring, it's best to start like this so then you get a bigger step on the music composing stair.
something that helped me a lot with understanding composition is by listening to music i like while paying acute attention to every sound that is being played in the measure. usually you pay attention to the main melody, but what do the chords sound like? what does the beat sound like? the bassline? how do all of these different elements complement each other in terms of when they harmonize or what waveform you get when they do? once you start understanding how your favorite music works, you can really start popping off with your own imo.
bruh, im in the same boat as you! I am currently trying to learn music all by myself and I am hoping to make an actual song soon, but I also really wanna find someone to collab with first
The quality of these videos are astronomically-good out of 10. I appreciate all the time an effort you put into your videos, doing the animations, editing, planning, audio, and then the actual content itself. Bravo.
I just got signed to a label as a composer (neo-traditional/traditional/orchestral), I've been composing my whole life, and play classical flute (15 years), this was extremely entertaining! Keep up your hard work, if not music, your story telling is 11/10! with fantastic animations! Very, very well done!
You had some great improvement between songs! IMO as a self-taught musician its really important to listen to music you like and identify the specific parts of it that you like. Then you can imitate those techniques in your own music. It works better for me than learning music theory and all that technical crap!
WOOOOOOW, such a good animation, really well done bro, it´s an awesome style, loved it and thanks. Maaaan this is so good, i loved your jokes, and accent makes it better
Man this video reminded me of when I started. 2 and a half years in and I’m finally starting to consistently make music I like. Music can be super hard to get into but can be super rewarding when you get the hang of it! ❤
Your progress was insane wtf just 3 songs and you made something that a low budget ugandan film would use as its main theme?? Thats one awesome animation style btw
That video was beautiful! The songs weren't that good tbh xd, but they were all pretty nice, considering that you never did anything before, we all start somewhere. If you have fun doing it, just keep doing it, and your stuff will be amazing, sooner than you think! :]
You already know this guy has great taste when Guilty Love from Apollo Justice starts playing at the beginning. And then B-Side Mirror Temple theme later on aswell.
Started learning to make my own music about 1 year ago. I am amazed at how far I have come. Like you I didn't see results until I started with with basic music theory. After that I started learning sound design and mixing.
Very good video like always! The songs were alright (though, mine aren't much better) but the mid-point in song #2 slapped harder than I thought it would lol
My advise is listens to songs you like, if you can sample and isolate the different tracks of those songs and see what makes them tick, then find what aspects of those songs you like and incorporate it into your work.
Hello, Self proclaimed professional video game soundtrack man here. These are thought beginnings but we all have those. Keep at it and you'll start making great songs before you know it.
As a hobby music producer and game dev student, it was fun and hard to watch this video, but i does exatly represent my early beginings in fl studio. the last one does actualy sound quite good. keep add it and learn, the best way to get good is either joining music produceur discords or learn whit YT tutorials of how to do a genre. using fl studio is like video edting but instead of clips you got melodies
I also tried getting into making music, a while back, and as someone who also has 0 music knowledge/experience, i completley understand your struggle 😭. imma stick with editing ☠
As someone who learned to somewhat decently play the piano at 2 years old, i respect my favorite watermelon gamedev artist guy youtuber thing man for doing this (and didn’t we all start off with GarageBand 💀💀💀)
this channel is pure gold, as many people have pointed out, the quality put into this video should be rewarded with far more views, I really like your sense of humor and unique artstyle and I hope more people discover your channel, best of luck! : D
@@PinoPrime i’ve also found just listening to music and trying to pick up on what’s going on is good. it’s also good to listen to more music outside your comfort zone, allowing more ideas and concepts to enter your mind can almost never go wrong
First of all, the animation quality is fantastic. SECOND OF ALL, you were probably smart in using FL first off and not some lame musical online sequencer (i.e. online sequencer)
This was the most entertaining fl studio video I've ever seen. Felt like I was watching an after school TV show. Would like to see some more FL content
Honestly, i don't know much things about theory, but i just stick to a pc while trying to repeat some tracks that i really liked. 1 friend who was into music could help really much, especially to convince you to use plugins and explore their abilitys... Experiments..... Also, video editing is straight up dope, quality just mmmmmmm banana
This just got put in my recomendation on yt and I'm happy I clicked it. This video was genuenily really funny and I love your anination style. This was also quite relatable to my experience first learning fl. I also sucked at first but you'll get better with practice, I have improved really much since I started producing music and you will too as long as you keep making music and find it fun.
Hey i did the same! Ive been always half decent ishnat making melodies but i didn't know anything about music theory, i still don't :'D but id say my songs (the two so far) are...well, good atleast :'D
I think that the next step would be to learn on how to sample other moosic. That's how I'm doin my shit, samples are like, the first step on learning music i guess.
These videos are outstanding. Like I don't care much about the subject matter for this one but I still had a great time. This all must take so much effort, but it pays off imo.
I love hearing these and thinking: “wow that sounds incredibly good” but at the same time I just know that if I made it I would feel like “Omg this is literal trash why did I ever touch this program”
I have been wanting to make music for like... three years? I havnt put nearly as much effort into it as I have programming. sometimes I feel like im trying to be a jack of all trades, master of none, but I really want to focus on programming because that's the part I enjoy most. But I feel like I cant do the things I want to do unless I learn all of it. But you know... You only have limited hours in a day. And especially if I spend like six of them a day on random youtube videos... Anyways yeah, I would like to make music. 0:18 oh well ive known that for like six years. At least. Its pretty easy once you know the one to the left of the two black keys is C. 3:07 the thing that drives me crazy about music is that people say you dont need music theory. *THE FRICK DO I GET THEN?* 3:45 and that's already better than anything ive ever done. I enjoy this, listen every morning and made me cry it's a so powerful melody
Beethoven been really quiet
4:12 That melody actually isn't bad for a complete noob. With a few minor adjustments, it'd be very usable in a lot of genres.
the bass chords though
IDK if you've even changed your style at all but this video has been my favorite of yours from memory. It's still insane to me how much you've improved
real
I like the fact that he is making music literally on a piece of cardboard
THEATER KID DETECTED
