Question of the Episode- What is your opinion on improving Tainted Cain by being able to turn off his passive?
I don't think its a good way to improve Tainted Cain. Tainted characters are all about the gimmick. So turning it off would just be playing as Cain. I think it would be better to improve the amount of pickups you get from items. It shouldnt take a floor worth of pickups to make one underwhelming item.
I think that's a bad idea, it would be like saying t Keeper should be able to turn of his passive, or really this goes for any of the negative passives of the tainteds. A better way is to scale the amount/quality of pickups based on the qualities of items. Seriously, getting 2 bombs and a coin from Polyphemus is bull.
My idea on how to improve him: I'd make bag of crafting create alternative consumables, require 2-4 consumed items picked up, the crafted consumables will always be higher tier like nickels, dimes, golden consumables, bone hearts, batteries and so on, also remove the passive to break down items.
Also what's the difference between external info mod showing crafting recipes and it showing the ids for spindown, both can be looked up just one is probably a bit more inconvenient
I think it would make unlocks easier. But I’m being biased because I want my boss rush unlock on console. 😭 I’ve gotten to craft Mama mega at random after floor six and I’ve been too angry to play him since. 😂
Being able to turn off his passive would defeat the point of the character. BUT I HATE HIM SO MUCH THAT I ABSOLUTELY WISH I COULD
He is the worst and my most hated character. I'd sooner use Jacob & Esau with double Isaac's Heart. Not even kidding.

make it so that 50% of your items fail to pick up, just cause that would be pretty cool to get mantle, and the game just goes, “ nuh-uh” so sick.
Yeah and when you fail it drops a mega troll bomb on the player
A really valuable strategy I don’t often hear with T Cain is forcing Beezlebub with three cheapo fly orbitals, and even guppy is possible since rotten hearts can craft curse room items. I only managed boss rush with a super juicy Esau jr roll, but yeah that’s one of the rougher unlocks, especially on switch
Every time you do a random tainted run I always hope for Tainted Azazel. No big reason or anything. I just don't think I've ever seen a run with him before so it would be awesome to see one.
I think turning off his passive its to op, it deletes the main mechanic of the character, however i think it deffinetely needs a buff. Btw thanks you for your daily videos, you always make my day

I dont mind the passive as is. However I use the External Mod and leave things lay until the end of a level. I craft Mama Mega to make Boss Rush or Hush for unlocks.
I think the best way to play tainted cain is early on focus on finding strong, cheap, repeatable recepies. I think this makes him actually an interesting fun character because who else can you run around with 10 lil brimstones with

with birthright and humbling bundle its so easy to completly rig a run so you can craft anything you want by cycling through spacebar items (only possible if you know the recipes)

I really enjoyed seeing the Aries+Serpent's Kiss combo because you can sprint towards the enemies while somewhat invincible and get double value on that, nice run tbh
May I please recommend that you do play with the external information mod? It's just genuinely more fun

Making boss rush with Tainted Cain usually boiled down to me being able to craft Mama Mega and bringing it to Depths II. Same thing with Hush on Womb II.

Tainted Tuesdays might be a cool idea, idk if this was said or thought of but yeah would be cool.
Tips to unlock tainted cain:
- turn on the info mod
- dont pick up consumables until u're done with the level
- try to craft birthright
- prettt much then you can craft whatever you want
- boss rush and hush can be found using mama mega

They creators should make so that when you touch an item pedestal it drops the items needed in the recipe because it sucks when you expect to get black soul hearts from devil deals but you get one when the recipe requires 5 black hearts for most if not all devil deal item recipes

you do know that if you are trying for boss rush fighting mom in Mausoleum or Gehenna lets you get boss rush at up to 25 minutes right?
If it’s more fun to play with the EI mod why not just play that way? Content wise I would say 80% of us AT THE LEAST enjoy happy having a good time Sinvicta vs when you’re struggle bussing and upset..
Two ways i would make tainted cain more fun 1. Make the crafting option set on or off so you are not obligated to break an item or 2. Make the bags damage scale with your actual stats, would be fun to be punching enemy with a sacred heart bag damage for example
Sin, 15 minutes in, I'm telling you... The MVP of the T Cain run is Serpent's kiss. Generating Black hearts leads to getting devil deal items left and right, and carried a few of the unlocks I got it. I've gotten guppy PURELY because of Serpent's kiss. no exaggeration.
On tainted Lost, Sin is cautious and sometimes angry. On tainted Jacob, he's pessimistic and on edge. But On Tainted Cain, Sin is usually absolutely miserable lol
The next Tainted Keeper run can't come quick enough.
Do the recipes change with each seed/new run or are the recipes always the same ingredients for each item gained across all seeds/new runs?
I also do not play with the mod when I play Cain too. I recommend not picking up anything though until the end of the floor. Then go around picking up all the best stuff to ensure better items. It’s slow yes but it is a lot better for getting good items

It's my mom's birthday. Y'all should tell her happy birthday because she deserves it after dealing with me for almost 18 years.
I once managed to craft Aries and serpents kiss and let me tell you something brother. Just imagine that you can run your enemies down, get the black soul hearts with that and then use those hearts for crafting. That strat alone helped me to get to the boss rush, Hush, Mega Stan and Delirium in a single run. I couldn't make something like this again and honestly I didn't have to. All other unlocks were just me casually walking across the rooms and crafting some stuff
UPD: I've made that comment before watching the whole video and it just hurts my heart so much. Sin had this perfect combination and didn't utilize it on full potential. I'm not mad, I'm just little disappointed

You picked up school bag and it dropped items. If you picked up those item with the sack, does it show school bag in the craft square?
Being able to turn off Tainted Cain's passive would make him too broken imo. It would also make him indifferent compared to Isaac for example, cause you won't be forced to use the bag of crafting.

Imo it would just make him. Normal cain without luck foot. But to each their own ig!
Honestly, I think it'd make him too powerful. I think that the bag just needs reworked so that every pickup makes sense on what it possibly contributes to.
That probably isn't happening, though.
The next best thing I can think of would be for the bag to tell you the point value in the bag and/or the quality range you are in. That way you don't have to look up the mechanics to play him.
It would make him much better. Though every character doesn't need to be good. Some are meant to be challenging or gimmicky.
i think it would be a much better idea if the game DID implement showing recipes, but in a more fun and fair way. one solution would be making it so that every item you created gets added to the "recipe book" that would show all of the item recipes you have unlocked on your current run. that way you wouldnt have to take notes or look up recipes for the item you just created, so that when you do craft a decent item, you could simply just repeat the recipe to get another one. it could be very good but not broken for the stat increasing items, and it would encourage you to unlock as many recipes as possible. a recipe book mechanic would also help you keep in mind which recipes you should avoid and which you should lean more into.

What does the tainted part mean in the builds?
Maybe someone from the mosh pit can enlighten me. When destroying an item with tainted Cain, do random components drop or components that made the item?
Random-ish, not the exact components, but the items have a higher chance to drop something from their pool, like devil deal items will drop black hearts or bonehearts :)
Edit: Also, an item will pretty much always produce less pickups than you need to craft it, which also kind of sucks

Also some buffs I'd give to T Cain is immunity to curse of the blind and the item you make depends on the time pool you are in. So if you have one item ready to make and you go into the boss room it could change to a different item while your in that room
