It's more the texture. Fresh cut potatoes are kind of slimy, but powdered starch is more for outside crisp. The trick is to soak and wash off the slime
I've tried making french fries in the air fryer before but I always forgot the cornstarch and let the potatoes soak in cold water, so I'm excited to make them again and follow this recipe--thank you for sharing! I actually prefer no condiments and eat my fries plain :)
Being an Indian i love to add spices with potato slices and then set the whole in airfryer .But i forgot to add oil and no any starch but i love it cause it is delicious
Hi I love your recipe, Just a quick note: you’re using Fahrenheit for temperatures, but only about 4.75% of the world’s population uses that scale. This includes the United States, Cayman Islands, Liberia, and Myanmar. Maybe consider adding Celsius for the rest of the 🌎 Rds from Spain
i like garlic aioli dipping sauce or a sweet chilli and mayo mix dipping sauce is awesome too. plus i like to spritz the fries with white vinegar from a small sprayer before plating up
Hi James! when you soak the potatoes in water to draw out the starch, it helps the potatoes not stick to each other while air frying. The cornstarch or potato starch makes the fries crispier and allows them to preserve their crispiness longer. Best, Cosori Chef Margaret
I just purchased the cosori lite airfryer i dont have it yet but i see you have a different model than me,since mine is different will the cooking times and temp. be different on mine for all recipes or all your airfryers the same?Thankyou!
*Unit tested: COSORI Lite Hot Air Fryer 3.8 L Recommend:First of all boil those potatoes 4 minutes the time that fryer preheat to cut the lvl of acrylamide and then to switch them back in normal water 4 minutes with some salt and cook them at 165°C first time and 180°C second time for 20 and shake them fast 5-6 **times. At** the end salt and garlic powder.Bon appetite(:*
I did exactly everything you did, except, I soaked my potatoes overnight, after cutting them into French fries. Furthermore, because I'm blind, I've always done everything by feel, that which means in this case, I did not peel the potato. I squared it off, first, as I found out that unfortunately, if I peel it, it's just not as easy to have perfectly cut French fries. Furthermore, I used seasoned salt, but I used the same amount you used in the recipe. My favorite dipping condiment, is ketchup. They came out just right!
@@57ncis6491 Yeah I don't even use the dehydrate anymore. Just cook them for 2 min on normal heat, then remove or just add the oil and swirl. It's the same, just keep an eye and you'll see.
Now how would I store these for whenever? Just put them in a ziploc bag and put it in the freezer right? If I make some today, would letting them be in the freezer for a week or so be bad?
Hello! I think they taste the best when eaten right away, but to store them I suggest sealing them in a bag or container and storing in the freezer. You can reheat them in the air fryer at 400F for about 5 minutes or until they are crispy again! Best, Cosori Chef Margaret
Hi there! The Dual Blaze has top & bottom heating elements, so you don't have to preheat or shake - however, if you do shake, the fries will brown more evenly.
Hi there! For the 3.7 quart air fryer the maximum amount of fries that fit in the basket is 680 grams, however we highly recommend cooking the fries in one single layer (283 grams) at a time for best results! Best results meaning crispiness and color. Thank you for watching and happy cooking! - Chef Mia
Here on YouTUBE, I think I also found yet another video with a recipe for air-fried sweet potato French fries. Are you a real chef, if you don't mind me asking? Where did you get your training? I went to culinary school at my local community college.

Why remove the starch just to add some back in?
Hi James! when you soak the potatoes in water to draw out the starch, it helps the potatoes not stick to each other while air frying. The cornstarch or potato starch makes the fries crispier and allows them to preserve their crispiness longer.
Best,

@@CookingwithCosori I understand that.
I’m giving this a try!
Wouldn't that heat destroy your counter top?
I like coleslaw salad dressing to dip in👍
yummmm that's a solid choice!
I'm gonna try that suggestion, sounds So Good!
Trying this right now, great video.
What is the model number on that Air Fryer miss?
I just purchased the cosori lite airfryer i dont have it yet but i see you have a different model than me,since mine is different will the cooking times and temp. be different on mine for all recipes or all your airfryers the same?Thankyou!
I don’t get why you have to preheat the air fryer, as soon as you remove the basket to load it up you loose all that pre heat temperature!.
You preheat the fryer. The metal absorbs heat and becomes hot and ready to go. You are not preheating the air.
@@lifelvr9509 common sense ain’t so common lol

Duration to cook potato fries in air fryers
Hi. My air fryer only has a maximum temperature of 200 degrees, so how many minutes should I set it to?
380f is about 190° , so same time at 190° should work

Nice. My air fryer has a dehydrate function, so instead of dabbing them in towels, I just dry them with air.
My air fryer has a dehydrate function also but how long does it take you for drying the potatoes?

7+ minutes to tell us how to make french fries. Hate to see her do something tough. It was close to 5 minutes before she put it in the air fryer.
