Start of the Grey Whale northern migration at Point Dume Malibu CA 2021

Spotted my first Grey Whale of the season heading north at Point Dume Malibu CA. Hanging in the surf with a few dolphin friends. Amazing site to see, even if you are standing in the surf.

Interspecies interaction with the Coastal Botttlenose Dolphins was very interesting as was the shallow water off Zuma Beach where the Pacific Gray Whale was rolling. Initially, I thought that it might be a feeding event (i.e., Malibu Sea Food) with the right side down but with the total roll over, I'm more inclined to think that it was a Malibu spa defoliation treatment.

Awesome Andrew, I was just there 15 minutes ago just when I was leaving a whale was rolling in the surf at dusk. Earlier two whales were feeding in the sand. I'll get the footage up in a few days.
